Tilt steering (if equipped)
Tilt steering allows you to adjust the
steering wheel before you drive. You can
also raise it to give your legs more room
when you exit and enter the vehicle.
The steering wheel should be positioned
so that it is comfortable for you to drive,
while permitting you to see the instru-
ment panel warning lights and gauges.
Manual type
To change the steering wheel angle, pull
down the lock release lever (1), adjust
the steering wheel to the desired angle
(2), then pull up the lock-release lever to
lock the steering wheel in place . Be sure
to adjust the steering wheel to the
desired position before driving. Heated steering wheel (if equipped)
When the ignition switch is in the ON
position, pressing the heated steering
wheel button warms the steering wheel.
The indicator on the button will illuminate.
To turn the steering wheel off, press the
button once again. The indicator on the
button will turn off.
It will turn off automatically approximate-
ly 30 minutes after the heated steering
wheel is turned on.
If you turn on the ignition again after turn
off your engine in half an hour (after oper-
ating heater button), the heating systemwill be maintained in its 'on' condition.

Never adjust the angle of the steering wheel while driving. You
may lose steering control and
cause severe personal injury,death or accidents.
After adjusting, push the steering wheel both up and down to be
certain it is locked in position.

Horn
To sound the horn, press the horn sym-
bols on your steering wheel. Check the
horn regularly to be sure it operates
properly.
✽✽NOTICE
To sound the horn, press the area indi-
cated by the horn symbol on your steer-
ing wheel (see illustration). The horn will
operate only when this area is pressed.
CAUTION
Do not install any grip to operate the steering wheel. This causes
damage to the heated steeringwheel system.
When cleaning the heated steering wheel, do not use an organic sol-
vent such as paint thinner, ben- zene, alcohol and gasoline. Doingso may damage the surface of the steering wheel.
If the surface of steering wheel is damaged by sharp object, damageto the heated steering wheel com-ponents could occur.

CAUTION
Do not strike the horn severely to operate it, or hit it with your fist. Do
not press on the horn with a sharp- pointed object.

MIRRORS
Inside rearview mirror
Adjust the rearview mirror to center on
the view through the rear window. Make
this adjustment before you start driving.
Day/night rearview mirror
Make this adjustment before you start
driving and while the day/night lever is in
the day position.
Pull the day/night lever toward you to reduce the glare from the headlights of
the vehicles behind you during night driv-ing.
Remember that you lose some rearview clarity in the night position.
WARNING - Rear visibility
Do not place objects in the rear
seat or cargo area which would
interfere with your vision through
the rear window.
WARNING
Do not adjust the rearview mirror
while the vehicle is moving. This
could result in loss of control, and an
accident which could cause death,
serious injury or property damage.
WARNING
Do not modify the inside mirror and
do not install a wide mirror. It could
result in injury, during an accident
or deployment of the air bag.

Outside rearview mirror
Be sure to adjust mirror angles before
driving.
Your vehicle is equipped with both left-
hand and right-hand outside rearview
mirrors. The mirrors can be adjusted
remotely with the remote switch. The mir-
ror heads can be folded back to prevent
damage during an automatic car wash or
when passing in a narrow street.
CAUTION
Do not scrape ice off the mirrorface; this may damage the surfaceof the glass. If ice should restrict
movement of the mirror, do not forcethe mirror for adjustment. To removeice, use a deicer spray, or a spongeor soft cloth with very warm water.
CAUTION
If the mirror is jammed with ice, do not adjust the mirror by force. Use
an approved spray de-icer (not radi- ator antifreeze) to release thefrozen mechanism or move the vehicle to a warm place and allow
the ice to melt.
WARNING
Do not adjust or fold the outside
rearview mirrors while the vehicle
is moving. This could result in loss
of control, and an accident which
could cause death, serious injury
or property damage.
WARNING - Rearview
mirrors
The outside rearview mirror is convex. Objects seen in the mir-
ror are closer than they appear.
Use your interior rearview mirror or direct observation to determine
the actual distance of following
vehicles when changing lanes.

Remote control
Manual type
The outside rearview mirrors are
equipped with a remote control for your
convenience. It is operated by the control
lever in the bottom front corner of the
window.
Before driving away, always check that
your mirrors are positioned so you can
see behind you, both to the left and right
sides, as well as directly behind your
vehicle. When using the mirror, always
exercise caution when attempting to
judge the distance of vehicles behind or
along side of you. Electric type (if equipped)
The electric remote control mirror switch
allows you to adjust the position of the
left and right outside rearview mirrors. To
adjust the position of either mirror, the
ignition switch should be in the ACC posi-
tion. Move the lever (1) to R or L to select
the right side mirror or the left side mirror,then press a corresponding point on themirror adjustment control to position the
selected mirror up, down, left or right.
After the adjustment, put the lever into
the neutral (center) position to prevent
inadvertent adjustment.

CAUTION
The mirrors stop moving when
they reach the maximum adjust-
ing angles, but the motor contin- ues to operate while the switch ispressed. Do not press the switchlonger than necessary, the motor
may be damaged.
Do not attempt to adjust the out- side rearview mirror by hand.Doing so may damage the parts.

Folding the outside rearview mirror
Electric Type (if equipped)
To fold the outside rearview mirror,
depress the button.
To unfold it, depress the button again.Manual type
To fold outside rearview mirror, grasp the
housing of mirror and then fold it toward
the rear of the vehicle.
CAUTION
In case it is an electric type outside
rearview mirror, don’t fold it byhand. It could cause motor failure.
CAUTION
The electric type outside rearviewmirror operates even though the
ignition switch is in the OFF posi-tion. However, to prevent unneces-sary battery discharge, do not adjust the mirrors longer than necessary
while the engine is not running.

Instrument Cluster Control
Adjusting Instrument Cluster
Illumination (if equipped)
The brightness of the instrument panel
illumination is changed by rotating theillumination control knob when the igni-
tion switch or Engine Start/Stop button is
ON, or the tale lights are turned on. The brightness of the instrument panel
illumination is displayed (Type B Cluster).
If the brightness reaches to the maxi-
mum or minimum level, an alarm willsound (if equipped).
WARNING
Never adjust the instrument cluster
while driving. This could result in
loss of control and lead to an acci-
dent that may cause death, serious
injury, or property damage.

Tachometer
The tachometer indicates the approxi-
mate number of engine revolutions per
minute (rpm). Use the tachometer to select the correct
shift points and to prevent lugging and/or
over-revving the engine.
The tachometer pointer may move slight-
ly when the ignition switch is in ACC or
ON position with the engine OFF. This
movement is normal and will not affect
the accuracy of the tachometer once the
engine is running.

Gauges
Speedometer
The speedometer indicates the forward speed of the vehicle.
The speedometer is calibrated in kilometers per hour and/or miles per hour.
