To turn the wipers on, move the lever down until you
reach the desired speed setting.
The ignition key must be in the ºONº position.
There are 3 settings:
ºINTº position: Intermittent operation
ºLOº position: Low speed operation
ºHIº position: High speed operation
Twist the interval adjuster upward to increase the
wiping time interval between sweeps, and
downward to decrease it.
The wiper lever must be in the ºINTº position.
The time interval between sweeps is shortened when
the vehicle speed increases. When the vehicle speed
reaches more than about 20 km/h (12 mph) with the
interval adjuster in ºFº position, the time interval
becomes the shortest 1.5 seconds.
If you stop the vehicle with the wiper switch in the ºLOº
position, the wiper speed automatically changes from
low speed to intermittent operation speed.* This
function does not work when the interval adjuster is in
the ºFº position.
NOTE:
*This feature can be set inoperative. Ask your
Lexus dealer for details.
For mist wiper operation (a single wipe), pull the lever toward you and release it.
To make the washer squirt, push the button on the
end of the lever.
If the wiper lever is in the ºOFFº position, the wipers will
automatically operate a couple of times and a few
seconds later, make a single wipe again to sweep the
windshield completely.* The last sweep does not
happen if the vehicle speed exceeds about 170 km/h
(106 mph).
NOTE: *The last single wipe can be set inoperative.

The warning message ºLOW WASHER FLUIDº is
displayed in the multi information display when the fluid
level in the tank becomes nearly empty. For information
on adding washer fluid, see ºAdding washer fluidº on
page 464.

Remember that battery and ignition cablescarry high currents or voltages. Be careful ofaccidentally causing a short circuit.

Before closing the engine hood, check to seethat you have not forgotten any tools, rags, etc.

Do not drive with the air cleaner removed, or
excessive engine wear could result. Alsobackfiring could cause a fire in the enginecompartment.

Do not overfill automatic transmission fluid, orthe transmission could be damaged.

Be careful not to scratch the glass surface withthe wiper frame.
PARTS AND TOOLS
Here is a list of parts and tools you will need to perform
do±it±yourself maintenance. Remember all Lexus parts
are designed in metric sizes, so your tools must be
metric.
Checking the engine oil level
Parts (if level is low):

Use API grade SJ, ºEnergy±Conservingº multigrade
engine oil or ILSAC multigrade engine oil. For
recommended oil viscosity, see page 416.
Tools:

Rag or paper towel

Funnel (only for adding oil)
Checking the engine coolant level
Parts (if level is low):

ªToyota Long Life Coolantº or equivalent
