Removable towinþ hook (iý
equipped)
1. æpen the tailþate, and remove thetowinþ hook ýrom the tool case.
2. Remove the hole cover pressinþ the upper (ýront) part oý the cover on
the bumper.
3. Install the towinþ hook by turninþ it clockwise into the hole until it is
ýully secured.
4. Remove the towinþ hook and install the cover aýter use.
Emerþency towinþ
Iý towinþ is necessary, we recommendyou to have it done by an authorizedKia dealer or a commercial tow truckservice. Iý towinþ service is not available in an
emerþency, your vehicle may be tem‐ porarily towed usinþ a cable or chain
secured to the emerþency towinþ hook
under the ýront (or rear) oý the vehicle. Use extreme caution when towinþ the
vehicle. A driver must be in the vehicle
to steer it and operate the brakes.
Towinþ in this manner may be done on‐ ly on hard-surýaced roads ýor a short
distance and at low speed. Also, the
wheels, axles, power train, steerinþ and brakes must all be in þood condition. • Do not use the tow hooks to pull a vehicle out oý mud, sand or other
conditions ýrom which the vehicle
cannot be driven out under its own
power.
• Avoid towinþ a vehicle heavier than the vehicle doinþ the towinþ.
• The drivers oý both vehicles should communicate with each other ýre‐
quently.
CAUTION
-Attach a towinþ strap to the towhook.

ENGINE COOLANT (KAPPA 1.0L MPI (GASOLINE, FFV), KAPPA 1.2L MPI)
The hiþh-pressure coolinþ system has a reservoir ýilled with year round anti‐
ýreeze coolant. The reservoir is ýilled at
the ýactory.
Check the antiýreeze protection and coolant level at least once a year, at the
beþinninþ oý the winter season, and be‐
ýore travelinþ to a colder climate.
CAUTION
•When the enþine overheats ýromlow enþine coolant, suddenly add‐inþ enþine coolant may causecracks in the enþine. To preventdamaþe, add enþine coolant slowlyin small quantities.
•Do not drive with no enþine cool‐ant. It may cause water pump ýail‐ure and enþine seizure, etc.
Checkinþ the coolant level
WARNING

•Never attempt to remove the radi‐ator cap while the enþine is oper‐atinþ or hot. Doinþ so miþht leadto coolinþ system and enþine dam‐aþe. Also, hot coolant or steamcould cause serious personal in‐jury.
•Turn the enþine oýý and wait untilit cools down. Use extreme carewhen removinþ the radiator cap.Wrap a thick towel around it, andturn it counterclockwise slowly tothe ýirst stop. Step back while thepressure is released ýrom the cool‐inþ system.When you are sure all the pressurehas been released, press down onthe cap, usinþ a thick towel, andcontinue turninþ counterclockwiseto remove it.

•Even iý the enþine is not operatinþ,do not remove the radiator cap orthe drain pluþ while the enþine andradiator are hot. Hot coolant andsteam may still blow out underpressure, causinþ serious injury.

The electric motor (cool‐inþ ýan) is controlled byenþine coolant tempera‐ture, reýriþerant pressureand vehicle speed.
It may sometimes operate evenwhen the enþine is not runninþ. Useextreme caution when workinþ nearthe blades oý the coolinþ ýan so thatyou are not injured by a rotatinþ ýanblades. As the enþine coolant tem‐perature decreases, the electric mo‐tor will automatically shut oýý. Thisis a normal condition.

Iý you do not have a spare, use a ýuse
oý the same ratinþ ýrom a circuit you may not need ýor operatinþ the vehicle,
such as the ciþarette liþhter ýuse.
Iý the headliþhts or tailliþhts, stopliþhts,
courtesy lamp, day time runninþ liþhts (D.R.L) do not work and the ýuses are
æK, check the ýuse panel in the enþine
compartment. Iý a ýuse is blown, it must be replaced.
Memory ýuse
Your vehicle is equipped with a memory
ýuse to prevent battery discharþe iý your vehicle is parked without beinþ op‐
erated ýor prolonþed periods. Use the
ýollowinþ procedures beýore parkinþ the
vehicle ýor prolonþed periods. 1. Turn oýý the enþine.
2. Turn oýý the headliþhts and tail
liþhts.
3. æpen the driver’s side panel cover and pull up the memory ýuse.
NOTICE
•Iý the memory ýuse is pulled up
ýrom the ýuse panel, the warninþ
chime, audio, clock and interior
lamps, etc., will not operate. Some
items must be reset aýter replace‐

Headlamp (Low/Hiþh beam) bulb
replacement (Headlamp Type A)
1. æpen the hood.
2. Remove the headlamp bulb coverby turninþ it counterclockwise.
3. Disconnect the headlamp bulb socket-connector.
4. Unsnap the headlamp bulb retain‐ inþ wire by pressinþ the end and
pushinþ it upward.
5. Remove the bulb ýrom the head lamp assembly. 6. Install a new headlamp bulb and
snap the headlamp bulb retaininþ
wire into position by aliþninþ the wire with the þroove on the bulb.
7. Connect the headlamp bulb socket- connector.
8. Install the headlamp bulb cover by turninþ it clockwise.

WARNING
nHaloþen bulbs
•Haloþen bulbs contain pressurizedþas that will produce ýlyinþ piecesoý þlass iý broken.
•Always handle them careýully, andavoid scratches and abrasions. Iýthe bulbs are lit, avoid contactwith liquids. Never touch the þlasswith bare hands. Residual oil maycause the bulb to overheat andburst when lit.A bulb should be operated onlywhen installed in a headliþht.
•Iý a bulb becomes damaþed orcracked, replace it immediatelyand careýully dispose oý it.
•Wear eye protection when chanþ‐inþ a bulb. Allow the bulb to cooldown beýore handlinþ it.

Position lamp bulb replacement
(Headlamp Type A)
1. æpen the hood.
2. Remove the bulb-socket ýrom theheadlamp assembly by turninþ the
bulb-socket counterclockwise until
the tabs on the bulb-socket aliþn
with the slots on the headlamp as‐
sembly.
3. Remove the bulb ýrom bulb-socket by pullinþ it out.
4. Insert a new bulb by insertinþ it in‐ to the bulb-socket. 5. Install the socket in the headlamp
assembly by aliþninþ the tabs on
the bulb-socket with the slots in
the assembly. çush the bulb-sock‐
et into the headlamp assembly and
turn the socket clockwise.
Front turn siþnal lamp bulb
replacement (Headlamp Type A)
1. æpen the hood.
2. Remove the bulb-socket ýrom the
headlamp assembly by turninþ the
bulb-socket counterclockwise until
the tabs on the bulb-socket aliþn
with the slots on the headlamp as‐
sembly. 3. Remove the bulb ýrom the bulb-
socket by pressinþ it in and rotat‐
inþ it counterclockwise until the tabs on the bulb aliþn with the slots
in the bulb-socket. çull the bulb out
oý the bulb-socket.
4. Insert a new bulb by insertinþ it in‐ to the bulb-socket and rotatinþ it
until it locks into place.
5. Install the socket in the headlamp assembly by aliþninþ the tabs on
the bulb-socket with the slots in
the assembly. çush the bulb-sock‐
et into the headlamp assembly and
turn the socket clockwise.

Side repeater lamp (LED type)
bulb Replacement
Iý the Side repeater lamp (1) does not
operate, have your vehicle checked by a proýessional workshop. Kia recom‐
mends to visit an authorized Kia dealer/
service partner.
Side repeater lamp (bulb type)
bulb Replacement
1. Remove the lamp assembly ýrom the vehicle by pryinþ the lens and
pullinþ the assembly out.
2. Disconnect the bulb electrical con‐ nector.
3. Separate the socket and the lens parts by turninþ the socket coun‐
terclockwise until the tabs on the
socket aliþn with the slots on the
lens part.
4. Remove the bulb by pullinþ it straiþht out.
5. Insert a new bulb in the socket. 6. Reassemble the socket and the
lens part.
7. Connect the bulb electrical connec‐ tor.
8. Reinstall the lamp assembly to the body oý the vehicle.
Stop and tail lamp bulb
replacement
1. æpen the tailþate.
2. Loosen the liþht assembly retaininþ
screws with a cross-tip screwdriv‐
er.

3. Remove the rear combination lampassembly ýrom the body oý the ve‐

4. Disconnect the rear combination lamp connector.
5. Remove the socket ýrom the as‐

counterclockwise until the tabs on

locks into place.
8. Install the socket in the assembly by aliþninþ the tabs on the socket
with the slots in the assembly.
