THEFT DETERRENT SYSTEM
To deter theft of the vehicle, this system is designed to
give an alarm and keep the engine from being started if
any of the doors, trunk and hood is forcibly unlocked or
the battery terminal is disconnected and then
reconnected while the vehicle is locked.
The alarm blows the horn intermittently and flashes the
headlights, tail lights and other exterior lights. The engine
cannot be started because the starter circuit will be disabled.
Setting the system
1. Turn the ignition key to the “LOCK” position and
remove it.
2. Driver and passengers get out of the vehicle.
3. Close and lock all the doors, trunk and hood.
The indicator light will come on when all the doors, truck and
hood are closed and locked. When the front doors are locked, the system will give you a
period of 30 seconds before it is set, during which the doors,
trunk and hood may be opened.
During this period, if either of the front doors is opened using
a key or wireless door lock remote control, the system will be
cancelled.
4. After making sure the indicator light starts flashing,
you may depart from the vehicle.
The system will automatically set itself after the 30-second
period. The indicator light will flash to show the system is set.
If any of the doors, trunk or hood is opened before the system
is set, setting is interrupted until it is closed and locked.
Never leave anyone in the vehicle when you set the system,
because unlocking a door from the inside will activate the
system.
When the system is set
SYSTEM ACTIVATION
The trunk opener circuit is disabled, so the trunk must be
opened by key.
The system will sound the alarm and disable the starter circuit
under the following conditions:
If any of the doors, trunk or hood is unlocked without using
the key.
If the battery terminal is disconnected and then
reconnected.

85 After one minute, the alarm will automatically stop, but the
starter circuit will remain disabled.
REACTIVATING THE ALARM
Once set, the system automatically resets the alarm each time
all the doors, trunk and hood are closed after the alarm stops.
The alarm will be activated again under the following
conditions:
If any of the doors, trunk or hood is opened.
If the battery terminal is disconnected and then
reconnected.
STOPPING THE ALARM
Turn the ignition key from the “LOCK” to “ACC” position.
The alarm will be stopped but the starter circuit will remain
disabled. Stopping the alarm in this manner will keep the alarm
from being reactivated when any of the doors, trunk or hood is
opened.
INTERRUPTING THE SYSTEM
With the system set, the trunk can be opened with the master
key without activating or cancelling the system. While it is
open, the doors and hood may be opened in addition, and the
system can be activated only by disconnecting the battery
terminal. To resume the setting, close and lock all the doors, trunk and
hood. The trunk must be closed with the key removed.
Cancelling the system
Open either of the front doors using an ignition key or wireless
door lock remote control.
This cancels the system completely and the starter circuit will
be reactivated at once.
INDICATOR LIGHT
The indicator light gives the following three indications when
the system is in use. When the light is:
FLASHING − The system is set. You need the key to open the
doors, trunk or hood.
ON − The system will automatically be set when the time
comes. The doors, trunk or hood may be opened without an
ignition key. The indicator light is also on when the alarm is
being sounded.
OFF − The system is inactive. You may open any door, trunk
or hood.
Testing the system
1. Open all the windows.
2. Set the system as described above.
Be sure to wait until the indicator light starts flashing.
3. Unlock one of the doors from the inside.
The system should activate the alarm.

lock remote control to cancel the system.
5. Repeat this operation for the other doors and hood.
When testing on the hood, also check that the system is
activated when the battery terminal is disconnected and then
reconnected.
If the system does not work properly, have it checked by your
Lexus dealer.

Disconnecting the battery may result in the erasure of
information you have set in the computer memory. After
reconnecting the battery, check that the memorized data
has been retained. If it has been erased, input it into the

THEFT PREVENTION LABELS
(U.S.A. ONLY)
Your new vehicle carries theft prevention labels which are
approximately 56 mm (2.20 inches) by 16 mm (0.63 inch).
The purpose of these labels is to reduce the incidence of
vehicle thefts by facilitating the tracing and recovery of parts
from stolen vehicles, The label is designed so that once it is
applied to a surface, any attempt to remove it will result in
destroying the integrity of the label. Transferring these labels
intact from one part to another will be impossible.
NOTICE:
You should not attempt to remove the theft prevention
labels as it may violate certain state or federal laws.
