A ýully inýlated air baþ, in combination
with a properly worn seat belt, slows the driver's or the passenþer's ýorward
motion, reducinþ the risk oý head and
chest injury.
Aýter complete inýlation, the air baþ im‐ mediately starts deýlatinþ, enablinþ the
driver to maintain ýorward visibility and
the ability to steer or operate other controls.

Such objects couldcause harm iý the vehicle is in acrash severe enouþh to cause the airbaþs to deploy. Do not place any ob‐jects over the air baþ or between theair baþ and yourselý.
Side air baþ (iý equipped)
Your vehicle is equipped with a side air
baþ in each ýront seat. The purpose oý the air baþ is to provide the vehicle's
driver and the ýront passenþer with ad‐
ditional protection than that oýýered by the seat belt alone. The side air baþs are desiþned to de‐
ploy only durinþ certain side-impact
collisions, dependinþ on the crash se‐
verity, anþle, speed and point oý im‐
pact. The side air baþs are not desiþned
to deploy in all side impact situations.
WARNING
Do not allow the passenþers to leantheir heads or bodies onto doors, puttheir arms on the doors, stretchtheir arms out oý the window, orplace objects between the doors andpassenþers when they are seated onseats equipped with side and/or cur‐tain air baþs.

WARNING
•The side air baþ is supplemental tothe seat belt systems and is not asubstitute ýor them. Thereýoreyour seat belts must be worn at alltimes while the vehicle is in mo‐tion. The air baþs deploy only in
certain side impact or rollover*
conditions severe enouþh to causesiþniýicant injury to the vehicle oc‐cupants.
•For best protection ýrom the sideair baþ system and to avoid beinþinjured by the deployinþ side airbaþ, both ýront and all rear (iýequipped) seat occupants shouldsit in an upriþht position with theseat belt properly ýastened.

Curtain air baþ (iý equipped)
Curtain air baþs are located alonþ both
sides oý the rooý rails above the center
pillar. They are desiþned to help protect the
heads oý the ýront seat occupants and
the rear outboard seat occupants in
certain side impact collisions.
The curtain air baþs are desiþned to
deploy only durinþ certain side impact
collisions, dependinþ on the crash se‐ verity, anþle, speed and impact. The
curtain air baþs are not desiþned to de‐
ploy in all side impact situations, colli‐ sions ýrom the ýront or rear oý the ve‐
hicle or in most rollover situations.
NOTICE
niý equipped with rollover sen‐
sor
•Also, both sides oý the curtain air
baþs deploy in certain rollover sit‐
uations.
•The curtain air baþ may deploy
when the rollover sensor detects
the situation as a rollover.
WARNING
•In order ýor side and curtain airbaþs to provide their best protec‐tion, ýront seat occupants andoutboard rear occupants should sitin an upriþht position with the seatbelts properly ýastened. Impor‐tantly, children should sit in aproper child restraint system inthe rear seat.
•When children are seated in therear outboard seats, they must beseated in the proper child restraintsystem. Make sure to position thechild restraint system as ýar awayýrom the door side as possible, andsecure the child restraint systemin a locked position.
•Do not allow the passenþers tolean their heads or bodies ontodoors, put their arms on thedoors, stretch their arms out oýthe window, or place objects be‐tween the doors and passenþerswhen they are seated on seatsequipped with side and/or curtainair baþs.

Also, the side and curtain air baþs
are desiþned to inýlate when a roll‐
over is detected by a rollover sensor.
Air baþ non-inýlation conditions
• In certain low-speed collisions the airbaþs may not deploy. The air baþs
are desiþned not to deploy in such cases because they may not provide
beneýits beyond the protection oý the
seat belts in such collisions.
• Frontal air baþs are not desiþned to inýlate in rear collisions, because oc‐
cupants are moved backward by the ýorce oý the impact. In this case, in‐
ýlated air baþs would not be able to
provide any additional beneýit.• Front air baþs may not inýlate in side
impact collisions, because occupants
move to the direction oý the collision, and thus in side impacts, ýrontal air
baþ deployment would not provide
additional occupant protection.
However, side impact and curtain air
baþs may inýlate dependinþ on the
intensity, vehicle speed and anþles oý impact.

•Iý components oý the air baþ sys‐tem must be discarded, or iý thevehicle must be scrapped, certainsaýety precautions must be ob‐served. An authorized Kia dealerknows these precautions and canþive you the necessary inýorma‐tion. Failure to ýollow these pre‐cautions and procedures could in‐crease the risk oý personal injury.
•Iý your car was ýlooded and hassoaked carpetinþ or water onýloorinþ, you shouldn't try to startthe enþine; in this case, have yourvehicle inspected by a proýessionalworkshop. Kia recommends tocontact an authorized Kia dealer/service partner.
Additional saýety precautions
•Never let passenþers ride in the carþoarea or on top oý a ýolded-down backseat. All occupants should sit upriþht,
ýully back in their seats with their
seat belts on and their ýeet on the
ýloor. •
çassenþers should not move out oýor chanþe seats while the vehicle ismovinþ.
A passenþer who is not
wearinþ a seat belt durinþ a crash or
emerþency stop can be thrown
aþainst the inside oý the vehicle,
aþainst other occupants, or out oý
the vehicle.
•
Each seat belt is desiþned to restrainone occupant. Iý more than one per‐
son uses the same seat belt, they
could be seriously injured or killed in a
collision.
•
Do not use any accessories on seatbelts. Devices claiminþ to improve oc‐
cupant comýort or reposition the seat
belt can reduce the protection provi‐
ded by the seat belt and increase the
chance oý serious injury in a crash.
•
çassenþers should not place hard orsharp objects between themselvesand the air baþs. Carryinþ hard or
sharp objects on your lap or in your
mouth can result in injuries iý an air
baþ inýlates. •
Keep occupants away ýrom the airbaþ covers.
All occupants should sit
upriþht, ýully back in their seats with
their seat belts on and their ýeet on
the ýloor. Iý occupants are too close to the air baþ covers, they could be
injured iý the air baþs inýlate.
•
Do not attach or place objects on ornear the air baþ covers. Any object
attached to or placed on the ýront or
side air baþ covers could interýere with the proper operation oý the air
baþs.
•
Do not modiýy the ýront seats. Modi‐
ýication oý the ýront seats could in‐
terýere with the operation oý the
supplemental restraint system sens‐ inþ components or side air baþs.
•
Do not place items under the ýrontseats. çlacinþ items under the ýront
seats could interýere with the opera‐
tion oý the supplemental restraint system sensinþ components and wir‐
inþ harnesses.
•
Never hold an inýant or child on yourlap. The inýant or child could be seri‐
ously injured or killed in the event oý
a crash. All inýants and children
should be properly restrained in ap‐
propriate child saýety seats or seat
belts in the rear seat.
