Always keep the charging connec-tor and charging plug in clean and
dry condition. Be sure to keep the
charging cable in a condition
where there is no water or mois-
ture.
Make sure to use the designated charger for charging the electric
vehicle. Using any other charger
may cause failure.
Before charging the battery, turn the vehicle [OFF].
Be careful not to drop the charging connector. The charging connec-
tor can be damaged.

Other Precautions for
Electric Vehicle
When you paint or apply heattreatment to the vehicle as a result
of an accident, the performance of
the high voltage battery can be
reduced.
If heat treatment is required, we
recommend that you contact an
authorized Kia dealer.
An air inlet is installed under thefront seat for cooling the driving
battery. Do not block the air inlet
with a foreign substance.

CAUTION- Non-genuine
parts
Do not use, remodel, or installnon-genuine parts.
This may damage the electricpower system.
WARNING- Damaging
Battery
When you clean the motor com-
partment, do not use high pres-
sure water to wash. This may
cause an electric shock due to a
discharge in high voltage elec-
tricity.
CAUTION
If you tow the vehicle while the front wheels are touching theground, the vehicle motor maygenerate electricity and themotor components may bedamaged or a fire may occur.

NOTICE
Never place anything over the sen-
sor located on the instrument panel
to ensure better control of the heat-
ing and cooling system.
Manual heating and air
conditioning
The heating and cooling system can
be controlled manually by pushing
buttons other than the AUTO button.
In this case, the system works
sequentially according to the order of
buttons selected.
When pressing any button (or turning
any knob) except AUTO button while
automatic operation, the functions
not selected will be controlled auto-
matically. 1. Start the vehicle.
2. Set the mode to the desired posi-
tion.
3. Set the temperature control to the desired position.
4. Set the air intake control to the outside (fresh) air position.
5. Set the fan speed control to the desired speed.
6. If air conditioning is desired, turn the air conditioning system on.
7. If heater is desired, press the HEAT button.
Press the AUTO button in order to
convert to full automatic control of
the system.

Heating
1. Set the mode to the position.
2. Set the air intake control to theoutside (fresh) air position.
3. Set the temperature control to the desired position.
4. Set the fan speed control to the desired speed.
5. If dehumidified heating is desired, turn the air conditioning system on.
If the windshield fogs up, set the mode to the
orposition. Operation Tips
To keep dust or unpleasant fumes
from entering the vehicle through
the ventilation system, temporarily
set the air intake control to the
recirculated air position. Be sure to
return the control to the fresh air
position when the irritation has
passed to keep fresh air in the
vehicle. This will help keep the driv-
er alert and comfortable.
Air for the heating/cooling system is drawn in through the grilles just
ahead of the windshield. Care
should be taken that these are not
blocked by leaves, snow, ice or
other obstructions.
To prevent interior fog on the wind- shield, set the air intake control to
the fresh air position and fan speed
to the desired position, turn on the
air conditioning system, and adjust
the temperature control to desired
temperature.
Air conditioning
All Kia Air Conditioning Systems are
filled with R-134a refrigerant.
1. Start the vehicle. Press the air conditioning button.
2. Set the mode to the position.
3. Set the air intake control to the outside air or recirculated air posi-
tion.
4. Adjust the fan speed control and temperature control to maintain
maximum comfort.
When maximum cooling is desired, set the temperature control to the
extreme left position, set the mode
control to the MAX A/C position,
then set the fan speed control to
the highest speed.

Air conditioning system operation tips
If the vehicle has been parked in
direct sunlight during hot weather,
open the windows for a short time
to let the hot air inside the vehicle
escape.
To help reduce moisture inside of the windows on rainy or humid
days, decrease the humidity inside
the vehicle by operating the air
conditioning system.
During air conditioning system operation, you may occasionally
notice a slight change in vehicle
speed as the air conditioning com-
pressor cycles. This is a normal
system operation characteristic.
Use the air conditioning system every month only for a few minutes
to ensure maximum system per-
formance. When using the air conditioning
system, you may notice clear water
dripping (or even puddling) on the
ground under the passenger side
of the vehicle. This is a normal sys-
tem operation characteristic.
Operating the air conditioning sys- tem in the recirculated air position
provides maximum cooling, how-
ever, continual operation in this
mode may cause the air inside the
vehicle to become stale.
During cooling operation, you may occasionally notice a misty air flow
because of rapid cooling and
humid air intake. This is a normal
system operation characteristic.CAUTION- Excessive A/C
When using the air condition- ing system, monitor thecoolant closely while drivingup hills or in heavy trafficwhen outside temperaturesare high. Air conditioning sys-tem operation may causeoverheating. Continue to usethe blower fan but turn the airconditioning system off if theengine coolant temperaturegauge indicates overheating.
When opening the windows in humid weather, air condition-ing may create water dropletsinside the vehicle. Sinceexcessive water droplets maycause damage to electricalequipment, air conditioningshould only be used with thewindows closed.

For maximum defrosting, set thetemperature control to the extreme
right/hot position and the fan speed
control to the highest speed.
If warm air to the floor is desired while defrosting or defogging, set the
mode to the floor-defrost position.
Before driving, clear all snow and ice from the windshield, rear win-
dow, outside rear view mirrors, and
all side windows.
Clear all snow and ice from the hood and air inlet in the cowl grille
to improve heater and defroster
efficiency and to reduce the proba-
bility of fogging up inside of the
windshield.Automatic climate control
system
To defog inside windshield
1. Set the fan speed to the desired position.
2. Select desired temperature.
WINDSHIELD DEFROSTING AND DEFOGGING
WARNING - Windshield heating
Do not use the or posi-
tion during cooling operation in
extremely humid weather. The
difference between the temper-
ature of the outside air and that
of the windshield could cause
the outer surface of the wind-
shield to fog up, causing loss of
visibility. In this case, set the
mode selection knob or button
to the position and fan
speed control knob or button to
the lower speed.
