•For safe driving, please note thatthe TPMS is not a substitute forproper tire maintenance. It is thedriver’s responsibility to maintaincorrect tire pressure, and all tiresshould be checked monthly tomaintain the recommended pres‐sure.
•The warning light may illuminate ifthe system is not set in requiredsituations.
•In cold weather, the low tire pres‐sure warning light may illuminateeven if the tire was adjusted tothe proper pressure. It does notmean your TPMS is malfunctioningbecause the decreased tempera‐ture leads to a lowering of tirepressure. Check the tires and ad‐just to the recommended pressure.
•System performance may reducein the following situations.-Improper system setting

•When filling tires with more air,conditions to turn off the low tirepressure telltale may not be met.This is because a tire inflator has amargin of error in performance.The low tire pressure telltale willbe turned off if the tire pressure isabove the recommended tire infla‐tion pressure.
WARNING
•Driving with an under-inflated tirecauses the tire to overheat andlead to tire failure. It also reducestire tread life, handling of the vehi‐cle, braking ability, and fuel effi‐ciency, causing instability of thevehicle. In this case, contact pro‐fessional workshop to maintainproper tire pressure. Kia recom‐mends to contact an authorizedKia dealer/service partner.
•Sudden damage to the tire causedby external factors may not be in‐dicated immediately. If the vehicleis unstable, immediately removeyour foot off the accelerator ped‐al, move the vehicle to a safe posi‐tion for inspection.
Tire Pressure Monitoring
System malfunction
The TPMS malfunction indicator will il‐
luminate () after it blinks for approx‐
imately 1 minute when there is a prob‐ lem with the Tire Pressure Monitoring
System. This sequence will continue upon subsequent vehicle start-ups as
long as the malfunction exists.

If the indicator remains illuminated or
illuminates even after TPMS setting, have the system checked by a profes‐
sional workshop. Kia recommends to
visit an authorized Kia dealer/service partner.
WARNING
•If there is a malfunction with theTPMS, low tire pressure will not beindicated. In this case, have thesystem serviced by a professionalworkshop. Kia recommends to visitan authorized Kia dealer/servicepartner.
•If the system does not work dueto TPMS removal or installation ofrelated parts with different speci‐fication, it might be a problemwhen the vehicle is being regularlyinspected.

removing the wheel lug nuts, make
sure the vehicle is stable and that
there is no chance for movement or slippage.
9. Loosen the wheel nuts and remove them with your fingers. Slide the
wheel off the studs and lay it flat
so it cannot roll away. To put the
wheel on the hub, pick up the spare
tire, line up the holes with the studs and slide the wheel onto
them.
If this is difficult, tip the wheel
slightly and get the top hole in the
wheel lined up with the top stud.
Then jiggle the wheel back and
forth until the wheel can be slid
over the other studs.
WARNING
Wheels may have sharp edges. Han‐dle them carefully to avoid possiblesevere injury. Before putting thewheel into place, be sure that thereis nothing on the hub or wheel (suchas mud, tar, gravel, etc.) that inter‐feres with the wheel from fittingsolidly against the hub.

If there is, remove it. If there is notgood contact on the mounting sur‐face between the wheel and hub,the wheel nuts could come loose andcause the loss of a wheel. Loss of awheel may result in loss of control ofthe vehicle. This may cause seriousinjury or death.
10. To reinstall the wheel, hold it on the studs, put the wheel nuts on the
studs and tighten them finger
tight. Jiggle the tire to be sure it is
completely seated, then tighten
the nuts as much as possible with
your fingers again.
11. Lower the vehicle to the ground by turning the wheel nut wrenchcounterclockwise.
Then position the wrench as shown in
the drawing and tighten the wheel nuts. Be sure the socket is seated com‐
pletely over the nut. Do not stand on
the wrench handle or use an extension pipe over the wrench handle. Go around
the wheel tightening every other nut
until they are all tight. Then double- check each nut for tightness. After
changing wheels, have the system
checked by a professional workshop. Kia recommends to visit an authorized
Kia dealer/service partner.
Wheel nut tightening torque:

•When replacing or repairing thetire after using tire sealant, makecertain to remove the sealant at‐tached to the inner part of the tireand wheel. If the sealant is not re‐moved, noise and vibration mayoccur.
•We recommend to use original Kiamanufactured sealant.

The following lists are vehicle checks
and inspections that should be per‐
formed at the frequencies indicated to help ensure safe, dependable operation
of your vehicle.
Any adverse conditions should be
brought to the attention of your dealer as soon as possible.
These Owner Maintenance Checks are
generally not covered by warranties
and you may be charged for labor, parts and lubricants used.
Owner maintenance schedule
When you stop for fuel:
• Check the engine oil level.
• Check the coolant level in the coolant reservoir.
• Check the windshield washer fluid level.
• Look for low or under-inflated tires.
WARNING
Be careful when checking your en‐gine coolant level when the engine ishot. Scalding hot coolant and steam

may blow out under pressure. Thiscould cause burns or other seriousinjury.
While operating your vehicle:
• Note any changes in the sound of the exhaust or any smell of exhaust
fumes in the vehicle.
• Check for vibrations in the steering wheel. Notice any increased steering

wheel, or change in its straight-
ahead position.

FUEL FILTER (FOR DIESEL)
Draining water from the fuel
filter
The fuel filter for diesel engine plays an
important role of separating water
from fuel and accumulating the water in its bottom.
If water accumulates in the fuel filter,
the warning light comes on when the
ignition switch is in the ON position.
If this warning light illumi‐ nates, take your car to a pro‐
fessional workshop and havedrain the water and check the
system. Kia recommends tovisit an authorized Kia dealer/
service partner.
CAUTION
If the water accumulated in the fuelfilter is not drained at proper times,damages to the major parts such asthe fuel system can be caused bywater permeation in the fuel filter.
Fuel filter cartridge replacement

BATTERY
For best battery service
• Keep the battery securely mounted.
• Keep the battery top clean and dry.
• Keep the terminals and connectionsclean, tight, and coated with petrole‐
um jelly or terminal grease.
• Rinse any spilled electrolyte from the battery immediately with a solution
of water and baking soda.
• If the vehicle is not going to be used for an extended time, disconnect the
battery cables.
NOTICE
Basically equipped battery is main‐
tenance free type. If your vehicle is
equipped with the battery marked
with LOWER and UPPER on the side,
you can check the electrolyte level.
The electrolyte level should be be‐
tween LOWER and UPPER. If the
electrolyte level is low, it needs to
add distilled (demineralized) water
(Never add sulfuric acid or other
electrolyte). When refill, be careful
not to splash the battery and adja‐
cent components. And do not overfill
the battery cells. It can cause corro‐
sion on other parts. After then en‐
sure that tighten the cell caps. Con‐
tact a professional workshop. Kia

Battery recharging
Your vehicle has a maintenance-free,
calcium-based battery. • If the battery becomes discharged in a short time (because, for example,the headlights or interior lights were
left on while the vehicle was not in
use), recharge it by slow charging
(trickle) for 10 hours.
• If the battery gradually discharges because of high electric load while
the vehicle is being used, recharge it
at 20-30A for two hours.
WARNING
nRecharging battery
When recharging the battery, ob‐serve the following precautions:•The battery must be removedfrom the vehicle and placed in anarea with good ventilation.
•Do not allow cigarettes, sparks, orflame near the battery.
•Watch the battery during charg‐ing, and stop or reduce the charg‐ing rate if the battery cells begingassing (boiling) violently or if thetemperature of the electrolyte ofany cell exceeds 49°C (120°F).
•Wear eye protection when check‐ing the battery during charging.
•Disconnect the battery charger inthe following order.1.Turn off the battery chargermain switch.
2.Unhook the negative clampfrom the negative battery ter‐minal.
3.Unhook the positive clamp fromthe positive battery terminal.
WARNING
•Before performing maintenance orrecharging the battery, turn off allaccessories and stop the engine.
•The negative battery cable mustbe removed first and installed lastwhen the battery is disconnected.
•Operation related to the battery isrecommended to be done by aprofessional workshop. Kia recom‐mends to visit an authorized Kiadealer/service partner.

Compact spare tire replacement (if
equipped)
A compact spare tire has a shortertread life than a regular size tire. Re‐
place it when you can see the tread
wear indicator bars on the tire. The re‐ placement compact spare tire should be
the same size and design tire as the
one provided with your new vehicle and
should be mounted on the same com‐ pact spare tire wheel. The compact
spare tire is not designed to be moun‐
ted on a regular size wheel, and the compact spare tire wheel is not de‐
signed for mounting a regular size tire.
Wheel replacement
When replacing the metal wheels for
any reason, make sure the new wheels are equivalent to the original factory
units in diameter, rim width and offset.
WARNING
A wheel that is not the correct sizemay adversely affect wheel andbearing life, braking and stoppingabilities, handling characteristics,ground clearance, body-to-tire

clearance, snow chain clearance,speedometer and odometer calibra‐tion, headlight aim and bumperheight.
Tire traction
Tire traction can be reduced if you drive
on worn tires, tires that are improperly inflated or on slippery road surfaces.
Tires should be replaced when tread
wear indicators appear. Slow down whenever there is rain, snow or ice on
the road to reduce the possibility of
losing control of the vehicle.
Tire maintenance
In addition to proper inflation, correct
wheel alignment helps to decrease tire wear. If you find a tire is worn uneven‐
ly, have a professional workshop check
the wheel alignment. Kia recommends to visit an authorized Kia dealer/service
partner.
When you have new tires installed,
make sure they are balanced. This will increase vehicle ride comfort and tire
life. Additionally, a tire should always
be rebalanced if it is removed from the wheel.
Tire sidewall labeling
This information identifies and de‐
scribes the fundamental characteristics of the tire and also provides the tire
identification number (TIN) for safety
standard certification. The TIN can be used to identify the tire in case of a re‐
call.

A vehicle’s electrical system is protec‐
ted from electrical overload damage by fuses.
This vehicle has 2 (or 3) fuse panels,
one located in the driver’s side panel
bolster, the others in the engine com‐ partment near the battery.
If any of your vehicle’s lights, accesso‐
ries, or controls do not work, check the
appropriate circuit fuse. If a fuse has blown, the element inside the fuse will
melt.
If the electrical system does not work,
first check the driver’s side fuse panel.
Before replacing a blown fuse, discon‐ nect the negative battery cable.
Always replace a blown fuse with one
of the same rating.
If the replacement fuse blows, this indi‐
cates an electrical problem. Avoid using the system involved and immediately
consult a professional workshop. Kia
recommends to consult an authorized Kia dealer/service partner.
Three kinds of fuses are used: blade
type for lower amperage rating, car‐
tridge type, and multi fuse for higher amperage ratings.
WARNING
nFuse replacement
•Never replace a fuse with anythingbut another fuse of the same rat‐ing.
•A higher capacity fuse could causedamage and possibly a fire.
•Never install a wire or aluminumfoil instead of the proper fuseeven as a temporary repair. It maycause extensive wiring damageand a possible fire.
•Do not arbitrarily modify or add-on electric wiring of the vehicle.
CAUTION
Do not use a screwdriver or any oth‐er metal object to remove fuses be‐cause it may cause a short circuitand damage the system.
