When the door is opened, or if the
engine is not started within 1 minute,
the tachometer pointer may move
slightly in the ON position with the
engine OFF. This movement is nor-
mal and will not affect the accuracy
of the tachometer once the engine is
running.
Engine temperature gauge
This gauge shows the temperature
of the engine coolant when the igni-
tion switch is ON.
Do not continue driving with an over-
heated engine. If your vehicle over-
heats, refer to “If the engine over-
heats” in section 6. If the gauge pointer moves beyond
the normal range area toward the “H”
position, it indicates overheating that
may damage the engine.

Do not operate the engine with-
in the tachometer's RED ZONE.
This may cause severe enginedamage.

Fuel gauge
The fuel gauge indicates the approx-
imate amount of fuel remaining in the
fuel tank. The fuel tank capacity is
given in section 8. The fuel gauge is
supplemented by a low fuel warning
light, which will illuminate when the
fuel tank is nearly empty.
On inclines or curves, the fuel gauge
pointer may fluctuate or the low fuel
warning light may come on earlier
than usual due to the movement of
fuel in the tank.
Odometer (km)
The odometer indicates the total dis-
tance the vehicle has been driven.
You will also find the odometer useful
to determine when periodic mainte-
nance should be performed.
WARNING - Fuel gauge
Stop and obtain additional fuel
as soon as possible after the
warning light comes on or when
the gauge indicator comes
close to the E level. Running out
of fuel can expose vehicle occu-
pants to danger.
CAUTION - Low fuel
Avoid driving with extremelylow fuel level. Running out offuel could cause the engine tomisfire, damaging catalytic con-verter.

Trip computer (if equipped)
The trip computer is a microcomput-
er-controlled driver information sys-
tem that displays information related
to driving on the display when the
ignition switch is in the ON position.
All stored driving information (except
distance to empty) is reset if the bat-
tery is disconnected.
Tripmeter (km)
This mode indicates the distance of
individual trips selected since the
last tripmeter reset.
The meter's working range is from
0.0 to 999.9 km.

Pressing the TRIP button for more
than 1 second, when the tripmeter is
being displayed, clears the tripmeter
to zero (0.0).Distance to empty (km)
This mode indicates the estimated
distance to empty based on the cur-
rent fuel in the fuel tank and the
amount of fuel delivered to the
engine. When the remaining distance
is below 50 km, “---” will be displayed
and the distance to empty indicator
will blink.The meter’s working range is from 50
to 1500 km.
If the vehicle is not on level ground
or the battery power has been
interrupted, the “Distance to
empty” function may not operate
correctly.
The trip computer may not register
additional fuel if less than 6 liters
(1.6 gallons) of fuel are added to
the vehicle.
The fuel consumption and distance to empty values may vary signifi-
cantly based on driving conditions,
driving habits, and condition of the
vehicle.
The distance to empty value is an estimate of the available driving
distance. This value may differ from
the actual driving distance avail-
able.

Average fuel consumption (l/100 km)
This mode calculates the average
fuel consumption from the total fuel
used and the distance since the last
average consumption reset. The total
fuel used is calculated from the fuel
consumption input. For an accurate calculation, drive
more than 50 m (0.03 miles).
Pressing the TRIP button for more
than 1 second, when the average
fuel consumption is being displayed,
clears the average fuel consumption
to zero (--.-).
If the vehicle speed exceeds 1km/h
(1.6 MPH) after being refueled with
more than 6 l
(1.6 gallons), the aver-
age fuel economy will be cleared to
zero (----).
Instant fuel economy (if equipped)
(L/100 km or MPG)
This mode calculates the instant fuel
consumption during the last few sec-
onds.

Driving time
This mode indicates the total time
traveled since the last driving time
reset.
Even if the vehicle is not in motion,
the driving time keeps going while
the engine is running.The meter’s working range is from
00:00~99:59.
Pressing the TRIP button for more
than 1 second, when the driving time
is being displayed, clears the driving
time to zero (00:00).

You can turn the shift indicator on/off
on the instrument cluster in this
mode.
If you push the TRIP button for more
than 1 second in the ECO ON mode,
ECO OFF is displayed in the screen
and the shift indicator turns off.
If you want to display the shift indica-
tor again, press the TRIP button for
more than 1 second in the ECO OFF
mode and then ECO ON mode is
displayed in the screen.
Outside temperature
The current outside temperature is
displayed in 1°C (1°F) increments.
The temperature range is between
-40°C ~ 60°C (- 40°F ~ 140°F). The outside temperature on the dis-
play may not change immediately
like a general thermometer to pre-
vent the driver from being inatten-
tive.
To convert from °F to °C or °C to °F press the TRIP button for more than
1 seconds in the Distance to empty
mode.

Manual transaxle shift indica-
tor (if equipped)
This indicator informs you which
gear is desired while driving to save
fuel.For example
: Indicates that shifting up to the3rd gear is desired (currently
the shift lever is in the 2nd or 1st
gear).
: Indicates that shifting down to the 3rd gear is desired (current-
ly the shift lever is in the 4th or
5th gear).
If you don’t want the indicator dis- played, you can turn it off by press-
ing the TRIP button for more than 1
second in the ECO ON mode.
The ECO ON mode will change to
the ECO OFF mode.
If you want the indicator displayed, press the TRIP button for more
than 1 second in the ECO OFF
mode.
The ECO OFF mode will change to
the ECO ON mode.
Automatic transaxle shift posi-
tion indicator (if equipped)
The indicator displays which auto-
matic transaxle shift lever is select-
ed.

Warnings and indicators
All warning lights are checked by
turning the ignition switch ON (do not
start the engine). Any light that does
not illuminate should be checked by
an authorized Kia dealer.
After starting the engine, check to
make sure that all warning lights are
off. If any warning lights are still on,
this indicates a situation that needs
attention. When releasing the park-
ing brake, the brake system warning
light should go off. The fuel warning
light will stay on if the fuel level is low. ECOMINDER
®indicator
(if equipped)
When the active ECO is operating
the ECOMINDER®indicator is
green.
For more detailed information, refer
to “Active ECO” in chapter 5.
ECOWARNING
- ECOMINDER®indicator
Don't keep watching the “ECO”
ECOMINDER®indicator while
driving. It may distract you
while driving and cause an acci-
dent.

Air bag warning light
This warning light will illuminate for
approximately 6 seconds each time
you turn the ignition switch to the ON
position.
This light also comes on when the
Supplemental Restraint System
(SRS) is not working properly. If the
AIR BAG warning light does not
come on, or continuously remains on
after operating for about 6 seconds
when you turned the ignition switch
to the ON position or started the
engine, or if it comes on while driv-
ing, have the SRS inspected by an
authorized Kia dealer.
Anti-lock brake system(ABS) warning light
This warning light illuminates if the
ignition switch is turned ON and goes
off in approximately 3 seconds if the
system is operating normally.
If the ABS warning light remains on,
comes on while driving, or does not
come on when the ignition switch is
turned to the ON position, this indi-
cates that the ABS may have mal-
functioned.
If this occurs, have your vehicle
checked by an authorized Kia dealer
as soon as possible. The normal
braking system will still be opera-
tional, but without the assistance of
the anti-lock brake system. Electronic brake
force distribu-
tion (EBD) sys-
tem warning
light
If these two warning lights shown illu-
minate at the same time while driv-
ing, the ABS and EBD system may
have malfunctioned.
In this case, your ABS and regular
brake system may not work normally.
Have the vehicle checked by an
authorized Kia dealer as soon as
possible.
If the ABS warning light or EBD
warning light is on and stays on, the
speedometer or odometer/tripmeter
may not work. In this case, have your
vehicle checked by an authorized Kia
dealer as soon as possible.
