5427-2. Steps to take in an emergency
GS450h_300h_OM_OM30F92E_(EE)
If the vehicle becomes stuck
Stop the hybrid system. Set the parking brake and shift the shift lever to P. 
Remove the mud, snow or sand from around the rear wheels. 
Place wood, stones or some other materi al under the rear wheels to help pro-
vide traction.
Restart the hybrid system. 
Shift the shift lever to D or R and rele ase the parking brake. Then, while exer-
cising caution, depress the accelerator pedal.
■When it is difficult to free the vehicle
Carry out the following procedures if the tires spin or the vehicle becomes 
stuck in mud, dirt or snow:
Press   to turn off TRC. ( P. 326)
WARNING
■When attempting to free a stuck vehicle 
If you choose to push the vehicle back and forth to free it, make sure the surrounding 
area is clear to avoid striking other vehi cles, objects or people. The vehicle may also
lunge forward or lunge back suddenly as it becomes free. Use extreme caution.
■When shifting the shift lever 
Be careful not to shift the shift lever with the accelerator pedal depressed. 
This may lead to unexpected rapid acceleration of the vehicle that may cause an acci- 
dent resulting in death or serious injury.

The function to prevent the electronic ke y from being left inside the trunk will
operate and you can open the trunk as usual. Take the key out from the trunk. (  P. 148)
● Did you press the power switch while firmly depressing the brake pedal? ( P. 217)
● Is the shift lever in P? ( P. 219)
● Is the electronic key anywhere detectable inside the vehicle? ( P. 153)
● Is the steering wheel unlocked? ( P. 219)
● Is the electronic key battery weak or depleted?  
In this case, the hybrid system can be started in a temporary way. ( P. 528)
● Is the 12-volt battery discharged? ( P. 530)
● Is the power switch in ON mode?
If you cannot release the shift lever by depressing the brake pedal with the 
power switch in ON mode ( P. 229)
● It is locked automatically to prevent theft of the vehicle. ( P. 219)
The trunk lid is closed with the electronic key left inside
If you think som
ething is wrong
The hybrid system does not start 
The shift lever cannot be shifted fr om P even if you depress the brake
pedal 
The steering wheel cannot be turned  after the hybrid system is stopped

Is the window lock switch pressed? 
The power window except for the one at the driver’s seat cannot be operated 
if the window lock switch is pressed. ( P. 193)
● The auto power off function will be operated if the vehicle is left in ACCES-
SORY or ON mode (the hybrid system is  not operating) for a period of time.
(  P. 219)
● The seat belt reminder light is flashing
Are the driver and the front passenger wearing the seat belts? ( P. 462)
● The parking brake  indicator is on
Is the parking brake released? ( P. 232)
Depending on the situation, other type s of warning buzzer may also sound. 
(  P. 460, 466)
● Did anyone inside the vehicle open a door or anything move inside the vehicle
during setting the alarm?  
The sensor detects them and the alarm sounds. ( P. 91)
To stop the alarm, turn the power switch to ON mode or start the hybrid system. ● Is the electronic key left inside the  vehicle or the moon roof opened (if
equipped)? 
Check the message on the multi-information display. ( P. 466)
The windows do not open or close by operating the power window
