To drive using temporary shift range selection, operate the “-” paddle shift switch.
Changing the shift range enables the level of engine braking force to be
selected. The shift range can then be selected by operating the “-” and “+” paddle
shift switches.
Upshifting
Downshifting
The selected shift range, from D1 to D6, will be displayed in the meter.
The initial shift rang e when the “-” pad- dle shift switch is operated is automati-cally set to D2, D3, D4 or D5 according
to the vehicle speed.
To return to normal D position driving, the “+” paddle shift switch must be held
down for a period of time.
■Shift ranges and their functions
●You can choose from 6 levels of engine braking force.
●A lower shift range will provide greater engine braking force than a higher
shift range, and the engine revolutions will also increase.

To enter S mode, shift the shift lever to S. Shift ranges can be selected by operat-
ing the shift lever or paddle shift switches, allowing you to drive in the shift range
of your choice. The shift range can be sele cted by operating the shift lever or the
“-” and “+” paddle shift switches.

The selected shift range, from S1 to S6, will be displayed in the meter.
The initial shift range in S mode is auto- matically set to S2, S3, S4 or S5according to the vehicle speed.
■Shift ranges and their functions
●You can choose from 6 levels of accelerating force and engine braking
force.
●A lower shift range will provide greater accelerating force and engine
braking force than a higher shift range, and the engine revolutions will also
increase.
●If you accelerate while in ranges 1 to 4, the shift range may automatically
increase in accordance with the vehicle speed.

■Cruise control can be set when
●The shift lever is in D or range 4 or higher of S has been selected.
●Range 4 or higher of D has been selected by using the paddle shift.
●Vehicle speed is above approximately 40 km/h (25 mph).
■Accelerating after setting the vehicle speed
●The vehicle can be accelerated by operating accelerator pedal. After accelerating, the set speed resumes.
●Even without canceling the cruise control, the set speed can be increased by first accel-erating the vehicle to the desired speed and then pushing the lever down to set the newspeed.
■Automatic cruise control cancelation
Cruise control is automatically canceled in any of the following situations.
●Actual vehicle speed falls more than approximately 16 km/h (10 mph) below the set
speed.
●Actual vehicle speed is below approximately 40 km/h (25 mph).
●VSC is activated.
●TRC is activated for a period of time.
●When the VSC or TRC system is turned off by pressing the VSC OFF switch.
■If the warning message for the cruise contro l is shown on the multi-information display
Press the “ON/OFF” button once to deactivate the system, and then press the button again to reactivate the system.If the cruise control speed cannot be set or if the cruise control cancels immediately after
being activated, there may be a malfunction in the cruise control system. Have the vehi- cle inspected by any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified andequipped professional.

Without accelerator pedal operation by the driver, in vehicle-to-vehicle distance
control mode, the vehicle automatically accelerates and decelerates in accor-
dance to the changes in speed of the preceding vehicle. In constant speed con-
trol mode, the vehicle runs at a fixed speed.
Use the dynamic radar cruise control on freeways and highways.

Press the “ON/OFF” button to acti-
vate the cruise control.
Radar cruise control indicator will come
on and a message will be displayed on the multi-information display.
Press the button again to deactivate the
cruise control.
Accelerate or decelerate, with
accelerator pedal operation, to the
desired vehicle speed (above
approximately 50 km/h [30 mph])
and push the lever down to set the
speed.
Cruise control “SET” indicator and set
speed will be displayed.
The vehicle speed at the moment the lever is released be comes the set speed.

Pressing the button changes the vehi-
cle-to-vehicle distance as follows:
Long
Medium
Short
The vehicle-to-vehicle distance is set automatically to long mode when thepower switch is turned to ON mode.
If a vehicle is running ahead of you, the preceding vehicle mark will also be displayed.
Select a distance from the table below. Note that the distances shown corre-
spond to a vehicle speed of 80 km/h (50 mph). Vehicle-to-vehicle distance
increases/decreases in accordance with vehicle speed.

Pulling the lever toward you cancels
the speed control.
The speed setting is also canceled when
the brake pedal is depressed.
Pushing the lever up resumes the
speed control and returns vehicle
speed to the set speed.
Resuming is available when the vehicle speed is more than approximately 40km/h (25 mph).
When your vehicle is too close to a
vehicle ahead, and sufficient automatic
deceleration via the cruise control is
not possible, the display will flash and
the buzzer will sound to alert the driver.
An example of this would be if another
driver cuts in front of you while you are
following a vehicle. Depress the brake
pedal to ensure an appropriate vehicle-
to-vehicle distance.
■Warnings may not occur when
In the following instances, there is a possibility that the warnings will not occur:
●When the speed of the preceding vehicle matches or exceeds your vehicle
speed
●When the preceding vehicle is traveling at an extremely slow speed
●Immediately after the cruise control speed was set
●When depressing the accelerator pedal

■Radar sensor and grille cover
Always keep the sensor and grille cover clean to ensure that the vehicle-to-vehicle dis- tance control mode operates properly. (Some ob structions, such as snow, ice and plastic
objects, cannot be detected by the obstruction sensor.) Dynamic radar cruise control is canceled if an obstruction is detected.
■Operation guide display
When the dynamic radar cruise control switch is operated, a guidance display is shown
on the meters for a few seconds as to how to operate the dynamic radar cruise control switch or distance switch. ( P. 126)
■Warning messages and buzzers for dynamic radar cruise control
Warning messages and buzzers are used to indicate a system malfunction or to inform the driver of the need for caution while driving. ( P. 548)

While driving on a road that has lane markers, this system recognizes the lane
markers using a camera as a sensor to alert the driver when the vehicle deviates
from its lane.
If the system judges that the vehicle has de viated from its lane, it alerts the driver
using a buzzer and indications on the multi-information display.

When the inside of both lane lines turn
white:
Indicates that both right and left lane
markers are recognized.
If the vehicle deviates from the lane, the
lane line on the side the vehicle has devi- ated from will flash in yellow. ( P. 543)
When the inside of either lane line turns
white:
Indicates that the lane marker on the
white-marked side is recognized.
If the vehicle deviates from the side of a
lane with recognized lane markers, the lane line will flash in yellow. ( P. 543)
When the inside of both lane lines are
black:
Indicates that no lane markers are rec-
ognized or the LDA system is tempo-
rarily canceled.
