Opening the fuel filler lid
The fuel filler lid must be opened
from inside the vehicle by pushing
the fuel filler lid opener button.

NOTICE
If the fuel filler lid will not open
because ice has formed around it,
tap lightly or push on the lid to break
the ice and release the lid. Do not pry
on the lid. If necessary, spray around
the lid with an approved de-icer fluid
(do not use radiator anti-freeze) or
move the vehicle to a warm place
and allow the ice to melt.
1. Stop the engine.
2. Push the fuel filler lid opener but- ton, then the fuel filler lid slowly open (1).
3. To remove the cap, turn the fuel tank cap (2) counterclockwise.
4. Refuel as needed. Closing the fuel filler lid
1. To install the cap, turn it clockwise
until it “clicks”. This indicates that the cap is securely tightened.
2. Close the fuel filler lid and push it lightly and make sure that it issecurely closed.

- Refueling
If pressurized fuel sprays out, it can cover your clothes or
skin and thus subject you to
the risk of fire and burns.
Always remove the fuel cap
carefully and slowly. If the cap
is venting fuel or if you hear a
hissing sound, wait until the
condition stops before com-
pletely removing the cap.
Do not "top off" after the noz- zle automatically shuts offwhen refueling.
Always check that the fuel cap is installed securely to prevent
fuel spillage in the event of anaccident.

Emergency fuel filler lid release If the fuel filler lid does not open using the remote fuel filler lid
release, you can open it manually by
pulling the handle outward slightly.(Continued)
When refueling, always shut
the engine off. Sparks pro-
duced by electrical compo-nents related to the engine
can ignite fuel vapors causing
a fire. Once refueling is com-
plete, check to make sure thefiller cap and filler door are
securely closed, before start-
ing the engine.
DO NOT use matches or a lighter and DO NOT SMOKE or
leave a lit cigarette in your
vehicle while at a gas station
especially during refueling.
Automotive fuel is highly
flammable and can, when
ignited, result in fire.
If a fire breaks out during refu- eling, leave the vicinity of the
vehicle, and immediately con-
tact the manager of the gasstation and then contact the
local fire department. Follow
any safety instructions they
provide.CAUTION
Make sure to refuel your vehi-
cle according to the "Fuelrequirements" suggested insection 1.
If the fuel filler cap requires replacement, please make surethat you use parts designed for replacement in your vehicle.An incorrect fuel filler cap canresult in a serious malfunction of the fuel system or emissioncontrol system. For moredetailed information, we rec-ommend that you contact an authorized Kia dealer.
Do not spill fuel on the exteri- or surfaces of the vehicle. Anytype of fuel spilled on paintedsurfaces may damage the paint.
After refueling, make sure the fuel cap is installed securelyto prevent fuel spillage in theevent of an accident.
CAUTION
Do not pull the handle exces-sively, otherwise the luggagearea trim or release handle may be damaged.

If your vehicle is equipped with a
sunroof, you can slide or tilt your
sunroof with the sunroof control lever
located on the overhead console. The sunroof can only be opened, closed, or tilted when the Engine
Start/Stop button is in the ON position.In cold and wet climates, the sunroof
may not work properly due to freez-
ing conditions.
After the vehicle is washed or in a
rainstorm, be sure to wipe off any
water that is on the sunroof before
operating it. The sunroof cannot slide when it is in the tilt position nor can it be tiltedwhile in an open or slide position.Sunroof open warning (if equipped)
If the driver turns off the engine when the sunroof is not fully closed, the
warning chime will sound for a few
seconds and a warning message will
appear on the LCD display. Close the sunroof securely when
leaving your vehicle.
PANORAMIC SUNROOF (IF EQUIPPED)
CAUTION

Door Open Warning
Light
This warning light illuminates:
When a door is not closed securely.
Trunk Open WarningLight
This warning light illuminates:
When the trunk is not closed secure-
ly.
Overspeed WarningLight (if equipped)
This warning light blinks:
When you drive the vehicle more than 120 km/h.
- This is to prevent you from drivingyour vehicle with overspeed.
- The overspeed warning chime also sound for approximately 5
seconds.
Adaptive Front Lighting
System (AFLS) Warning Light
This warning light blinks:
Once you set the Engine Start/Stop Button to the ON posi- tion.
- It illuminates for approximately 3seconds and then goes off.
When there is a malfunction with the AFLS.
If there is a malfunction with the AFLS:
1. Drive carefully to the nearest safe location and stop your vehicle.
2. Turn the engine off and restart the engine. If the warning light
remains on, we recommend that
you have the vehicle inspected by
an authorized Kia dealer.

The trunk room lamp comes on
when the trunk is opened.
Door courtesy lamp
The door courtesy lamp comes ON when the door is opened to assist
entering or exiting the vehicle. It also
serves as a warning to passing vehi-
cles that the vehicle door is open.

Glove box lamp
The glove box lamp comes on when
the glove box is opened.Vanity mirror lamp
Opening the lid of the vanity mirror
will automatically turn on the mirrorlight.
CAUTION

Always have the switch in the off position when the vanity mir-ror lamp is not in use. If the sun- visor is closed without the lampoff, it may discharge the batteryor damage the sunvisor.

Cup holder✽✽NOTICE
Keep your drinks sealed while driving to prevent spilling your
drink. If liquid spills, it may get
into the vehicle's electrical/elec-
tronic system and damage electri-
cal/electronic parts.
When cleaning spilled liquids, do not dry the cup holder at high
temperature. This may damage
the cup holder.
Cups or small beverage cans may be
placed in the cup holders.
WARNING
Keep cans or bottles out of direct sun light and do not put
them in a vehicle that is heated
up. It may explode.
WARNING - Hot liquids
Do not place uncovered cups of hot liquid in the cup holder
while the vehicle is in motion.
If the hot liquid spills, you
could be burned. Such a burnto the driver could lead to loss
of control of the vehicle.
To reduce the risk of personal injury in the event of sudden
stop or collision, do not place
uncovered or unsecured bot-
tles, glasses, cans, etc., in the
cup holder while the vehicle isin motion.

Rear mirror (if equipped)
To use the rear mirror, press the
cover and it will slowly open and the
mirror lamp will turn on.Bag hanger (if equipped)
Pull the strap (1) to hang a bag on the hook (2).
When you are not use the hook, fold the hook.WARNING
The following must be observed when installing ANY floor mat
to the vehicle.
Ensure that the floor mats are securely attached to the vehi-
cle's floor mat anchor(s)
before driving the vehicle.
Do not use ANY floor mat that cannot be firmly attached to
the vehicle's floor mat anchors.
Do not stack floor mats on top of one another (e.g. all-weath-er rubber mat on top of a car-
peted floor mat). Only a singlefloor mat should be installed
in each position.
IMPORTANT - Your vehicle was
manufactured with driver's side
floor mat anchors that are
designed to securely hold the
floor mat in place. To avoid any
interference with pedal opera-
tion, we recommend that the Kia
floor mat designed for use in
your vehicle be installed.

Driving your vehicle
Manual mode
Whether the vehicle is stationary or
in motion, sports mode is selected by
pushing the shift lever from the D
(Drive) position into the manual gate.
To return to D (Drive) range opera-
tion, push the shift lever back into the
main gate.
In manual mode, moving the shift
lever backwards and forwards will
allow you to make gearshifts rapidly.
Up (+) : Push the lever forward onceto shift up one gear.
Down (-) : Pull the lever backwards
once to shift down one gear.

NOTICE
In manual mode, the driver must execute upshifts in accordance
with road conditions, taking care
to keep the engine speed below the
red zone.
In manual mode, only the 8 for- ward gears can be selected. To
reverse or park the vehicle, move
the shift lever to the R (Reverse)
or P (Park) position as required.
In manual mode, downshifts are made automatically when the
vehicle slows down. When the
vehicle stops, 1st gear is automati-
cally selected.
In manual mode, when the engine rpm approaches the red zone shift
points are varied to upshift auto-
matically.
To maintain the required levels of vehicle performance and safety,
the system may not execute cer-
tain gearshifts when the shift lever

When driving on a slippery road,
push the shift lever forward into
the +(up) position. This causes the
transmission to shift into the 2nd
gear which is better for smooth
driving on a slippery road. Push
the shift lever to the -(down) side
to shift back to the 1st gear.
