Impact sensing door unlock
system (if equipped)
All doors will automatically unlock
when an impact causes the air bags
to deploy.
Auto door lock/unlock feature
(if equipped)
All doors will automatically lock
when the transmission shift lever is
shifted out of P (Park).
All doors will automatically unlock when the transmission shift lever is
shifted into P (Park).
Speed sensing door lock sys-
tem (if equipped)
All doors will be automatically locked
after the vehicle speed exceeds 15
km/h (9 mph). And all doors will be
automatically unlocked when you
turn the engine off or when you
remove the ignition key.
An authorized Kia dealer can acti-
vate or deactivate some auto door
lock/unlock features as follows;
Auto door unlock by using the dri-ver's door lock button
Auto door lock/unlock by shifting the transmission shift lever out of P
(Park) or into P (Park)
Auto door unlock when the ignition key is removed from the ignition
switch (for smart key, when the
ENGINE START/STOP button is
turned to the OFF position)
If you want to activate or deactivate
some door lock/unlock feature, con-
sult an authorized Kia dealer.
Child-protector rear door lock
The child safety lock is provided to
help prevent children from acciden-
tally opening the rear doors from
inside the vehicle. The rear door
safety locks should be used whenev-
er children are in the vehicle.
1. Open the rear door.
2. Insert a key (or screwdriver) into the hole and turn it to the lock ( )
position. the child safety lock locat-
ed on the rear edge of the door to
the lock position. When the child
safety lock is in the lock position, the
rear door will not open even when
the inner door handle is pulled.

Opening the hood
1. Pull the release lever to unlatchthe hood. The hood should pop
open slightly. 2. Go to the front of the vehicle, raise
the hood slightly, push the second-
ary latch (1) inside of the hood
center and lift the hood (2). 3. Pull the support rod from the
hood.
4. Hold the hood open with the sup- port rod.

Grasp the support rod in the
area wrapped in rubber. The
rubber will help prevent you
from being burned by hot metal
when the engine is hot.WARNING
Open the hood after turning off
the engine on a flat surface,
shifting the shift lever to the P
(Park) position for Intelligent
Variable Transmission and to the
1st (First) gear or R (Reverse) for
Manual Transmission, and set-
ting the parking brake.

The outside temperature on the dis-
play may not change immediately
like a general thermometer to pre-
vent the driver from being inattentive.
To change the temperature unit (from
°C to °F or from °F to °C)
Press the TRIP button for 5 seconds
and more.
The temperature unit can be
changed by using the “User Settings”
mode of the LCD Windows.

Intelligent Variable Transmission
(if equipped)
This indicator displays which intelli-
gent variable transmission shift lever
is selected.
Reverse : R
Neutral : N

Manual Transmission shift indica-tor (if equipped)
This indicator informs which gear is
desired while driving to save fuel.

you try to adjust the User Settings
while driving.
- Intelligent variable transmission
For your safety, change the User
Settings after parking the vehicle,
applying the parking brake and mov-
ing the shift lever to P (Park).
- Manual Transmission
For your safety, change the User
Settings after engaging the parking
brake and moving the shift lever to N

Automatically Lock
- Enable on Speed : All doors will be
automatically locked when the
vehicle speed exceeds 15 km/h (9
mph).
- Enable on Shift : All doors will be automatically locked if the intelli-
gent variable transmission shift
lever is shifted from the P (Park)
position to the R (Reverse), N
(Neutral), or D (Drive) position.
(With the Engine ON, it is activat-
ed.)

Automatically Unlock
- Disable : The auto door unlock
operation will be canceled.
- Vehicle Off/On, Key out : All doors will be automatically unlocked
when the ignition key is removed
from the ignition switch or the
Engine Start/Stop button is set to
the OFF position.
- On Shift to P : All doors will be automatically unlocked if the intelli-
gent variable transmission shift
lever is shifted to the P (Park) posi-
tion. (With the Engine ON, it is acti-
vated.) Two Press Unlock (if equipped)
- Off : The two press unlock function
will be deactivated. Therefore, all
doors will unlock if the unlock but-
ton on the driver's door is pressed.
- On : The driver's door will unlock if the unlock button on the driver's
door is pressed. When the same
button is pressed again within 4
seconds, all doors will unlock.
Horn Feedback (if equipped) :If
this item is checked, the door lock
sound function will be activated
when locking doors.
Smart Trunk (if equipped) :To
activate or deactivate the Smart
Trunk system.

One Touch Turn Signal
- Off : The one touch turn signal
function will be deactivated.
- 3, 5, 7 Flashes : The lane change signals will blink 3, 5, or 7 times
when the turn signal lever is moved
slightly.

Head Lamp Delay
- If this item is checked, the head lamp delay function will be activat-
ed.

Sunroof Open (if equipped)
This warning is displayed if youturn off the engine when the sun-
roof is open. Engine has overheated
This warning message illuminates
when the engine coolant tempera-
ture is above 120°C (248°F). This
means that the engine is overheated
and may be damaged.

If your vehicle is overheated, refer
to “Overheating” in chapter 7.
Shift to P (for smart key system and
intelligent variable transmission)
This warning message illuminates if you try to turn off the engine without
the shift lever in P (Park) position.
At this time, the Engine Start/Stop Button turns to the ACC position (If
you press the Engine Start/Stop
Button once more, it will turn to the
ON position). Low Key Battery
(for smart key system)
This warning message illuminates
if the battery of the smart key is
discharged when the Engine
Start/Stop Button changes to the
OFF position.
Press START button while turn steer-
ing (for smart key system)
This warning message illuminates if the steering wheel does not
unlock normally when the Engine
Start/Stop Button is pressed.
It means that you should press the Engine Start/Stop Button while
turning the steering wheel right
and left.

Steering wheel unlocked
(for smart key system)
This warning message illuminates
if the steering wheel does not lock
when the Engine Start/Stop Button
changes to the OFF position.
Check Steering Wheel Lock System
(for smart key system)
This warning message illuminates if the steering wheel does not lock
normally when the Engine
Start/Stop Button changes to the
OFF position. Press brake pedal to start engine
(for smart key system and intelligent
variable transmission)
This warning message illuminates
if the Engine Start/Stop Button
changes to the ACC position twice
by pressing the button repeatedly
without depressing the brake pedal.
It means that you should depress the brake pedal to start the engine.
Press clutch pedal to start engine (for
smart key system and manual transmis-
sion)
This warning message illuminates if the Engine Start/Stop Button
changes to the ACC position twice
by pressing the button repeatedly
without depressing the clutch pedal.
It means that you should depress the clutch pedal to start the engine. Key not in vehicle (for smart key system)
This warning message illuminates
if the smart key is not in the vehicle
when you press the Engine
Start/Stop Button.
It means that you should always have the smart key with you.
Key not detected (for smart key system)
This warning message illuminates if the smart key is not detected
when you press the Engine
Start/Stop Button.

(for smart key system)
This warning message illuminatesif you can not operate the Engine
Start/Stop Button when there is a
problem with the Engine Start/Stop
Button system.
It means that you could start the engine by pressing the Engine
Start/ Stop Button once more.
If the warning illuminates each time you press the Engine
Start/Stop Button, have your vehi-
cle inspected by an authorized Kia
dealer. Press START button with smart key
(for smart key system)
This warning message illuminates
if you press the Engine Start/Stop
Button while the warning message
“Key not detected” is illuminating.
At this time, the immobilizer indica- tor light blinks.
Check fuse “BRAKE SWITCH”
(for smart key system and intelligent
variable transmission)
This warning message illuminates if the brake switch fuse is discon-
nected.
It means that you should replace the fuse with a new one. If that is
not possible, you can start the
engine by pressing the Engine
Start/Stop Button for 10 seconds in
the ACC position. Shift to P or N to start engine
(for smart key system and intelligent
variable transmission)
This warning message illuminates
if you try to start the engine with
the shift lever not in the P (Park) or
N (Neutral) position.
✽ ✽ NOTICE
You can start the engine with the
shift lever in the N (Neutral) position.
But, for your safety, we recommend
that you start the engine with the
shift lever in the P (Park) position.
