■When the vehicle is not driven for extended periods
●To prevent theft of the vehicle, do not leave the electronic key within 2 m (6 ft.) of the vehicle.
●The smart entry & start system can be deactivated in advance. ( P. 685)
■To operate the system properly
●Make sure to carry the electronic key when operating the system. Do not get the elec-
tronic key too close to the vehicle when operating the system from the outside of the vehicle.
Depending on the position and holding condit ion of the electronic key, the key may not
be detected correctly and the system may not operate properly. (The alarm may go off accidentally, or the door lock prev ention function may not operate.)
●Do not leave the electronic key inside the trunk.
The key confinement prevention function ma y not operate, depending on the location of the key (close to a spare tire [if equipped], the inside edge of the Trunk), conditions(inside a metal bag, close to metallic obje cts) and the radio waves in the surrounding
area. ( P. 172)
■If the smart entry & start system does not operate properly
●Locking and unlocking the doors and opening the trunk: P. 650
●Starting the engine: P. 652
■Customization
Settings (e. g. smart entry & start system) can be changed.
(Customizable features: P. 685)
■If the smart entry & start system has been deactivated in a customized setting
●Locking and unlocking the doors and opening the trunk:
Use the wireless remote control or mechanical key. ( P. 164, 170, 650)

3184-5. Using the driving support systems
RC200t_RC F_EE(OM24728E)
●When sunlight or the headlights of oncoming vehicles are shining directly into the cam- era lens
●When driving on roads that are branching or merging
●When driving on a road surface that is wet du e to rain, previous rainfall, standing water, etc.
●When the vehicle experiences strong up-and-down motion such as when driving on an
extremely rough road or on a seam in the pavement
●When headlight brightness at nighttime is reduced due to dirt on the lenses, or when the headlights are misaligned
●When driving on winding roads or roads that are uneven
●When driving on rough or unpaved roads
■When changing the tires
Depending on the tires used, sufficient performance may not be maintainable.
■Warning messages for the LDA system
Warning messages are used to indicate a syst em malfunction or to inform the driver of
the need for caution while driving. ( P. 604)
WARNING
■Before using the LDA system
Do not rely solely on the LDA system. The LDA system does not drive the vehicle auto- matically, nor does it reduce the amount of care you need to take. As such, the driver
must always assume full responsibility fo r understanding his/her surroundings, for operating the steering wheel to correct the driving line, and for driving safely.
Inappropriate or negligent driving could lead to an accident.
■To avoid operating the LDA by mistake
Switch the LDA system off using the LDA switch when not in use.
■Situations unsuitable for LDA system
Do not use the LDA system in any of the following situations.
Otherwise, the system may not function correctly and could result in an accident.
●When driving with tire chains, a spare tire, or similar equipment
●When there are objects or structures along the roadside that might be misinterpreted as lane markers (such as guardrails, a curb, reflector posts, etc.)
●When driving on snowy roads
●When pavement lane markers are difficult to see due to rain, snow, fog, sand, dirt, etc.
●When there are visible lines on the pavement from road repairs, or if the remains of old lane markers are still visible on the road
●When driving on a road with lane closures due to maintenance, or when driving in a temporary lane

WARNING
■When inspecting or replacing tires
Observe the following precautions to prevent accidents. Failure to do so may cause damage to parts of the drivetrain as well as dangerous han-
dling characteristics, which may lead to an acc ident resulting in death or serious injury.
●Do not mix tires of different makes, models or tread patterns. Also, do not mix tires of remarkably different treadwear.
●Do not use tire sizes other th an those recommended by Lexus.
●Do not mix differently constructed tires (radial, bias-belted or bias-ply tires).
●Do not mix summer, all season and snow tires.
●Do not use tires that have been used on another vehicle. Do not use tires if you do not know how they were used previously.
●Vehicles with a compact spare tire: Do not tow if your vehicle has a compact spare
tire installed.
●Vehicles with an emergency tire puncture repa ir kit: Do not tow anything if a tire that has been repaired using the emergency tire puncture repair kit is installed. The load
on the tire may cause unexpected damage to the tire.
■When initializing the tire pressure warning system
Do not operate the tire pressure warning re set switch without first adjusting the tire
inflation pressure to the specified level. Ot herwise, the tire pressure warning light may not come on even if the tire inflation pressu re is low, or it may come on when the tire inflation pressure is actually normal.
■Caution regarding interference with electronic devices (vehicles with the tire pres-sure warning system featuring a tire inflation pressure display function)
●Users of any electrical medical device other than implantable cardiac pacemakers, cardiac resynchronization therapy-pacemakers or implantable cardioverterdefibrillators should consult the manufacturer of the device for information about its
operation under the influence of radio waves. Radio waves could have unexpected effects on the operation of such medicaldevices.
●People with implantable cardiac pacemakers, cardiac resynchronization therapy-pacemak-ers or implantable cardioverter defibrillators
should not come within 450 mm (17.7 in.) of the tire pressure warning system initiators. The radio waves may affect the operation of
such devices.

*2: Seat belt warning buzzer:
The seat belt warning buzzer sounds to al ert the driver, front passenger and rear pas- sengers that his or her seat belt is not fastened. The buzzer sounds for 30 seconds after the vehicle reaches a speed of 20 km/h (12 mph). Then, if the seat belt is still
unfastened, the buzzer will sound in a different tone for 90 more seconds.
■Front passenger detection sensor, seat belt reminder and warning buzzer
●If luggage is placed on a front passenger seat, the front passenger detection sensor may cause the warning light to flash and the warning buzzer to sound even if a passen-ger is not sitting in the seat.
●If a cushion is placed on the seat, the sensor may not detect a passenger, and the warn-ing light may not operate properly.
■If the malfunction indicator lamp comes on while driving
The malfunction indicator lamp will come on if the fuel tank becomes completely empty. If the fuel tank is empty, refuel the vehicle immediately. The malfunction indicator lampwill go off after several trips.
If the malfunction indicator lamp does not go off, contact any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and eq uipped professional as soon as possible.
■Electric power steering system warning light (warning buzzer)
When the battery charge becomes insufficien t or the voltage temporarily drops, the electric power steering system warning lig ht may come on and the warning buzzer may sound.
■When the tire pressure warning light comes on
Carry out the following procedure after the tire temperature has lowered sufficiently.
●Check the tire inflation pressure and adjust to the appropriate level.
●If the warning light does not go out even afte r several minutes, check that the tire infla- tion pressure is at the specifie d level and carry out initialization.
The warning light may come on again if the above operations are conducted without first
allowing the tire temperature to lower sufficiently.
■The tire pressure warning light may come on due to natural causes
The tire pressure warning light may come on due to natural causes such as natural air
leaks and tire inflation pressure changes caused by temperature. In this case, adjusting the tire inflation pressure will turn off the warning light (after a few minutes).
■When a tire is replaced with the spare tire (if equipped)
The spare tire is not equipped with a tire pre ssure warning valve and transmitter. If a tire goes flat, the tire pressure warning light will no t turn off even though the flat tire has been replaced with the spare tire.

If the tire pressure warning light frequently comes on after blinking for 1 minute when the engine switch is turned to IGNITION ON mode, have it checked by any authorized
Lexus dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped professional.
■Warning buzzer
In some cases, the buzzer may not be heard due to being in a noisy location or audio
sound.
WARNING
■If both the ABS and the brake system warning lights remain on
Stop your vehicle in a safe place immediately and contact any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped professional. The vehicle will
become extremely unstable during braking, and the ABS system may fail, which could cause an accident resulting in death or serious injury.
■When the electric power steering system warning light comes on
The steering wheel may become extremely heavy. If the steering wheel becomes heavier than us ual when operating, hold firmly and oper- ate using more force than usual.
■If the tire pressure warning light comes on
Be sure to observe the following precautions. Failure to do so could cause a loss of vehicle control and result in death or serious injury.
Vehicles with a spare tire
●Stop your vehicle in a safe place as soon as possible. Adjust the tire inflation pressureimmediately.
●If the tire pressure warning light comes on even after tire inflation pressure adjust- ment, it is probable that you have a flat tire. Check the tires. If a tire is flat, change itwith the spare tire and have the flat tire repaired by the nearest authorized Lexus
dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped professional.
●Avoid abrupt maneuvering and braking. If th e vehicle tires deteriorate, you could lose control of the steering wheel or the brakes.
Vehicles with an emergency tire puncture repair kit
●Stop your vehicle in a safe place as soon as possible. Adjust the tire inflation pressureimmediately.
●If the tire pressure warning light comes on even after tire inflation pressure adjust- ment, it is probable that you have a flat tire. Check the tires. If a tire is flat, repair theflat tire by using emergency tire puncture repair kit.
