Safety information for children
●It is recommended that children sit in the rear seats to avoid accidental con-
tact with the shift lever, wiper switch etc.
●Use the rear door child-protector lock or the window lock switch to avoid
children opening the door while drivin g or operating the power window acci-
dentally. ( P. 143, 193)
●Do not let small children operate equipment which may catch or pinch body
parts, such as the power window, hood, trunk, seats etc.
Observe the following precautions when children are in the vehicle.
Use a child restraint system appropriate for the child, until the child becomes
large enough to properly wear the vehicle’s seat belt.
WARNING
Never leave children unattended in the vehicl e, and never allow children to have or use the key.
Children may be able to start the vehicle or sh ift the vehicle into neutral. There is also a danger that children may injure themselves by playing with the windows, the moon roof (if equipped) or other features of the vehicle. In addition, heat build-up or extremely
cold temperatures inside the vehicle can be fatal to children.

■Sounds and vibrations specific to a hybrid vehicle
There may be no engine sound or vibration ev en though the vehicle is able to move with the “READY” indicator is illuminated. For sa fety, apply the parking brake and make sure
to shift the shift lever to P when parked.
The following sounds or vibrations may occu r when the hybrid system is operating and are not a malfunction:
●Motor sounds may be heard from the engine compartment.
●Sounds may be heard from the hybrid battery (traction battery) behind the rear seats when the hybrid system starts or stops.
●Relay operating sounds such as a snap or so ft clank will be emitted from the hybrid bat- tery (traction battery), behind the rear se ats, when the hybrid system is started or stopped.
●Sounds from the hybrid system may be heard when the trunk lid is open.
●Sounds may be heard from the transmission when the gasoline engine starts or stops, when driving at low speeds, or during idling.
●Engine sounds may be heard when accelerating sharply.
●Sounds may be heard due to regenerative braking when the brake pedal is depressedor as the accelerator pedal is released.
●Vibration may be felt when the gasoline engine starts or stops.
●Cooling fan sounds may be heard from the air intake vents on the both sides of the rear seatback.
■Maintenance, repair, recycling, and disposal
Contact any authorized Lexus retailer or Lexus authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer regarding maintenance, repair, recy cling and disposal. Do not dispose of the
vehicle yourself.
■Customization
Settings (e.g. on/off operation of the EV indicator) can be changed. (Customizable features: P. 561)

■If a warning light comes on, a warning message is displayed, or the 12-volt battery is dis-
connected
The hybrid system may not start. In this case, try to start the system again. If the “READY” indicator does not come on, contact any authorized Lexus retailer or Lexus authorized
repairer, or any reliable repairer.
■Running out of fuel
When the vehicle has run out of fuel and the hybrid system cannot be started, refuel the
vehicle with at least enough gasoline to make the low fuel level warning light ( P. 462) go off. If there is only a small amount of fuel, the hybrid system may not be able to start.(The standard amount of fuel is about 9.9 L [2 .6 gal., 2.2 Imp.gal.], when the vehicle is on
a level surface. This value may vary when the vehicle is on a slope. Add extra fuel when the vehicle is inclined.)
■Electromagnetic waves
●High voltage parts and cables on hybrid ve hicles incorporate electromagnetic shield- ing, and therefore emit approximately the same amount of electromagnetic waves asconventional gasoline powered vehicles or home electronic appliances.
●Your vehicle may cause sound interference in some third party-produced radio parts.
■Hybrid battery (traction battery)
The hybrid battery (traction battery) has a lim ited service life. The lifespan of the hybrid
battery (traction battery) can change in accordance with driving style and driving condi- tions.
■Declaration of conformity
This model conforms to hydrogen emissions according to regulation ECE100 (Battery electric vehicle safety).
WARNING
■High voltage precautions
This vehicle has high voltage DC and AC systems as well as a 12-volt system. DC and
AC high voltage is very dangerous and can cause severe burns and electric shock that may result in death or serious injury.
●Never touch, disassemble, remove or replace the high voltage parts, cables or their
connectors.
●The hybrid system will become hot after starting as the system uses high voltage. Be careful of both the high voltage and the hi gh temperature, and always obey the warn-
ing labels attached to the vehicle.
●Never try to open the service plug access
hole located behind the rear seats. The ser- vice plug is used only when the vehicle is ser-viced and is subject to high voltage.

■Impact detection door lock release system
In the event that the vehicle is subject to a strong impact, all the doors are unlocked. Depending on the force of the impact or the type of accident, however, the system may
not operate.
■Using the mechanical key
The doors can also be locked and unlocked with the mechanical key. ( P. 527)

WARNING
■To prevent an accident
Observe the following precautions while driving the vehicle. Failure to do so may result in a door openin g and an occupant throwing out of the vehi- cle, resulting in death or serious injury.
●Ensure that all doors are properly closed.
●Do not pull the inside handle of the doors while driving. Be especially careful for the front doors, as the doors may be opened even if the
inside lock buttons are in locked position.

WARNING
■When adjusting the seat position
●Take care when adjusting the seat position to ensure that other passengers are not injured by the moving seat.
●Do not put your hands under the seat or near the moving parts to avoid injury.Fingers or hands may become jammed in the seat mechanism.
■Seat adjustment
To reduce the risk of sliding under the lap be lt during a collision, do not recline the seat more than necessary. If the seat is too reclined, th e lap belt may slide past the hips and apply restraint forces
directly to the abdomen, or your neck may contact the shoulder belt, increasing the risk of death or serious injury in the event of an accident.Adjustments should not be made while driving as the seat may unexpectedly move and
cause the driver to lose control of the vehicle.
