*1: These lights turn on when the power switch is turned to ON mode to indicate that a
system check is being performe d. They will turn off after the hybrid system is on, or
after a few seconds. There may be a malfunction in a system if the lights do not turn on,
or turn off. Have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer.
*2: The light flashes to indicate a malfunction.
The indicators inform the driver of the operating state of the vehicle’s various sys-
tems.

The daytime running lights
turn on.
The side marker, parking,
tail, license plate, daytime
running lights and instru-
ment panel lights turn on.
The headlights and all the
lights listed above (except
daytime running lights) turn
on.
The headlights, side marker,
parking lights, daytime run-
ning lights and so on turn on
and off automatically (when
the power switch is in ON
mode).
With the headlights on, push the
lever away from you to turn on the
high beams.
Pull the lever toward you to the center
position to turn the high beams off.
Pull the lever toward you and release
it to flash the high beams once.
You can flash the high beams with the
headlights on or off.
■Daytime running light system
To make your vehicle more visible to other drivers, the parking lights turn on automati-
cally (at an increased intensit y) whenever the hybrid system is started and the parking
brake is released. Daytime running lights are not designed for use at night.
For the U.S.A.: Daytime running lights can be turned off by operating the headlight
switch to DRL OFF position.

XVehicles with halogen headlights
You may replace the following bulbs by yourself. The difficulty level of replace-
ment varies depending on the bulb. If necessary bulb replacement seems diffi-
cult to perform, contact your Lexus dealer.
For more information about replacing other light bulbs, contact your Lexus
dealer.

■Headlight high beams (halogen headlights)
For the right side only: Move the
washer fluid filler opening.
Unplug the connector while
pressing the lock release.
Turn the bulb base counterclock-
wise.
Set the new light bulb.
Align the 3 tabs on the light bulb with
the mounting, and insert. Turn it
clockwise to set.

Set the connector.
After installing the connector, shake
the bulb base gently to check that it is
not loose, turn the headlight high
beams on once and visually confirm
that no light is leaking through the
mounting.
For the right side only: Reinstall the washer fluid filler opening.
■Headlight high beams (LED headlights)Turn the cover counterclockwise
and remove it.
Turn the bulb base counterclock-
wise.
Unplug the connector while pull-
ing the lock release.

Replace the light bulb, and install
the bulb base.
Align the 3 tabs on the light bulb with
the mounting, and insert.
Turn and secure the bulb base.
Shake the bulb base gently to check
that it is not loose, turn the headlight
high beams on once and visually
confirm that no light is leaking
through the mounting.
When installing the cover, conduct step in reverse.
■Halogen fog light (if equipped)
Remove 2 screws, a bolt and clip,
and pull down the fender liner.
Pull the fender liner down slowly,
being careful not to dislodge any
fixed components.

Maintenance and care
Turn the bulb base counterclock-
wise.
Remove the light bulb.
■Replacing the following bulbs
If any of the lights listed below has burnt out, have it replaced by your Lexus
dealer.
●Headlight low beams (LED type)
●Parking lights and daytime running lights
●LED fog lights (if equipped)
●Front side marker lights
●Side turn signal lights
●Stop/tail lights
●Rear side marker lights
●High mounted stoplight
●License plate lights

■LED lights
The headlight low beams (LED type), parking lights, front side marker lights, daytime
running lights, LED fog lights (if equipped), side turn signal lights, rear side marker lights,
stop/tail lights, high mounted stoplight and license plate lights consist of a number of
LEDs. If any of the LEDs burn out, take your vehicle to your Lexus dealer to have the light
replaced.
■Condensation build-up on the inside of the lens
Temporary condensation build-up on the inside
of the headlight lens does not indicate a
malfunction. Contact your Lexus dealer for more information in the following situations:
●Large drops of water have built up on the inside of the lens.
●Water has built up inside the headlight.
■When replacing light bulbs

■Replacing light bulbs
●Be sure to stop the hybrid system and turn off the lights. Do not attempt to replace the
bulb immediately after turning off the lights.
The bulbs become very hot and may cause burns.
●Do not touch the glass portion of the light bulb with bare hands. When it is unavoid-
able to hold the glass portion, use and hold with a clean dry cloth to avoid getting
moisture and oils on the bulb.
Also, if the bulb is scratched or dropped, it may blow out or crack.
●Fully install light bulbs and any parts used to secure them. Failure to do so may result
in heat damage, fire, or water entering th e headlight unit. This may damage the head-
lights or cause condensation to build up on the lens.
●Do not attempt to repair or disassemble light bulbs, connectors, electric circuits or
component parts.
Doing so may result in death or se rious injury due to electric shock.
■To prevent damage or fire
●Make sure bulbs are fully seated and locked.
●Check the wattage of the bulb before installing to prevent heat damage.
