Driving your vehicle
Prerequisite for activation
The FCA gets ready to be activated,
when the FCA is selected on the
LCD display, and when the following
prerequisites are satisfied.
- The ESC (Electronic StabilityControl) is activated.
- Vehicle speed is over 5 mph (8 km/h). (The FCA is only activated
within a certain speed range.)
- The system detects a vehicle or pedestrian in front, which may col-
lide with your vehicle. (The FCA
may not be activated or may sound
a warning alarm in accordance
with the driving situation or vehicle
condition.)
❈ The FCA may not operate properly
according to the frontal situation,
the direction and speed of pedes-
trian.
FCA warning message and
system control
The FCA system produces warning
messages, warning alarms, and
emergency braking based on the
level of risk of a frontal collision, such
as when a vehicle ahead suddenly
brakes.
The driver can select the initial warn-
ing activation time in the User
Settings in the LCD display. The
options for the initial Forward
Collision Warning include Early,
Normal or Late initial warning time.
WARNING
Completely stop the vehicle
on a safe location before
operating the switch on the
steering wheel to activate/
deactivate the FCA system.
The FCA automatically acti- vates upon placing the Engine
Start/Stop button to the ON
position. The driver can deac-
tivate the FCA by canceling
the system setting on the LCD
display. To avoid driver dis-
tractions, do not attempt to
set or cancel the FCA while
driving the vehicle.
The FCA automatically deac- tivates upon canceling the
ESC (Electronic Stability
Control). When the ESC is
canceled, the FCA cannot be
activated on the LCD display.
The FCA warning light will
illuminate, but it does not
indicate a malfunction of the
system.

Smart cruise control will be tem-porarily canceled when:
Cancelled manually
The smart cruise control is temporar-
ily canceled when the brake pedal is
depressed or the CANCEL button is
pressed. Depress the brake pedal
and press the CANCEL button at the
same time, when the vehicle is at a
standstill. The speed and vehicle to
vehicle distance indicator on the
cluster is disappeared and the
CRUISE indicator is illuminated con-
tinuously. Cancelled automatically
The driver's door is opened.
The shift lever is shifted to N
(Neutral), R (Reverse) or P (Paking).
The EPB (electronic parking brake) is applied.
The vehicle speed is over 110 mph (180 km/h)
The ESC, ABS or TCS is operating.
The ESC is turned off.
The sensor or the cover is dirty or blocked with foreign matter.
When the vehicle is stopped for over 5 minutes.
The driver starts driving by pushing the toggle switch up (RES+)/down
(SET-) or depressing the accelera-
tor pedal, after stopping the vehicle
with a vehicle stopped far away in
front.
Engine rpm is in the red zone.
The accelerator pedal is continu- ously depressed for long time. The engine speed is in dangerous
range.
The SCC system has malfunc- tioned.
When the braking control is operat- ed for Forward Collision-Avoidance
Assist(FCA).
The vehicle stops and goes repeat- edly for a long period of time.
When the parking brake is locked.
Engine has some problems.

Remember, your vehicle does notrequire extended warm-up. After
the engine has started, allow the
engine to run for 10 to 20 seconds
prior to placing the vehicle in gear.
In very cold weather, however, give
your engine a slightly longer warm-
up period.
Don't "lug" or "over-rev" the engine. Lugging is driving too slowly in a
very high gear resulting in engine
bucking. If this happens, shift to a
lower gear. Over-revving is racing
the engine beyond its safe limit.
This can be avoided by shifting at
the recommended speed. Use your air conditioning sparingly.
The air conditioning system is
operated by engine power so your
fuel economy is reduced when you
use it.
Opening windows at high speeds can reduce fuel economy.
Fuel economy is less in crosswinds and headwinds. To help offset
some of this loss, slow down when
driving in these conditions.
Keeping a vehicle in good operating
condition is important both for econ-
omy and safety. Therefore, have an
authorized Kia dealer perform
scheduled inspections and mainte-
nance.
WARNING - Engine off during motion
Never turn the engine off to
coast down hills or anytime the
vehicle is in motion. The power
steering and power brakes will
not function properly without
the engine running. In addition,
turning off the engine start/stop
button while driving could
engage the steering wheel lock
resulting in loss of vehicle
steering. Keep the engine on
and downshift to an appropriate
gear for an engine braking
effect.

9. Connect between compressor and
the vehicle power outlet using the
cable and connectors (4).
✽ ✽NOTICE
Only use the front passenger side
power outlet.
10. With the engine start/stop button
position on: switch on the com-
pressor and let it run for approxi-
mately 5~7 minutes to fill the
sealant up to proper pressure
(refer to the "Tires and wheels" in
chapter 9). Be careful not to overinflate the
tire and stay away from the tire
when filling it. When the tire and
wheel are damaged, do not use
Tire Mobility Kit for your safety.
11. Switch off the compressor.
12. Detach the hose from the sealant bottle connector and from the tire
valve.
Return the Tire Mobility Kit to its stor-
age location in the vehicle.
Distributing the sealant
13. Immediately drive approximately 4~6 miles (7~10 km or, about 10
min) to evenly distribute the
sealant in the tire.

WARNING
Do not attempt to drive your
vehicle if the tire pressure is
below 29 psi (200 kPa). This
could result in an accident due
to sudden tire failure.
WARNING
Carbon monoxide poisoning
and suffocation is possible if the
engine is left running in a poorly
ventilated or unventilated loca-
tion (such as inside a building).
CAUTION
When you use the Tire MobilityKit, the tire pressure sensorsand wheel may be stained bysealant. Therefore, remove thetire pressure sensors and wheelstained by sealant and haveyour vehicle inspected by anauthorized Kia dealer.

4. Return the wiper arm on the wind-
shield.
5. Turn the engine start/stop button to the ON position and wiper arms
will return to the normal operating
position.
Type B
1. Raise the wiper arm and turn thewiper blade assembly to expose
the plastic locking clip.
2. Compress the clip and slide theblade assembly downward.
3. Lift it off the arm.
4. Install the new blade assembly.

will return to the normal operating

Inner panel fuse replacement
1. Turn the engine start/stop buttonto the OFF position and all other
switches off.
2. Open the fuse panel cover.
If the switch is located in the “OFF”
position, a caution indicator will be
displayed in the cluster. 3. Pull the suspected fuse straight
out. Use the removal tool provided
on the engine compartment fuse
panel cover.
4. Check the removed fuse; replace it if it is blown.
Spare fuses are provided in theengine compartment fuse panel.
5. Push in a new fuse of the same rating, and make sure it fits tightly
in the clips.
If it fits loosely, consult an authorized
Kia dealer.

wiring prohibited when
retrofitting equipment
Use of random wiring in the vehicle might cause danger dueto failure and damage of thevehicle’s performance. Usingrandom wires especially whenretrofitting the AVN or theftalarm system, remote enginecontrol, car phone or radio,might damage the vehicle orcause fire.

Engine compartment fuse
replacement
1. Turn the engine start/stop buttonto the OFF position and all other
switches off.
2. Remove the fuse panel cover by pressing the tab and pulling the
cover up. When the blade type
fuse is disconnected, remove it by
using the clip designed for chang-
ing fuses located in the engine
compartment fuse box. Upon
removal, securely insert a reserve
fuse of the same rating. 3. Check the removed fuse; replace it
if it is blown. To remove or insert
the fuse, use the fuse puller in the
engine compartment fuse panel.
4. Push in a new fuse of the same rating, and make sure it fits tightly
in the clips. If it fits loosely, consult
an authorized Kia dealer.
Multi fuse
If the multi fuse is blown, it must be
removed as follows:
1. Turn off the engine.
2. Disconnect the negative batterycable.
3. Remove the nuts shown in the pic- ture above.
4. Replace the fuse with a new one of the same rating.
5. Reverse these steps to reinstall the multi fuse.OJFH075025

After checking the fuse panel inthe engine compartment,securely install the fuse panelcover to protect against anyelectrical failure which mayoccur from water contact. Listenfor the audible clicking sound toensure the fuse panel cover issecurely fastened.
