ROAD WARNING
Hazard warning flasher
The hazard warning flasher serves as a
warning to other drivers to exercise ex‐ treme caution when approaching, over‐
taking, or passing your vehicle.
It should be used whenever emergency
repairs are being made or when the ve‐ hicle is stopped near the edge of a
roadway.
Depress the flasher switch with the ig‐
nition switch in any position. The flash‐
er switch is located in the center con‐
sole switch panel. All turn signal lights
will flash simultaneously. • The hazard warning flasher operates
whether your vehicle is running ornot.
• The turn signals do not work when the hazard flasher is on.
• Care must be taken when using the hazard warning flasher while the ve‐
hicle is being towed.

IF THE ENGINE WILL NOT START
If engine doesn't turn over or
turns over slowly
1. Be sure the shift lever is in N (Neu‐tral) or P (Park) and the emergency
brake is set.
2. Check the battery connections to be sure they are clean and tight.
3. Turn on the interior light. If the light dims or goes out when you
operate the starter, the battery is
discharged.
4. Check the starter connections to be sure they are securely tightened.
5. Do not push or pull the vehicle to start it. See instructions for L

When the tire pressure monitoring sys‐
tem warning indicators are illuminated and warning massage displayed on the
cluster LCD display, one or more of
your tires is significantly under-infla‐ ted. The low tire pressure position tell‐
tale light will indicate which tire is sig‐
nificantly under-inflated by illuminating the corresponding position light.
If either telltale illuminates, immediate‐
ly reduce your speed, avoid hard cor‐
nering and anticipate increased stop‐ ping distances. You should stop and
check your tires as soon as possible. In‐
flate the tires to the proper pressure as
indicated on the vehicle’s placard or tire inflation pressure label located on the
driver’s side center pillar outer panel. If
you cannot reach a service station or if the tire cannot hold the newly added
air, replace the low pressure tire with a
spare tire.
If you drive the vehicle for about 10 mi‐ nutes at speeds above 25 km/h after
replacing the low pressure tire with the
spare tire, one of the following will hap‐ pen: • The TPMS malfunction indicator may
blink for approximately 1 minute and
then remain continuously illuminated
because the TPMS sensor is not
mounted on the spare wheel. (changed tire equipped with a sensor
not in the vehicle)
• The TPMS malfunction indicator will remain continuously illuminated while
driving because the TPMS sensor is
not mounted on the spare wheel. (changed tire equipped with a sensor
in the vehicle)
CAUTION
In winter or cold weather, the lowtire pressure telltale may illuminateif the tire pressure was adjusted tothe recommended tire inflation pres‐sure in warm weather. It does notmean your TPMS is malfunctioningbecause the decreased temperatureleads to a lowering of tire pressure. When you drive your vehicle from awarm area to a cold area or from acold area to a warm area, or theoutside temperature is higher orlower, you should check the tire in‐flation pressure and adjust the tires

to the recommended tire inflationpressure.
WARNING
nLow pressure damage
Significantly low tire pressure makesthe vehicle unstable and can contrib‐ute to loss of vehicle control and in‐creased braking distances.Continued driving on low pressuretires can cause the tires to overheatand fail.
TPMS (Tire Pressure
Monitoring System)
malfunction indicator
The TPMS malfunction indi‐ cator will illuminate after it blinks for
approximately one minute when there is a problem with the Tire Pressure
Monitoring System.
We recommend that the system be
checked by an authorized Kia dealer to determine the cause of the problem.

You may not be able to identify a low
tire by simply looking at it. Always use a good quality tire pressure gauge to
measure the tire's inflation pressure.
Please note that a tire that is hot (from being driven) will have a higher pres‐
sure measurement than a tire that is
cold (from sitting stationary for at least 3 hours and driven less than
1.6 km (1 mile) during that 3 hour peri‐
od).
Allow the tire to cool before measuring the inflation pressure. Always be sure
the tire is cold before inflating to the
recommended pressure.
A cold tire means the vehicle has been sitting for 3 hours and driven for less
than 1.6 km (1 mile) in that 3 hour peri‐od.
CAUTION
We recommend that you use thesealant approved by Kia if your vehi‐cle is equipped with a Tire PressureMonitoring System. The liquid seal‐ant can damage the tire pressuresensors.
WARNING
nTPMS
•The TPMS cannot alert you to se‐vere and sudden tire damagecaused by external factors such asnails or road debris.
•If you feel any vehicle instability, immediately take your foot off theaccelerator, apply the brakes grad‐ually and with light force, andslowly move to a safe position offthe road.
WARNING
nProtecting TPMS
Tampering with, modifying, or disa‐bling the Tire Pressure MonitoringSystem (TPMS) components may in‐terfere with the system's ability towarn the driver of low tire pressureconditions and/or TPMS malfunc‐tions. Tampering with, modifying, ordisabling the Tire Pressure Monitor‐ing System (TPMS) components mayvoid the warranty for that portion ofthe vehicle.
WARNING
nFor EUROPE
•Do not modify the vehicle, it mayinterfere with the TPMS function.
•The wheels on the market do nothave a TPMS sensor. For your safety, we recommendthat you use parts for replace‐ment from an authorized Kia deal‐er.
•If you use the wheels on the mar‐ket, use a TPMS sensor approvedby a Kia dealer. If your vehicle is not equipped witha TPMS sensor or TPMS does notwork properly, you may fail theperiodic vehicle inspection conduc‐ted in your country.❈All vehicles sold in the EUROPEmarket during below periodmust be equipped with TPMS.-New model vehicle:Nov. 1, 2012 ~

OWNER MAINTENANCE
The following lists are vehicle checks
and inspections that should be per‐
formed at the frequencies indicated to help ensure safe, dependable operation
of your vehicle.
Any adverse conditions should be
brought to the attention of your dealer as soon as possible.
These Owner Maintenance Checks are
generally not covered by warranties
and you may be charged for labor, parts and lubricants used.
Owner maintenance schedule
When you stop for fuel:
• Check the engine oil level.
• Check the coolant level in the coolant reservoir.
• Check the windshield washer fluid level.
• Look for low or under-inflated tires.
WARNING
Be careful when checking your en‐gine coolant level when the engine ishot. Scalding hot coolant and steam

may blow out under pressure. Thiscould cause burns or other seriousinjury.
While operating your vehicle:
• Note any changes in the sound of the exhaust or any smell of exhaust
fumes in the vehicle.
• Check for vibrations in the steering wheel. Notice any increased steering
effort or looseness in the steering
wheel, or change in its straight-
ahead position.
• Notice if your vehicle constantly turns slightly or L

BATTERY
For best battery service
• Keep the battery securely mounted.
• Keep the battery top clean and dry.
• Keep the terminals and connectionsclean, tight, and coated with petrole‐
um jelly or terminal grease.
• Rinse any spilled electrolyte from the battery immediately with a solution
of water and baking soda.
• If the vehicle is not going to be used for an extended time, disconnect the
battery cables.
NOTICE
Basically equipped battery is main‐
tenance free type. If your vehicle is
equipped with the battery marked
with LOWER and UPPER on the side,
you can check the electrolyte level.
The electrolyte level should be be‐
tween LOWER and UPPER. If the
electrolyte level is low, it needs to
add distilled (demineralized) water
(Never add sulfuric acid or other
electrolyte). When refill, be careful
not to splash the battery and adja‐
cent components. And do not overfill
the battery cells. It can cause corro‐
sion on other parts. After then en‐
sure that tighten the cell caps. We
recommend that you contact an au‐
thorized Kia dealer.

Battery recharging
Your vehicle has a maintenance-free,
calcium-based battery. • If the battery becomes discharged in a short time (because, for example, the headlights or interior lights were
left on while the vehicle was not in
use), recharge it by slow charging
(trickle) for 10 hours.
• If the battery gradually discharges because of high electric load while
the vehicle is being used, recharge it
at 20-30A for two hours.
WARNING
nRecharging battery
When recharging the battery, ob‐serve the following precautions:•The battery must be removedfrom the vehicle and placed in anarea with good ventilation.
•Do not allow cigarettes, sparks, orflame near the battery.
•Watch the battery during charg‐ing, and stop or reduce the charg‐ing rate if the battery cells begingassing (boiling) violently or if thetemperature of the electrolyte ofany cell exceeds 49°C (120°F).
•Wear eye protection when check‐ing the battery during charging.
•Disconnect the battery charger inthe following order.1.Turn off the battery chargermain switch.
2.Unhook the negative clampfrom the negative battery ter‐minal.
3.Unhook the positive clamp fromthe positive battery terminal.

Tire traction
Tire traction can be reduced if you drive
on worn tires, tires that are improperly inflated or on slippery road surfaces.
Tires should be replaced when tread
wear indicators appear. Slow down whenever there is rain, snow or ice on
the road to reduce the possibility of
losing control of the vehicle.
Tire maintenance
In addition to proper inflation, correct
wheel alignment helps to decrease tire wear. If you find a tire is worn uneven‐
ly, have your dealer check the wheel
alignment.
When you have new tires installed, make sure they are balanced. This will
increase vehicle ride comfort and tire
life. Additionally, a tire should always be rebalanced if it is removed from the
wheel.
Tire sidewall labeling
0 + ' -
This information identifies and de‐
scribes the fundamental characteristics of the tire and also provides the tire
identification number (TIN) for safety
standard certification. The TIN can be used to identify the tire in case of a re‐
call.
1. Manufacturer or brand name
Manufacturer or Brand name is shown.
2. Tire size designation
A tire’s sidewall is marked with a tire size designation. You will need this in‐
formation when selecting replacement
tires for your vehicle. The following ex‐ plains what the letters and numbers in
the tire size designation mean.
Example tire size designation:

WARNING
nTire temperature
The temperature grade for this tireis established for a tire that is prop‐erly inflated and not overloaded. Ex‐cessive speed, underinflation, or ex‐cessive loading, either separately orin combination, can cause heat build-up and possible sudden tire failure. This can cause loss of vehicle controland serious injury or death.
Low aspect ratio tire (if
equipped)
Low aspect ratio tires, whose aspect
ratio is lower than 50, are provided for sporty looks.
Because the low aspect ratio tires are
optimized for handling and braking, it
may be more uncomfortable to ride in and there is more noise compare with
normal tires.
CAUTION
Because the sidewall of the low as‐pect ratio tire is shorter than the

normal, the wheel and tire of thelow aspect ratio tire is easier to bedamaged. So, follow the instructionsbelow.-When driving on a rough road oroff road, drive cautiously becausetires and wheels may be damaged. And after driving, inspect tires andwheels.
-When passing over a pothole, speed bump, manhole, or curbstone, drive slowly so that thetires and wheels are not damaged.
-If the tire is impacted, we recom‐mend that you inspect the tirecondition or contact an authorizedKia dealer.
-To prevent damage to the tire, in‐spect the tire condition and pres‐sure every 3,000 km.
CAUTION
•It is not easy to recognize the tiredamage with your own eyes. But ifthere is the slightest hint of tiredamage, even though you cannotsee the tire damage with your owneyes, have the tire checked or re‐placed because the tire damagemay cause air leakage from thetire.
•If the tire is damaged by driving ona rough road, off road, pothole, manhole, or curb stone, it will notbe covered by the warranty.
•You can find out the tire informa‐tion on the tire sidewall.
