When trouble arises
If a warning light turns on or a warning buzzer
sounds Calmly perform the following actions if any of the warning lights comes on or
flashes. If a light comes on or flashes, but then goes off, this does not necessar-
ily indicate a malfunction in the system . However, if this continues to occur,
have the vehicle inspecte d by your Lexus dealer.

Brake system warning light
Indicates that:
• The brake fluid level is low; or
• The brake system is malfunctioning
 Immediately stop the vehicle in a safe place and contact your
Lexus dealer. Continuing to drive the vehicle may be dangerous. (If equipped)
Charging system warning light
Indicates a malfunction in the vehicle’s charging system
 Immediately stop the vehicle in a safe place and contact your
Lexus dealer. (U.S.A.)

Malfunction indicator lamp
Indicates a malfunction in:
• The electronic engine control system;
• The electronic throttle control system; or
• The electronic automatic transmission control system
 Have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer immediately.
SRS warning light
Indicates a malfunction in:
• The SRS airbag system;
• The front passenger occupant classification system; or
• The seat belt pretensioner system
 Have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer immediately. (U.S.A.)

Indicates a malfunction in:
• The ABS; or
• The brake assist system

Parking brake warning light (warning buzzer)

Indicates that the parking brake is engaged
 Release the parking brake.
Electric power steering system warning light (warning buzzer)
Indicates a malfunction in the EPS (Electric Power Steering) sys-
tem
 Have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer immediately.
LDA (Lane Departure Alert) indicator
If the LDA indicato r is illuminated:
Indicates a malfunction in the LDA (Lane Departure Alert with
steering control) system.
 Check the warning message displa yed on the multi-information
display. (  P. 460)
If the LDA indicator flashes:
Indicates that the vehicle has deviated from the lane (while the
LDA [Lane Departure Alert with stee ring control] system is oper-
ating)
 Check the area around the vehicle and return the vehicle to
between the lane lines. (Flashes or illuminates)
PCS warning light
Indicates a malfunction in the PCS (Pre-Collision System) or that
the system is temporarily unavailable due to the vehicle being
extremely hot/cold, or dirt around a front sensor, etc.
 Follow the instructions displaye d on the multi-information dis-
play. (  P. 260, 470)
If the PCS (Pre-Collision System ) or VSC (Vehicle Stability Con-
trol) system is disabled, the PC S warning light will illuminate.

Slip indicator
Indicates a malfunction in:
• The VSC (Vehicle Stability Control) system;
• The TRAC (Traction Control) system; or
• The hill-start assist control system
The light will flash when the VSC or the TRAC system is operating.
 Have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer immediately. (If equipped)
Automatic headlight leve ling system warning light
Indicates a malfunction in the automatic headlight leveling system
 Have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer immediately.
Open door warning light (warning buzzer)

Indicates that a door or the trunk is not fully closed

If both the ABS and the brake sy stem warning lights remain on
Stop your vehicle in a safe place immediat ely and contact your Lexus dealer. The vehi-
cle will become extremely unstable during br aking, and the ABS system may fail, which
could cause an accident resultin g in death or serious injury.■
When the electric power steering system warning light comes on
The steering wheel may become extremely heavy.
When steering wheel operations are heavier than usual, grip the steering wheel firmly
and operate it using more force than usual. ■
If the tire pressure warning light comes on
Be sure to observe the following precaution s. Failure to do so could cause a loss of
vehicle control and result in death or serious injury.
Vehicles with a spare tire ●
Stop your vehicle in a safe place as soon as possible. Adjust the tire inflation pressure
immediately. ●
If the tire pressure warning light comes on even after tire inflation pressure adjust-
ment, it is probable that you have a flat tire . Check the tires. If a tire is flat, change it
with the spare tire and have the flat tire repaired by the nearest Lexus dealer. ●
Avoid abrupt maneuvering and braking. If the vehicle tires deteriorate, you could lose
control of the steering wheel or the brakes. 
Vehicles with an emergency tire puncture repair kit ●
Stop your vehicle in a safe place as soon as possible. Adjust the tire inflation pressure
immediately. ●
If the tire pressure warning light comes on even after tire inflation pressure adjust-
ment, it is probable that you ha ve a flat tire. Check the tires. If a tire is flat, repair the
flat tire by using emergency tire puncture repair kit. ●
Avoid abrupt maneuvering and braking. If the vehicle tires deteriorate, you could lose
control of the steering wheel or the brakes. ■
If a blowout or sudden air leakage should occur
The tire pressure warning system may not activate immediately.

Indicates that engine oil level is low
This message may ap pear if the vehicle is stopped on a
slope. Move the vehicle to a level surface and check to
see if the message disappears.
 Check the level of engine oil, and add if necessary.
RC F
Indicates a malfunction in:
• The automatic headlight leveling system; or
• The Automatic High Beam system; or
• The LED headlight system
A buzzer also sounds.

• The AFS (Adaptive Front-lighting System)

Indicates that the engine oil should be changed. (After
the engine oil is changed and the message has been
reset.)
 Check and change the engine oil, and oil filter by
your Lexus dealer. After chan ging the engine oil, the
message should be reset. (  P. 403)
Indicates that all maintenanc e is required to correspond
to the driven distance on the maintenance schedule
* .
 Comes on approximately 5000 miles (8000 km)
after the message has been reset. (The indicator will
not work properly unless the message has been
reset.)
Perform the necessary maintenance. Please reset
the message after the maintenance is performed.

Indicates that the Automatic High Beam switch is
pressed while the headlights are in low beam.
 Turn the high beam on and press the Automatic
High Beam switch again.
Indicates that, since the VSC (Vehicle Stability Control)
system was turned off, the pre-collision braking and pre-
collision brake assist are stopped (The pre-collision
warning function will be operational)
 Turn the VSC on. (  P. 315)
Indicates that the PCS (Pre -Collision System) is tempo-
rarily unavailable
 When conditions improve, the system resumes
operation. If this message is displayed continuously,
have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer.Warning message Details/Actions

slightly raised off the ground.
Remove all the wheel nuts and the
tire. When resting the tire on the ground,
place the tire so that the wheel design
faces up to avoid scratching the wheel
surface. 4

WARNING ■
Replacing a flat tire ●
Do not touch the disc wheels or the area around the brakes immediately after the
vehicle has been driven.
After the vehicle has been driven the disc wheels and the area around the brakes will
be extremely hot. Touching these areas with hands, feet or other body parts while
changing a tire, etc. may result in burns. ●
Failure to follow these precautions could cau se the wheel nuts to loosen and the tire
to fall off, resulting in death or serious injury.
• Never use oil or grease on the wheel bolts or wheel nuts.
Oil and grease may cause the wheel nuts to be excessively tightened, leading to
bolt or disc wheel damage. In addition, the oil or grease can cause the wheel nuts
to loosen and the wheel may fall off, causing a serious accident. Remove any oil or
grease from the wheel bolts or wheel nuts.
• Have the wheel nuts tightened with a torque wrench to 76 ft•lbf (103 N•m,
10.5 kgf•m) as soon as possible after changing wheels.
• Do not attach a heavily damaged wheel or nament, as it may fly off the wheel while
the vehicle is moving.
• When installing a tire, only use wheel nuts that have been specifically designed for
that wheel.
• If there are any cracks or deformations in the bolt screws, nut threads or bolt holes
of the wheel, have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer.

When trouble arises One of the following may be the cause of the problem: ●
One or both of the battery terminals may be disconnected. ●
The battery may be discharged. (  P. 522)●
There may be a malfunction in the steering lock system.Contact your Lexus dealer if the problem cannot be repaired, or if repair procedures
are unknown.
When the engine does not start, the follo wing steps can be used as an interim
measure to start the engine if the engine switch is functioning normally:
Set the parking brake.
Shift the shift lever to P.
Turn the engine switch to ACCESSORY mode.
Press and hold the engine switch for about 15 seconds while depressing the
brake pedal firmly.
Even if the engine can be started using the above steps, the system may be mal-
functioning. Have the vehicle in spected by your Lexus dealer.The starter motor does not turn ove r, the interior lights and headlights
do not turn on, or the horn does not sound.

The sensor detects it and the alarm sounds. (  P. 80)
Do one of the following to de activate or stop the alarms:• Unlock the doors.
• Open the trunk using the entry function or wireless remote control.
• Turn the engine switch to ACCESSORY or IGNITION ON mode, or start the
engine.

Is the electronic key left inside th e vehicle or the moon roof opened?
