■Using cellular phones
Interference may be heard through the audio system’s speakers if a cellular phone is
being used inside or close to the vehicle while the audio system is operating.

• Do not take this unit apart or attempt to make any changes yourself.
This is an intricate unit that uses a lase r pickup to retrieve information from the
surface of compact discs. The laser is carefully shielded so that its rays remain
inside the cabinet. Therefore, never try to disassemble the player or alter any
of its parts since you may be exposed to laser rays and dangerous voltages.

Using the steering wheel audio switches
Turning on the power
Press when the audio system is turned OFF.
The audio system can be turned off by holding the switch down for 1 second
or more.
Changing the audio sourcePress when the audio system is turned ON. The audio source
changes as follows each time the button is pressed.

Adjusting the volume
Press + on to increase the volume and - to decrease the volume.
Hold down the button to continue increasing or decreasing the volume.
Some audio features can be controlled using the switches on the steering
wheel.

Selecting a radio stationPress to select the radio mode.
Press or on the switch to select a radio station.
To scan for receivable stations, press and hold the switch until you hear
a beep.
Selecting a track
Press to select the CD mode.
Press or on the switch to select the desired track.

Press to select the CD mode.
Press and hold or on switch until a beep is heard.

■Changing the settings
Each item is displayed and its setting can be changed only in the following condi-
tions:
Lexus parking assist-sensor: When the engine switch is in IG-ON mode.
Items other than the above: When the engine switch is in IG-ON mode and the
vehicle is stopped.
■Display
The display will return to the original disp lay if the satellite switches are not oper-
ated for an extended period.
Even if the display is in satellite switch mo de, it will switch in the event of a warning
or when the radar cruise control is used. If this occurs, press any of the satellite
switches or DISP switch on the steering wheel to return the display to satellite
switch mode.

If your vehicle needs to be towed
Before towingThe following may indicate a problem with your transmission. Contact
your Lexus dealer before towing.
● The engine is running, but the vehicle will not move.
● The vehicle makes an abnormal sound.
Emergency towing
If a tow truck is not available, in an emergency your vehicle may be tem-
porarily towed using a cable or chain secured to the emergency towing
eyelet(s). This should only attempted on hard, surfaced roads for short
distances at low speeds.
A driver must be in the vehicle to s teer and operate the brakes. The vehi-
cle’s wheels, drive train, axles, steering and brakes must be in good condi-
tion.
Towing eyelets
If towing is necessary, we recommend having your vehicle towed by your
Lexus dealer or a commercial towing se rvice, using a lift-type truck or a flat
bed truck.
Use a safety chain system for all towi ng, and abide by all state/provincial
and local laws.
If towing from the rear, the vehicle’s front wheels and axles must be in good
condition. ( P. 322)
If they are damaged, use a to wing dolly or flat bed truck.

■Emergency towing procedureRelease the parking brake.
Put the transmission in N.
Put the engine switch in the ACC mode (engine off) or the IG-ON mode
(engine running).
CAUTION
■Caution while towing
●Use extreme caution when towing the vehicle.
Avoid sudden starts or erratic driving maneuvers which place excessive stress on
the emergency towing eyelets and the cables or chains.
●If the engine is not running, the power assi st for the brakes and steering will not
function, making steering and braking more difficult.
NOTICE
■To prevent causing serious damage to the transmission
(for vehicles with an automatic transmission)
Never tow this vehicle from the front with the rear wheels on the ground.
This may cause serious dama ge to the transmission.
■When towing a vehicle without using a towing dolly
(for vehicles with a manual transmission)
The engine switch must not be OFF.

NOTICE
■To prevent damaging the vehicle
●Do not tow the vehicle with the engine switch OFF.
The steering lock mechanism is not st rong enough to hold the front wheel
straight.
●When raising the vehicle, ensure adequate ground clearance for towing at the
opposite end of the raised vehicle. Wi thout adequate clearance, the vehicle
could be damaged while being towed.

Event data recorder
In a crash or a near car crash eventThe EDR may record some or all of the following information.
● Engine speed
● Whether the brake pedal was applied or not
● Vehicle speed
● To what extent the accelerator pedal was depressed
● Position of the transmission shift lever
● Whether the driver and front passenger wore seat belts or not
● Driver's seat position
● SRS airbag deployment data
● SRS airbag system diagnostic data
If your vehicles is equipped with a vehicle stability control (VSC) system
Your Lexus’ Electronic Control U nit (ECU) may contain another EDR.
There are a variety of driving situati ons which include activating the VSC
under which the VSC EDR will reco rd certain information. The VSC
EDR may record some or all of the following information:
● Behavior of the vehicle
● Steering wheel angle
● Vehicle speed
Your vehicle has computers that monitor and control certain aspects of
your vehicle. These computers assist in driving and maintaining optimal
vehicle performance.
Besides storing data usef ul for troubleshooting, there is an event data
recorder (EDR) that records data in a crash or a near car crash event.
