●The glove box light turns on when the engine switch is in ACCESSORY or IGNITION
ON mode.
●The trunk opener main switch is located in the glove box. ( P. 144)
Push the knob.
Lift by hand to fully open the console
box.

Long objects can be loaded in the vehicle by utilizing the trunk space and rear
seat area. Pull down the armrest.
Separate the fastener and turn back
the trunk door cover.
Open the inside trunk door from the
trunk and load ba ggage or other
items.

■When not in use
Ensure that the inside trunk door is closed.
In the event of sudden braking, items stored in the trunk may be thrown forward into
the cabin, resulting in injury.

Fluid leaks• There should not be any signs of fluid leakage after
the vehicle has been parked.

• The tires should not be damaged or excessively worn.
• Have the tires been rotated according to the mainte- nance schedule?
• The wheel nuts should not be loose.
Windshield wipers
• The wiper blades should no t show any signs of crack-
ing, splitting, wear, contamination or deformation.
• The wiper blades should clear the windshield without
streaking or skipping.

■If the engine is running
Turn the engine off and ensure that there is adequate ventilation before performing
maintenance checks.

■Rear turn signal lights Open the trunk, remove the 2
covers and 2 screws and pull the
light unit toward the rear of the
vehicle to remove it.
When removing the cover, wrap the
tip of the screwdriver with tape to
protect the vehicle from damage.
Turn the bulb base counterclock-
wise.
Remove the light bulb.
Install a new light bulb then install
the bulb base to the light unit by
inserting it and turning the bulb
base clockwise.
After installing the light bulb, turn on
the rear turn signal light to visually
check that there is no light leaking
from the bulb base.

■Back-up lights Open the trunk, remove the 2
clips on the side which the bulb is
to be replaced and pull back the
trunk lid cover.
Turn the bulb base counterclock-
wise.
Remove the light bulb.
Install a new light bulb then install
the bulb base to the light unit by
inserting it and turning the bulb
base clockwise.
After installing the light bulb, turn on
the back-up light to visually check
that there is no li ght leaking from the
bulb base.
Reinstall the trunk lid cover with the 2 clips.
To install the clips, simply push them in.

Insert the towing eyelet into the hole
and tighten partially by hand.
Tighten down the towing eyelet
securely using a wheel nut wrench
or hard metal bar.
Securely attach cables or chains to the towing eyelet.
Take care not to damage the vehicle body.
Enter the vehicle being towed and start the engine.
If the engine does not start, turn the engine switch to IGNITION ON mode.
Shift the shift lever to N and release the parking brake.
When the shift lever cannot be shifted: P. 5 9 9
■While towing
If the engine is not running, the power assist for the brakes and steering will not function,
making steering and br aking more difficult.
■Wheel nut wrench
Wheel nut wrench is installed in trunk. ( P. 571, 585)

Electric power steering system warning light (warning buzzer)Indicates a malfunction in the EP S (Electric Power Steering) sys-
tem
 Have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer immediately.

(If equipped)
Pre-collision system warning light Indicates a malfunction in the PCS (Pre-Collision System)
The warning light will operate as follows, even when the system is
not malfunctioning:
• The light will flash quickly when the system is operating.
( P. 2 9 5 )
• The light will turn on when the pre-collision system is disabled.
(  P. 2 9 6 )
• The light will turn on when th e VSC (Vehicle Stability Control)
system is disabled. ( P. 2 9 0 )
• The light will flash when the system cannot temporarily be used.
( P. 5 6 3 )
 Have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer immediately.
Slip indicator
Indicates a malfunction in:
• The VSC (Vehicle Stability Control) system;
• The TRAC (Traction Control) system; or
• The hill-start assist control system
The light will flash when the VSC or the TRAC system is operating.
 Have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer immediately.
Automatic headlight leveling system warning light
Indicates a malfunction in the au tomatic headlight leveling system
 Have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer immediately.
Open door warning light (warning buzzer)*2
Indicates that a door or the trunk is not fully closed
 Check that both side doors and the trunk are closed.
Low fuel level warning light
Indicates that remaining fuel is approximately 2.6 gal. (10 L, 2.2
Imp. gal.) or less
 Refuel the vehicle.
Seat belt reminder light (warning buzzer)*3
Warns the driver and/or front passenger to fasten their seat belts
 Fasten the seat belt.
If the front passenger’s seat is occupied, the front passenger’s
seat belt also needs to be fa stened to make the warning light
(warning buzzer) turn off.
Master warning light A buzzer sounds and the warning light comes on and flashes to
indicate that the master warning system has detected a malfunc-
tion.

When trouble arises

Alerts the driver that the vehicle has deviated from the
lane (while the LDA [Lane Departure Alert] system is
operating)The lane line on the side the vehicle has deviated from
flashes in yellow.
The warning buzzer sounds continuously.
 Check around the vehicle and back to inside of the
lane lines.
Indicates that:
• The brake fluid level is low; or
• The brake system is malfunctioning
A buzzer also sounds.
 Immediately stop the vehicle in a safe place and
contact your Lexus dealer. Continuing to drive the
vehicle may be dangerous.
Indicates that one or more of the doors is not fully closed
The system also indicates which doors are not fully
closed.
If the vehicle reaches a speed of 3 mph (5 km/h),
flashes and a buzzer sounds to indicate
that the door(s) are not yet fully closed.
 Make sure that both side doors are closed.
Indicates that the hood is not fully closed
If the vehicle reaches a speed of 3 mph (5 km/h),
flashes and a buzzer sounds to indicate
that the hood is not yet fully closed.
 Close the hood.
Indicates that the trunk is not fully closed
If the vehicle reaches a speed of 3 mph (5 km/h),
flashes and a buzzer sounds to indicate
that the trunk is not yet fully closed.
 Close the trunk.

Remove the luggage mat.
Take out the jack.For tightening
For loosening
If the jack is too tightly installed to be
removed by hand, insert a tool, such
as the screwdriver included with the
vehicle, into the hole of the jack (por-
tion “A”) and loosen the jack.
NOTICE
When closing the trunk door, do not leave the luggage mat lever hooked on the edge
of the trunk. The luggage mat may get damaged.
