WARNING
■To prevent an accident
Observe the following precautions while driving the vehicle.
Failure to do so may result in a door open ing and an occupant falling out, resulting in death or serious injury.
●Ensure that all doors are properly closed and locked.
●Do not pull the inside handle of the doors while driving.
Be especially careful for the front doors, as the doors may be opened even if the inside lock buttons are in locked position.
●Set the rear door child-protector locks wh en children are seated in the rear seats.
■When opening or closing a door
Check the surroundings of the vehicle such as whether the vehicle is on an incline,
whether there is enough space for a door to open and whether a strong wind is blow- ing. When opening or closing the door, hold the door handle tightly to prepare for any unpredictable movement.
■When using the wireless remote control and operating the power windows or themoon roof or panoramic moon roof
Operate the power windows or the moon roof or panoramic moon roof after checking
to make sure that there is no possibility of any passenger having any of their body parts caught in the windows or the moon roof or panoramic moon roof. Also, do not allow children to operate the wireless remote contro l. It is possible for children and other
passengers to get caught in the power windows or the moon roof or panoramic moon roof.

■Before driving the vehicle
Before driving the vehicle, make sure that th e back door is fully closed. If the back door is not fully closed, it may open unexpect edly while driving, causing an accident.
■Caution while driving
●Keep the back door closed while driving. If the back door is left open, it may hit nearby objects while driving or luggage may be
unexpectedly thrown out, causing an accident. In addition, exhaust gases may enter the ve hicle, causing death or a serious health hazard. Make sure to close the back door before driving.
●Never let anyone sit in the luggage compartment. In the event of sudden braking,sudden swerving or a collision, they are susceptible to death or serious injury.
■When children are in the vehicle
Observe the following precautions. Failure to do so may result in death or serious injury.
●Do not allow children to play in the luggage compartment.
If a child is accidentally locked in the luggage compartment, they could have heat exhaustion or other injuries.
●Do not allow a child to open or close the back door.
Doing so may cause the back door to move unexpectedly, or cause the child’s hands, arms, head, or neck to be caught by the closing back door.

■Before driving the vehicle
Before driving the vehicle, make sure that the power back door is fully closed. If the power back door is not fully closed, it may open unexpectedly while driving, causing an
accident.
■Caution while driving

■When folding down the rear seatbacks and when the rear seatbacks are folded
Observe the following precautions. Failure to do so may result in death or serious injury.
●Do not fold down the rear seatbacks while driving.
●Stop the vehicle on level ground, apply the parking brake and shift the shift lever to P.
●Do not allow anyone to sit on a folded rear seatback or in the luggage compartment
while driving.
●Do not allow children to enter the luggage compartment.
■When operating the rear seatback
Observe the following precautions.
Failure to do so may result in death or serious injury.
●Keep other passengers from being hit by the rear seatback.
●Do not put your hands between the seats or near the moving parts, or let any part of
your body get caught.
●Power seat: Do not let children operate the rear seatback. Other passengers may get caught in the seat.
●Power seat: Check that there are no passengers sitting in a seat before folding itdown. Do not let passengers sit in the seat while it is being folded down.
■Seat adjustment
To reduce the risk of sliding under the lap be lt during a collision, do not recline the seat
more than necessary. If the seat is reclined excessively, the lap be lt may slide past the hips and apply restraint forces directly to the abdomen, or your ne ck may contact the shoulder belt, increasing
the risk of death or serious injury in the event of an accident. Adjustments should not be made while driving as the seat may unexpectedly move andcause the driver to lose control of the vehicle.
■After returning the rear seatback to the upright position
Observe the following precautions. Failure to do so may result in death or serious injury.
●Make sure that the rear seatback is secure ly locked in position by lightly pushing it back and forth.
●Check that the seat belts are not twisted or caught between or behind in the rear
seatback.

The power windows can be opened and closed using the switches.
Operating the switch moves the windows as follows:
Closing
One-touch closing*
Opening
One-touch opening*
*: To stop the window partway, operate the
switch in the opposite direction.
Press the switch down to lock the pas-
senger windows. The indicator light will
come on when the passenger windows
are locked.
Use this switch to prevent children from accidentally opening or closing a pas-senger window.
The passenger windows can still be opened and closed using the driver’sswitch even if the lock switch is on.

■Opening and closing the windows
●The driver is responsible for all the power window operations, including the operation for the passengers. In order to prevent acci dental operation, especially by a child, do not let a child operate the power windows. It is possible for children and other passen-
gers to have body parts caught in the power window. Also, when riding with a child, it is recommended to use the window lock switch. ( P. 210)
●When using the wireless remote control or mechanical key and operating the power
windows, operate the power window after checking to make sure that there is no pos- sibility of any passenger having any of thei r body parts caught in the window. Also do not let a child operate power window by the wireless remote control or mechanical
key. It is possible for children and other passengers to get caught in the power win- dow.
●When exiting the vehicle, turn the engine switch off, carry the key and exit the vehicle
along with the child. There may be accidental operation, due to mischief, etc., that may possibly lead to an accident.
■Jam protection function
●Never use any part of your body to intent ionally activate the jam protection function.
●The jam protection function may not work if something gets jammed just before the window is fully closed. Be careful not to ge t any part of your body jammed in the win-
dow.
■Catch protection function
●Never use any part of your body or clothing to intentionally activate the catch protec-
tion function.
●The catch protection function may not work if something gets caught just before the window is fully opened. Be careful not to get any part of your body or clothing caught
in the window.
●Check to make sure that all passengers do not have any part of their body in a positionwhere it could be caught when a window is
being operated.

■Stopping the engine
Shift the shift lever to P, set the parking brake, and press the engine switch as you nor- mally do when stopping the engine.
■Replacing the key battery
As the above procedure is a temporary measur e, it is recommended that the electronic key battery be replaced immediately when the battery is depleted. ( P. 638)
■Alarm (if equipped)
Using the mechanical key to lock the doors will not set the alarm system.
If a door is unlocked using the mechanical key when the alarm system is set, the alarm may be triggered. ( P. 83)
■Changing engine switch modes
Release the brake pedal and press the engine switch in step above.
The engine does not start an d modes will be changed each time the switch is pressed.
( P. 247)
■When the electronic key does not work properly
●Make sure that the smart entry & start system has not been deactivated in the
customization setting. If it is off, turn the function on. (Customizable features P. 743)
●Check if battery-saving mode is set. If it is set, cancel the function. (P. 170)

or panoramic moon roof

●If you lose your mechanical keys, new genuine mechanical keys can be made
by any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and

●If you lose your electronic keys, the risk of vehicle theft increases significantly.
Contact any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified
and equipped professional immediately. ( P. 138)
●Is the electronic key battery weak or depleted? (P. 638)
●Is the engine switch in IGNITION ON mode?
When locking the doors, turn the engine switch off. ( P. 247)
●Is the electronic key left inside the vehicle?
When locking the doors, make sure that you have the electronic key on your
person.
●The function may not operate properly due to the condition of the radio wave.

●Is the child-protector lock set?
The rear door cannot be opened from inside the vehicle when the lock is set.
