Air conditioning odors
During use, various odors from inside and outside the vehicle may enter
into and accumulate in the air conditioning system. This may then cause
odor to be emitted from the vents.
To reduce potential odors from occurring:
• It is recommended that the air conditioning system be set to outside air
mode prior to turning the vehicle off.
• The start timing of the blower may be delayed for a short period of time
immediately after the air conditioning system is started in automatic
mode.
nanoe *1 system (if equipped)
The air conditioning system adopts nanoe generator. This helps to provide
clean air and moisture by emitting electrically charged ions coated with
water particles through the front center vent on driver’s side
*2.
When the fan is turned on and is selected, the nanoe system is acti-
vated.
When the fan is operated in the following conditions, system performance
will be maximized. If the following conditions are not met, performance
will be limited.
• The , or air outlets are being used.
• The front center vent on driver’s side is open.
When nanoe is generated, a small amount of ozone is emitted and may be
faintly smelled in some situations. However, this is approximately the same
as the amount that already exists in nature, such as in forests, and it has no
affect on the human body.
A slight noise may be heard during operation. This is not a malfunction.

CAUTION
To prevent the windshield from fogging up
Do not use
during cool air operation in extremely humid weather.
The difference between the temperature of the outside air and that of the
windshield can cause the outer surface of the windshield to fog up, block-
ing your vision.
nanoe generator
Do not disassemble or repair the generator because it contains high voltage
parts. Contact any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or another duly
qualified and equipped professional if the generator needs repair.
NOTICE
To prevent 12-volt battery discharge
Do not leave the air conditioning system on longer than necessary when the
hybrid system is off.
Humidity sensor
Follow these points to avoid damaging the sensor:
Do not disassemble the sensor
Do not spray the glass cleaner on the sensor or subject it to strong impacts
Do not stick anything on the sensor
To prevent damage to the nanoe
Do not insert anything into the driver’s side vent, attach anything to it, or
use sprays around the driver’s side vent. These things may cause the gener-
ator not to work properly.

CAUTION
When washing the vehicle
Do not apply water to the inside of the engine compartment. Doing so may
cause the electrical components etc. to catch fire.
When cleaning the windshield (vehicles with rain-sensing windshield wip-
ers)
When the upper part of the windshield where the raindrop sensor is
located is touched by hand
When a wet rag or similar is held close to the raindrop sensor
If something bumps against the windshield
If you directly touch the raindrop sensor body or if something bumps into
the raindrop sensor
Precautions regarding the exhaust pipes
Exhaust gases cause the exhaust pipes to become quite hot.
When washing the vehicle, be careful not to touch the pipes until they have
cooled sufficiently, as touching hot exhaust pipes can cause burns.
Precaution regarding the rear bumper with Blind Spot Monitor (if equipped)
If the paint of the rear bumper is chipped or scratched, the system may mal-
function. If this occurs, consult any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or
another duly qualified and equipped professional.

prevent the wiper from operating. (P.

NOTICE
When cleaning the inside of the windshield (vehicles with LKA [Lane-
Keeping Assist])
Be careful not to touch the camera sensor (P. 338).
If the camera is accidentally scratched or hit, LKA may not operate prop-
erly or may cause a malfunction.
Cleaning the inside of the rear window
Do not use glass cleaner to clean the rear window, as this may cause dam-
age to the rear window defogger heater wires or antenna. Use a cloth
dampened with lukewarm water to gently wipe the window clean. Wipe
the window in strokes running parallel to the heater wires or antenna.
Be careful not to scratch or damage the heater wires or antenna.
