Towing with a sling-type truck
CAUTION
■Installing towing eyelets to the vehicle
Make sure that towing eyelets are installed securely.
If not securely installed, towing eyelets may come loose during towing. This may
lead to accidents that cause serious injury or even death.
NOTICE
■To prevent body damage
Do not tow with a sling type truck, either from the front or rear.

Using a flat bed truckIf your Lexus is transported by a
flat bed truck, it should be tied
down at the locations shown in the
illustration.
If you use chains or cables to tie
down your vehicle, the angles
shaded in black must be 45°.
Do not overly tighten the tie downs
or the vehicle may be damaged.
NOTICE
■To prevent causing serious da mage to the transmission
(vehicles with an automatic transmission)
Never tow this vehicle from the front with the rear wheels on the ground.
■To prevent damaging the vehicle
●Do not tow the vehicle from the rear with the “ENGINE START STOP” switch
OFF.
The steering lock mechanism is not strong enough to hold the front wheel
straight.
●When raising the vehicle from the rear, ensure adequate ground clearance for
towing at the opposite end of the raised vehicle. Without adequate clearance, the
vehicle could be damaged while being towed from the rear.

Replacing a flat tireChock the tires.
Slightly loosen the wheel nuts (one
turn).
Turn the tire jack portion “A” by
hand until the notch of the jack is in
contact with the jack point.

■The compact spare tire
●The compact spare tire is identified by the label “TEMPORARY USE ONLY”
on the tire sidewall.
Use the compact spare tire temporarily only in an emergency.
●Make sure to check the tire pressure of the compact spare tire. (→P. 5 3 6 )
■When using the compact spare tire
As the compact spare tire is not equipped with the tire pressure warning valve and
transmitter, low inflation pressure of the spare tire will not be warned. Also, if you
replace the compact spare tire after the tire pressure warning light comes on, the
light remains on.
■If you have a flat rear tire on a road covered with snow or ice
Install the compact spare tire on the front of the vehicle. Perform the following steps
and fit tire chains to the rear tires.
Replace a front tire with the compact spare tire.
Replace the flat rear tire with the tire removed from the front of the vehi-
cle.
Fit tire chains to the rear tires.
■After completing the tire change
The tire pressure warning system must be reset. ( →P. 4 0 7 )

If the electronic key does not operate properly
Locking and unlocking the doors, unlocking the trunk and key linked functions
Doors
Remove the cover on the driver’s
door handle using the mechanical
key (→P. 25) in order to perform
the following operations.
Locks both side doors
Unlocks the door
Turning the key rearward unlocks
the driver's door. Turning the key
once again unlocks the passenger’s
door.
Return the cover to the original
position after use.
If communication between the electronic key and vehicle is interrupted
(→ P. 32) or the electronic key cann ot be used because the battery is
depleted, the smart access system with push-button start and wireless
remote control cannot be used. In such cases, the doors and trunk can be
opened or the engine can be started by following the procedure below.

the left and right sides of the trunk,
raise the front end of the trunk lid.
Holding the parts in the same
places as those shown in the illus-
trations, lift the trunk lid and move
it as far as possible toward the rear
of the vehicle.
Performing this procedure by hold-
ing parts other than those indi-
cated may result in damage to the
vehicle or serious injury.

Remove the 4 bolts and front plate.

places as those shown in the illus-
trations, carefully raise the rear
window panel until it comes into
contact with the roof panel.
Performing this procedure by hold-
ing parts other than those indi-
cated may result in damage to the
vehicle or serious injury.
If the rear window panel cannot be
raised, move it lightly up and down
2 or 3 times.
Be careful not to catch your hand
or fingers between the roof panel
and rear window panel.
Remove the rearward lock cover
located on the ceiling.
Insert the end of the hexagon
wrench and turn it clockwise as far
as possible to lock the rear window
panel and the roof panel.
Do not forcibly turn the wrench
beyond the stopping point.
