■When starting off on an uphill
The hill-start assist co ntrol will activate. (P. 349)
■Driving in the rain
●Drive carefully when it is raining, because visibility will be reduced, the windows may
become fogged-up, and the road will be slippery.
●Drive carefully when it starts to rain, because the road surface will be especially slip- pery.
●Refrain from high speeds when driving on an expressway in the rain, because there maybe a layer of water between the tires and the road surface, preventing the steering andbrakes from operating properly.
■Engine speed while driving
In the following conditions, the engine speed may become high while driving. This is due to automatic up-shifting control or down-shi fting implementation to meet driving condi-
tions. It does not indicate sudden acceleration.
●The vehicle is judged to be driving uphill or downhill
●When the accelerator pedal is released
●When the brake pedal is depressed while sport mode is selected
■Restraining the engine output (brake override system)
●When the accelerator and brake pedals are depressed at the same time, the engine
output may be restrained.
●A warning message is displayed on the mult i-information display while the system is operating. ( P. 608)
■Breaking in your new Lexus
To extend the life of the vehicle, observing the following precautions is recommended:
●For the first 300 km (186 miles):
Avoid sudden stops.
●For the first 1000 km (621 miles):
• Do not drive at extremely high speeds.
• Avoid sudden acceleration. • Do not drive continuously in low gears.• Do not drive at a constant speed for extended periods.
■Drum-in-disc type parking brake system
Your vehicle has a drum-in-disc type parkin g brake system. This type of brake system needs bedding-down of the brake shoes periodically or whenever the parking brake
shoes and/or drum are replaced. Have any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped professional, perform the bedding down operation.
■Operating your vehicle in a foreign country
Comply with the relevant vehicle registration laws and confirm the availability of the cor- rect fuel. ( P. 671)
■Brake pads and discs (RC F)
The brake pads and discs are designed for use under high load conditions. Therefore, brake noise may be generated depending on the vehicle speed, braking force and vehi-
cle environment (temperature, humidity, etc.).

•Engine oil
• Engine coolant
• Washer fluid
●Have a service technician inspect the condition of the battery.
●Have the vehicle fitted with four snow tires or purchase a set of tire chains for
the rear tires.*
Ensure that all tires are the specified size and brand, and that chains match the size of the tires.
*: Tire chains cannot be mounted on vehicles with front and rear tires of differing
sizes.
●Use fluids that are appropriate to the prevailing outside temperatures.

Before installing tire chains, change all four tires and wheels to those of the
specified size for use with tire chains (front tires: 235/40ZR19, rear tires:
235/40ZR19, wheels: 19 x 8 1/2 J 45 inset). Use the specified type of tire
chains and install them on the rear tires only.
For details, contact any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or another duly
qualified and equipped professional.
Winter driving tips
Carry out the necessary preparations and inspections before driving the vehi-
cle in winter. Always drive the vehicle in a manner appropriate to the prevail-
ing weather conditions.

Vehicles with front and rear tires of the same size
Use the correct tire chain size when mounting the tire chains.
Chain size is regulated for each tire size.
Side chain
(3 mm [0.12 in.] in diameter)
Cross chain
(4 mm [0.16 in.] in diameter)
Vehicles with front and rear tires of differing sizes
Tire chains cannot be mounted.
Snow tires should be used instead.
Tire chains can be mounted on 235/40ZR 19 rear tires. They cannot be mounted
on 275/35ZR19 rear tires. Use the correct tire chain size when mounting the
tire chains.
Chain size is regulated for each tire size.
Side chain

Regulations regarding the use of tire chai ns vary depending on location and type
of road. Always check local regulations before installing chains.

Maintenance and care

When replacing wheels, care should be taken to ensure that they are equivalent
to those removed in load capacity, diameter, rim width and inset*.
Replacement wheels are available at any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or
another duly qualified and equipped professional.
*: Conventionally referred to as “offset”.
Lexus does not recommend using the following:
●Wheels of different sizes or types
●Used wheels
●Bent wheels that have been straightened
●Use only Lexus wheel nuts and wrenches designed for use with your alumi-
num wheels.
●When rotating, repairing or changing your tires, check that the wheel nuts are
still tight after driving 1600 km (1000 miles).
●Be careful not to damage the aluminum wheels when using tire chains.
●Use only Lexus genuine balance weights or equivalent and a plastic or rubber
hammer when balancing your wheels.
■When replacing wheels
The wheels of your vehicle are equipped with tire pressure warning valves and transmit- ters that allow the tire pressure warning sy stem to provide advance warning in the event
of a loss in tire inflation pressure. Whenever wheels are replaced, tire pressure warning valves and transmitters must be installed. (P. 537)
Wheels
If a wheel is bent, cracked or heavily corroded, it should be replaced. Other-
wise, the tire may separate from the wheel or cause a loss of handling control.

Taking precautions to avoid sudden braking, sudden acceleration and sharp
turns, drive carefully at under 80 km/h (50 mph) to any authorized Lexus
dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped professional that is
less than 100 km (62 miles) away for tire repair or replacement.
■Emergency tire puncture repair kit
●The sealant has a limited lifespan. The expiry date is marked on the bottle. The sealant should be replaced before the expiry da te. Contact any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified an d equipped professional for replacement.
●The sealant stored in the emergency tire puncture repair kit can be used only once to temporarily repair a single tire. If the seal ant has been used and needs to be purchased, contact any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and
equipped professional. The compressor is reusable.
●The sealant can be used when the outside temperature is from -40 C (-40F) to 60C (140 F).
●The kit is exclusively designed for size and type of tires originally installed on your vehi- cle. Do not use it for tires that a different size than the original ones, or for any otherpurposes.
●If the sealant gets on your clothes, it may stain.
●If the sealant adheres to a wheel or the surface of the vehicle body, the stain may not beremovable if it is not cleaned at once. Immediately wipe away the sealant with a wet
cloth.
●During operation of the kit, a loud operatio n noise is produced. This does not indicate a malfunction.
●Do not use the emergency tire puncture repair kit to check or to adjust the tire pres- sure.
