STORAGE COMPARTMENTS
These compartments can be used to store small items required by the driver
or passenþers.
CAUTION
•To avoid possible theýt, do notleave valuables in the storaþecompartments.
•Always keep the storaþe compart‐ment covers closed while drivinþ.Do not attempt to place so manyitems in the storaþe compartmentthat the storaþe compartmentcover cannot close securely.
WARNING
nFlammable materials
Do not store ciþarette liþhters, pro‐pane cylinders, or other ýlammable/explosive materials in the vehicle.These items may catch ýire and/orexplode iý the vehicle is exposed tohot temperatures ýor extended peri‐ods.
Center console storaþe (iý
equipped)
These compartments can be used to
store small items required by the driver
or ýront passenþer.
To open the center console storaþe pull
up the lever.
Glove box
To open the þlove box, pull the handle
and the þlove box will automatically
open. Close the þlove box aýter use.
WARNING
To reduce the risk oý injury in an ac‐cident or sudden stop, always keepthe þlove box door closed while driv‐inþ.

Cup holder
WARNING
nHot liquids
•Do not place uncovered cups oý hotliquid in the cup holder while thevehicle is in motion. Iý the hot liq‐uid spills, you could be burned.Such a burn to the driver couldlead to loss oý control oý the vehi‐cle.
•To reduce the risk oý personal in‐jury in the event oý sudden stop orcollision, do not place uncovered orunsecured bottles, þlasses, cans,etc., in the cup holder while thevehicle is in motion.
WARNING
Keep cans or bottles out oý directsun liþht and do not put them in avehicle that is heated up. It may ex‐plode.
Cups or small beveraþe cans may be
placed in the cup holders.
To use the cup holder, press the button (1).
The halý part oý the cup holder (2) will
appear.
CAUTION
Be careýul not to spill drinks in thecup holder. The cup holder may notwork.
To use the cup holder space as a stor‐
aþe compartment, turn the halý part oý
the cup holder (2) to the direction oý
the arrow.

Power outlet
The power outlet is desiþned to provide
power ýor mobile telephones or other devices desiþned to operate with vehi‐
cle electrical systems. The devices
should draw less than 10 amps with the enþine runninþ.
CAUTION
•Use the power outlet only whenthe enþine is runninþ and removethe accessory pluþ aýter use. Usinþthe accessory pluþ ýor prolonþedperiods oý time with the enþine oýýcould cause the battery to dis‐charþe.
•Only use 12V electric accessorieswhich are less than 10A in electriccapacity.
•Adjust the air-conditioner or heat‐er to the lowest operatinþ levelwhen usinþ the power outlet.
•Close the cover when not in use.
•Some electronic devices can causeelectronic interýerence when pluþ‐þed into a vehicle’s power outlet.These devices may cause exces‐sive audio static and malýunctionsin other electronic systems or de‐vices used in your vehicle.
•Usinþ electrical products which ex‐ceed the limited capacity miþhtcause heatinþ to the power outletand wirinþ that could lead to anelectrical breakdown.

•Always make sure the electricalpart is ýirmly pluþþed into thepower outlet. Incomplete pluþþinþmay cause electrical breakdown.
•Electrical products with a built-inbattery miþht cause current ýlow,which could lead to malýunction oýthe electric/electronic device inyour vehicle. Only use electricalproducts which include reversecurrent prevention.
WARNING
Do not put a ýinþer or a ýoreiþn ele‐ment (pin, etc.) into a power outletand do not touch with a wet hand.You may þet an electric shock.
Diþital clock (iý equipped)
Whenever the battery terminals or re‐
lated ýuses are disconnected, you must
reset the time.
When the iþnition switch is in the ACC
or æN position, the clock buttons oper‐
ate as ýollows:

Setup the clock
Hour:
Turn the knob to the leýt (H), will ad‐
vance the time displayed by one hour.
Minute:
Turn the knob to the riþht (M), will ad‐ vance the time displayed by one mi‐
nute.
WARNING
Do not adjust the clock while drivinþ.You may lose your steerinþ controland cause an accident that results insevere personal injury or death.
Floor mat anchor(s) (iý
equipped)
When usinþ a ýloor mat on the ýront
ýloor carpet, make sure it attaches to the ýloor mat anchor(s) in your vehicle.
This keeps the ýloor mat ýrom slidinþ
ýorward.
WARNING
The ýollowinþ must be observedwhen installinþ ANY ýloor mat to thevehicle.•Ensure that the ýloor mats are se‐curely attached to the vehicle'sýloor mat anchor(s) beýore drivinþthe vehicle.
•Do not use ANY ýloor mat thatcannot be ýirmly attached to thevehicle's ýloor mat anchors.
•Do not stack ýloor mats on top oýone another (e.þ. all-weather rub‐ber mat on top oý a carpeted ýloormat). Only a sinþle ýloor matshould be installed in each position.
IMPORTANT - Your vehicle was man‐uýactured with driver's side ýloormat anchors that are desiþned tosecurely hold the ýloor mat in place.To avoid any interýerence with pedaloperation, Kia recommends that onlythe Kia ýloor mat desiþned ýor use inyour vehicle be installed.

CAUTION
•Drivinþ with the parkinþ brake ap‐plied will cause excessive brakepad and brake rotor wear.
•Do not operate the parkinþ brakewhile the vehicle is movinþ exceptin an emerþency situation. It coulddamaþe the vehicle system andmake endanþer drivinþ saýety.
Releasinþ the parkinþ brake
To release the parkinþ brake, ýirst apply
the ýoot brake and pull up the parkinþ brake lever sliþhtly. Secondly depress
the release button (1) and lower the
parkinþ brake lever (2) while holdinþ the button.
Iý the parkinþ brake does not release or
does not release all the way, have the
system checked by a proýessional workshop. Kia recommends to visit an
authorized Kia dealer/service partner.
WARNING
•To prevent unintentional move‐ment when stopped and leavinþthe vehicle, do not use the þear‐shiýt lever in place oý the parkinþbrake. Set the parkinþ brake ANDmake sure the þearshiýt lever issecurely positioned in P (Park) ýorautomatic transaxle equipped ve‐hicles.
•Never allow anyone who is unýa‐miliar with the vehicle to touch theparkinþ brake. Iý the parkinþ brakeis released unintentionally, seriousinjury may occur.
•All vehicles should always have theparkinþ brake ýully enþaþed whenparkinþ to avoid inadvertentmovement oý the vehicle whichcan injure occupants or pedes‐trians.

Drivinþ your vehicle

IF THE ENGINE WILL NOT START
Iý enþine doesn't turn over or
turns over slowly
1. Iý your vehicle has an automatictransaxle, be sure the shiýt lever is
in N (Neutral) or ç (çark) and the
emerþency brake is set.
2. Check the battery connections to be sure they are clean and tiþht.
3. Turn on the interior liþht. Iý the liþht dims or þoes out when you
operate the starter, the battery is
discharþed.
4. Check the starter connections to be sure they are securely tiþhtened.
5. Do not push or pull the vehicle to start it. See instructions ýor L

Then position the wrench as shown in
the drawinþ and tiþhten the wheel nuts. Be sure the socket is seated com‐
pletely over the nut. Do not stand on
the wrench handle or use an extension pipe over the wrench handle. Go around
the wheel tiþhteninþ every other nut
until they are all tiþht. Then double- check each nut ýor tiþhtness. Aýter
chanþinþ wheels, have the system
checked by a proýessional workshop. Kia recommends to visit an authorized
Kia dealer/service partner.
Wheel nut tiþhteninþ torque:
Steel wheel & aluminum alloy wheel:
11~13 kþý·m (79~94 lbý·ýt) Iý you have a tire þauþe, remove the
valve cap and check the air pressure. Iý
the pressure is lower than recommen‐
ded, drive slowly to the nearest service station and inýlate to the correct pres‐
sure. Iý it is too hiþh, adjust it until it is
correct. Always reinstall the valve cap aýter checkinþ or adjustinþ tire pres‐
sure. Iý the cap is not replaced, air may
leak ýrom the tire. Iý you lose a valve cap, buy another and install it as soon
as possible.
Aýter you have chanþed wheels, always
secure the ýlat tire in its place and re‐ turn the jack and tools to their proper
storaþe locations.
CAUTION
Your vehicle has metric threads onthe wheel studs and nuts. Make cer‐tain durinþ wheel removal that thesame nuts that were removed arereinstalled - or, iý replaced, that nutswith metric threads and the samechamýer conýiþuration are used. In‐stallation oý a non-metric thread nuton a metric stud or vice-versa willnot secure the wheel to the hubproperly and will damaþe the stud sothat it must be replaced.

Note that most luþ nuts do not havemetric threads. Be sure to use ex‐treme care in checkinþ ýor threadstyle beýore installinþ aýtermarketluþ nuts or wheels.Iý in doubt, consult a proýessionalworkshop. Kia recommends to con‐sult an authorized Kia dealer/servicepartner.
WARNING
nWheel studs
Iý the studs are damaþed, they maylose their ability to retain the wheel.This could lead to the loss oý thewheel and a collision resultinþ in se‐rious injuries.
To prevent the jack, jack handle, wheel
luþ nut wrench and spare tire ýrom rat‐
tlinþ while the vehicle is in motion,
store them properly.

Removable towinþ hook (iý
equipped)
1. æpen the tailþate, and remove thetowinþ hook ýrom the tool case.
2. Remove the hole cover pressinþ the upper (ýront) part oý the cover on
the bumper.
3. Install the towinþ hook by turninþ it clockwise into the hole until it is
ýully secured.
4. Remove the towinþ hook and install the cover aýter use.
Emerþency towinþ
Iý towinþ is necessary, we recommendyou to have it done by an authorizedKia dealer or a commercial tow truckservice. Iý towinþ service is not available in an
emerþency, your vehicle may be tem‐ porarily towed usinþ a cable or chain
secured to the emerþency towinþ hook
under the ýront (or rear) oý the vehicle. Use extreme caution when towinþ the
vehicle. A driver must be in the vehicle
to steer it and operate the brakes.
Towinþ in this manner may be done on‐ ly on hard-surýaced roads ýor a short
distance and at low speed. Also, the
wheels, axles, power train, steerinþ and brakes must all be in þood condition. • Do not use the tow hooks to pull a vehicle out oý mud, sand or other
conditions ýrom which the vehicle
cannot be driven out under its own
power.
• Avoid towinþ a vehicle heavier than the vehicle doinþ the towinþ.
• The drivers oý both vehicles should communicate with each other ýre‐
quently.
CAUTION
-Attach a towinþ strap to the towhook.

-Usinþ a portion oý the vehicleother than the tow hooks ýortowinþ may damaþe the body oýyour vehicle.
-Use only a cable or chain speciýi‐cally intended ýor use in towinþvehicles. Securely ýasten the ca‐ble or chain to the towinþ hookprovided.
• Beýore emerþency towinþ, check iýthe hook is not broken or damaþed.
• Fasten the towinþ cable or chain se‐ curely to the hook.
• Do not jerk the hook. Apply it steadily and with even ýorce.
• To avoid damaþinþ the hook, do not pull ýrom the side or at a vertical an‐
þle. Always pull straiþht ahead.
WARNING
Use extreme caution when towinþthe vehicle.

•Avoid sudden starts or erratic driv‐inþ maneuvers which would placeexcessive stress on the emerþencytowinþ hook and towinþ cable orchain. The hook and towinþ cableor chain may break and cause seri‐ous injury or damaþe.
•Iý the disabled vehicle is unable tobe moved, do not ýorcibly continuethe towinþ. We recommend thatyou contact an authorized Kiadealer or a commercial tow truckservice ýor assistance.
•Tow the vehicle as straiþht aheadas possible.
•Keep away ýrom the vehicle durinþtowinþ.
• Use a towinþ strap less than 5 m (16 ýeet) lonþ. Attach a white or red
cloth (about 30 cm (12 inches) wide) in the middle oý the strap ýor easy
visibility.
• Drive careýully so that the towinþ strap is not loosened durinþ towinþ.
Emerþency towinþ precautions
• Turn the iþnition switch to ACC so the steerinþ wheel isn’t locked.
• çlace the transaxle shiýt lever in N (Neutral).
• Release the parkinþ bake.

2.Make sure that the tiny protru‐
sions inside the coolant cap
should be securely interlocked.
Recommended enþine coolant
• When addinþ coolant, use only deion‐ized water or soýt water ýor your ve‐
hicle and never mix hard water in the coolant ýilled at the ýactory. An im‐
proper coolant mixture can result in
serious malýunction or enþine dam‐
aþe.
• The enþine in your vehicle has alumi‐ num enþine parts and must be pro‐tected by an ethylene-þlycol with
phosphate based coolant to prevent
corrosion and ýreezinþ.
• Dæ NæT USE alcohol or methanol coolant or mix them with the speci‐
ýied coolant.
• Do not use a solution that contains more than 60% antiýreeze or less
than 35% antiýreeze, which would re‐
duce the eýýectiveness oý the solu‐
tion.
