■Installing light bulbs
Fully install light bulbs and any parts used to s
ecure them. Failing to do so may result
in heat damage or fire, or water entering the headlight unit, and may damage the
headlights or cause condensation to build up on the lens.
■Condensation build up on the inside of the lens
Contact your Lexus dealer for more inform ation i
n the following situations. Tempo-
rary condensation build up on th
e inside of the headlight lens does not indicate a
malfunction.
• Large drops of water are built up on the inside of the lens.
• Water has built up inside the headlight.
■LED light bulbs
The tail and stop lights consist of a number of LEDs. if any LED burns out, we rec -
ommend you take your vehicle to your Lexus d
ealer to have the light inspected as
soon as possible.
■Discharge headlights
The headlights may turn off or may not turn on for a short time. If they turn on after a
short period of time, this do es not indicate a malfunction.
CAUTION
■Replacing light bulbs
●Turn off the headlight. Do not attempt to replace the bulb immediately after turn -
ing off the headlight.
The bulb becomes very hot and may cause burns.
●Do not touch the glass portion of the light bulb. Hold th e bulb by the plastic or
metal portion.
If the bulb is scratched or dropped it may blow out or crack.
●Do not attempt to repair or disassemble lig ht bulbs, connectors, electric circuits
or component parts.
Doing so may result in serious injury due to electric shock.

■Discharge headlights
●Do not touch the high voltage socket while the headlights are turned on.
The sockets are usually ch ar
ged with 20,000 volts. Touching the socket may
cause severe injury due to electric shock
NOTICE
■To prevent damage or fire
●Make sure the bulb is fully seated and locked to prevent damage or fire.
●If your hands touch the glass portion of the bulb, wipe the bulb with alcohol
before use.
●Always have your Lexus dealer change the
discharged head lights.
(Including light bulbs.)

If your vehicle needs to be towed
Never tow your vehicle with a sling
type truck.
We recommend having your vehicle
t
owed with a wheel lift type truck or
flat bed truck by your Lexus dealer
or a commercial tow truck service.
Use a safety chain system for all towing, and abide by the state/provincial and
loca
l laws.
If towing from the rear, the vehicle’s fr
ont wheels and axles on the ground
must be in good condition. ( P.322)
If they are damaged, use a to wing dolly
or flat bed truck.
■Before towing
In the following cases, there may be a problem with your transmission. Con -
tact your Lexus dealer before towing.
• The engine is running, but the vehicle will not move.
• The vehicle makes an abnormal sound.

Emergency towing
If a tow truck is not available in an emergency, your vehicle may be tem-
porarily towed by a cable or chain secur
ed to the emergency towing eye-
let(s). This should only attempted on har
d, surfaced roads for short
distance at low speeds.
A driver must be in the vehicle to steer and oper
ate the brakes. The vehi-
cle's wheels, drive train, axles, steer ing and br
akes must be in good con-
dition.

■Emergency towing proceduresRelease the parking brake.
Put the transmission in “N”.
The ignition switch must be in ACC (eng
ine off) or ON (engine running).
CAUTION
■Caution while towing
●Use extreme caution when towing the vehi cle. Avoid sudden starts or erratic
driving maneuvers which place excessive stress on the emergency towing eyelets
and the cable or chain.
●If the engine is not running, the power assi st for the brakes and steering will not
function, making steering and braking more difficult.

Towing with a wheel lift-type truck
Use a towing dolly under the rear
wheels.
Place the key in the “ACC” posi-
tion so that the steering wheel is

■To prevent body damage
Do not tow with a sling type truck, either from the front or rear.

■To prevent causing serious damage to the transmission
Never tow this vehicle from the front with the rear wheels on the ground.

Transporting your Lexus on a flat bed truck
If your Lexus is transported by a
flat bed, it should be tied down at
locations A and B as shown.
If you use chains or cables to tie

shaded black must be at 45 .
Do not use excessive tension on

wns or vehicle damage
may occur.
NOTICE
■To prevent damaging the vehicle
●Do not tow with the key removed or in the LOCK position. The steering lock
mechanism is not strong enough to hold the front wheels straight.
●When raising the vehicle, ensure adequate ground clearance for towing at the
opposite end of the raised vehicle. Wi thout adequate clearance, the vehicle
could be damaged while being towed.
■To prevent causing serious damage to the transmission
Never tow a vehicle from the rear with four wheels on the ground.
This may cause serious dama g
e to the transmission.

If you think something is wrong
If you notice any of the following symptoms, your vehicle probably needs
adjustment or repair. Contact your Lexus dealer as soon as possible.
■Visible symptoms
Look for any of the following symptoms.
• Fluid leaks under the vehicle
Water dripping from the air conditioning after use is normal
• Flat-looking tires or uneven tire wear
• Engine coolant temperature gauge needle continually points higher
than normal
■ A
udible symptoms
Listen for any of the following symptoms.
• Change in exhaust sound
• Excessive tire squeal when cornering
• Strange noises related to suspension system
• Pinging or other noises related to engine
■ P
roblems with operation
Check for any of the following symptoms.
• Engine missing, stumbling or running rough
• Appreciable loss of power
• Vehicle pulls to heavily one side when braking
• Vehicle pulls to heavily one sid e when driving on a le
vel road
• Loss of brake effectiveness, sp ongy feeling, pedal almost touches
floor
