Theft Deterrent System
■Immobilizer system
The indicator light flashes after the
“POWER” switch has been turned off to
indicate that the system is operating.
The indicator light stops flashing after the
“POWER” switch has been turned to
ACCESSORY or ON mode to indicate
that the system has been canceled.
■ Alarm
The alarm uses light and sound to give an alert when an intrusion is detected.
To s e t t h e a l a r m :
Close the doors, trunk and hood, and lock all the doors. The system will be set automatically
after 30 seconds. The indicator light changes from being on to flashing when the system is set.
To deactivate or stop the alarm:
● Unlock the doors or open the trunk.
● Turn the “POWER” switch to ACCESSORY or ON mode, or start the hybrid system.
(The alarm will be deactivated or stopped after a few seconds.)

Head Restraints
■Front seats
Vertical adjustment
Up
Pull the head restraints up.
Down
Push the head restraint down while
pressing the lock release button.
Angle adjustment
The position of the head restraint can be
adjusted forward in 4 stages. If the head restraint is pulled forward
from the foremost position, it will return
to the rearmost position.

Driving Position Memory (if equipped)
■Entering a position to memory
Adjust the driver’s seat, steering wheel, and outside rear view mirrors to the desired
positions. (When memorizing the front pass enger’s seat, adjust the front passenger’s
seat to the desired positions.)
While pressing the “SET” button, or within 3
seconds after the “SET” button is pressed,
press button “1”, “2” or “3” until the signal
beeps.
If the selected button has already been pre-
set, the previously recorded position will be
overwritten.
■Recalling the memorized position
Press button “1”, “2” or “3” to recall the
desired position.
■Linking driving position memory with door unlock operation (driver’s side
only)
While pressing the button to recall the posi-
tion, press the driver’s door lock switch
(either lock or unlock) until the signal
beeps.
The driving position is recalled when the
driver’s door is unlocked using the entry
function or wireless remote control and the
driver’s door is opened.
Your preferred driving position (the position of the driver’s seat, steering wheel and out-
side rear view mirrors) can be memorized and recalled by pressing a button.
The same buttons are found on the front pass enger’s side, allowing the position of the
front passenger’s seat to be memorized (if equipped).

Outside Rear View Mirrors

■Folding the mirrors
Push the mirror back in the direction of the
vehicle’s rear.

■ When either “L” or “R” of the mirror select switch is selected, the outside rear view mir-
rors will automatically angle downwards when the vehicle is reversing in order to give a
better view of the ground. To disable th is function, select neither “L” nor “R”.
■ If the mirror angle adjustment switch is oper ated while the linked mirror function is in
operation, the angle and positi on of the mirrors can be remembered, and the mirrors will
operate at the angle adjusted to the last ti me the linked mirror function was operated.
However, because the mirrors move based on the angle they are in when the linked mir-
ror function is not operating, the mirror angl e when the linked mirror function is operat-
ing will also be changed if the mirrors are adjusted while the function is not operating.

Power (Ignition) Switch
■Starting the hybrid system
Check that the par king brake is set.
Check that the shift lever is set in P.
Firmly depress the brake pedal.

Press the “POWER” switch.
Continue depressing the brake pedal
until the hybrid system is completely
started.
The hybrid system can be started from
any “POWER” switch mode.
Check that the “READY” indicator is
on.
The vehicle will not move when the
“READY” indicator is off.
Performing the following operations when carrying the electronic key on your person
starts the hybrid system or changes “POWER” switch modes.

■Stopping the hybrid system
Stop the vehicle.
Shift the shift lever to P.
Set the parking brake.
Press the “POWER” switch.
Release the brake pedal and check that “P OWER ON” on the multi-information dis-
play is off.
■ Changing “POWER” switch modes
Modes can be changed by pressing the “POWER” switch with the brake pedal released.
(The mode changes each time the switch is pressed.)

■If your vehicle has to be stopped in an emergency
Only in an emergency, such as if it becomes im possible to stop the vehicle in the normal way,
stop the vehicle using the following procedure:
Steadily step on the brake pedal with both feet and firmly depress it.
Do not pump the brake pedal repeatedly as this will increase the effort required to slow
the vehicle.
Shift the shift lever to N.
If the shift lever is shifted to N
After slowing down, stop the vehicl e in a safe place by the road.
Stop the hybrid system.
If the shift lever cannot be shifted to N
Keep depressing the brake pedal with both feet to reduce vehicle speed as much as
possible. To stop the hybrid system, press and hold
the “POWER” switch for 2 consecutive
seconds or more, or press it briefly 3 times
or more in succession.
Stop the vehicle in a safe place by the road.

EV Drive Mode

information display. Pressing the switch
when in EV drive mode will return the
vehicle to normal driving (using the gas-
oline engine and electric motor [traction
motor]).
In EV drive mode the electric motor (traction motor), powered by the hybrid battery
(traction battery), is used to drive the vehicle.

Hybrid Transmission
■Shifting the shift lever
While the “POWER” switch is in ON mode, move the shift lever with the brake pedal
depressed.
When shifting the shift lever between P and D, make sure that the vehicle is com-
pletely stopped.
■ Shift position purpose
*1: To improve fuel efficiency and reduce noises, set the shift lever in D for normal driving.
*2: By selecting shift ranges using S mode, you can control engine braking forces.
