Front passenger’s air bag Front passenger’s air bag is stored in the
instrument panel on the glove box.
Never put any objects or ornaments on
the instrument panel.

WARNING
- Steering
wheel
You must always sit as far back
from the steering wheel air bag as
possible (chest at least 250 mm
(10 inches ) away from the steer-
ing wheel), while still maintaining
a comfortable seating position for
good vehicle control, in order to
reduce the risk of injury or death
in a collision.
Never place objects over the air bag storage compartments or
between the air bags and your-
self. Due to the speed and force of
the air bag inflation, such objects
could hit your body at high speed
and cause severe bodily injury
and even death.
Do not put stickers or ornaments on the steering wheel cover.
These may interfere with the
deployment of the air bag.
WARNING
The front seat passenger’s air bagis much larger than the steering
wheel air bag and inflates with
considerably more force. It can
seriously hurt or kill a passenger
who is not in the proper position
and wearing the safety belt prop-
erly. The front passengers should
always move their seat as far
back as practical and sit back in
their seat.
It is essential that the front pas- sengers always wear their safety
belts when vehicle is in motion,
even when the vehicle is moving
in a parking lot or up a driveway
into garage.
If the driver brakes the vehicle heavily in urgent situations, occu-
pants will be thrown forward. If
front passengers are not wearing
the safety belts, they will be
directly in front of the air bags
when inflation occurs. In that sit-
uation, severe injury or death is
possible.

NOTICE• To avoid possible theft, do not leave
valuables in the storage compartment.
• Since stored items may move while driving, be sure to position them in
the storage compartment so that they
do not make noise or cause a potential
safety hazard when the vehicle is mov-
ing.
• Always keep the storage compartment covers closed while driving. Do not
attempt to place many items in the
storage compartment that the storage
compartment cover can not close
securely.
Multi box (if equipped)To open the cover located above the cig-
arette lighter/power outlet, push the but-
ton and pull the cover down. It can be
used for storing small items.
Glove boxTo open the glove box, pull the handle (1)
and the glove box will automatically open
(2). Close the glove box after use.
STORAGE COMPARTMENT
WARNING -
Flammable
materials
Do not store cigarette lighters,
propane cylinders, or other flamma-
ble/explosive materials in the vehi-
cle. These items may catch fire
and/or explode if the vehicle is
exposed to hot temperatures for
extended periods.

CAUTION
To reduce the risk of injury in case
of an accident or sudden stop,always keep the glove box door closed while driving.

7CLIMATE CONTROL AIR FILTER (IF EQUIPPED)The climate control air filter installed
behind the glove box filters the dust or
other pollutants that come into the vehi-
cle from the outside through the heating
and air conditioning system. If dust or
other pollutants accumulate in the filter
over a period of time, the air flow from the
air vents may decrease, resulting in
moisture accumulation on the inside of
the windshield even when the outside
(fresh) are position is selected. If this
happens, have the climate control air fil-
ter replaced by an authorized Kia dealer. The climate control air filter should be
replaced every 15,000 km (10,000
miles). If the vehicle is operated in the
severely air-polluted cities or on dusty
rough roads for a long period, it should
be inspected more frequently and
replaced earlier. When you try to replace
the climate control air filter by owner
maintenance, replace it performing the
following procedure, and in this case, be
careful to avoid damaging other compo-
nents.
