■Alarms and warning messages
A combination of exterior and interior alarms as well as warning messages shown on the multi-information display are used to prevent theft of the vehicle and accidents resulting
from erroneous operation. Take appropriate measures in response to any warning mes- sage on the multi-information display. ( P. 673)
The following table describes circumstances and correction procedures when only
alarms are sounded.
■If a warning message is displayed indicating that there is a malfunction in the smart
entry & start system

■Battery-saving function
The battery-saving function will be activated in order to prevent the electronic key bat- tery and the battery from being discharged while the vehicle is not in operation for a longtime.
●In the following situations, the smart entry & start system may take some time to unlockthe doors.
• The electronic key has been left in an area of approximately 2 m (6 ft.) of the outside
of the vehicle for 10 minutes or longer. • The smart entry & start system has no t been used for 5 days or longer.
●If the smart entry & start system has not been used for 14 days or longer, the doors can- not be unlocked at any doors except the driver’s door. In this case, take hold of thedriver’s door handle, or use the wireless remote control or the mechanical key, to
unlock the doors.

■Caution regarding interference with electronic devices
●People with implantable cardiac pacemakers, cardiac resynchronization therapy- pacemakers or implantable cardioverter de fibrillators should maintain a reasonable
distance between themselves and the sm art entry & start system antennas. (P. 168) The radio waves may affect the operation of such devices. If necessary, the entryfunction can be disabled. Ask any authoriz ed Lexus dealer or repairer, or another
duly qualified and equipped professional for details, such as the frequency of radio waves and timing of the emitted radio waves. Then, consult your doctor to see if you should disable the entry function.
●Users of any electrical medical device other than implantable cardiac pacemakers,cardiac resynchronization therapy-pacemakers or implantable cardioverterdefibrillators should consult the manufacturer of the device for information about its
operation under the influence of radio waves. Radio waves could have unexpected effects on the operation of such medicaldevices.
Ask any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped professional for details on disabling the entry function.

WARNING
■When adjusting the seat position
●Take care when adjusting the seat position to ensure that other passengers are not injured by the moving seat.
●Do not put your hands under the seat or near the moving parts to avoid injury. Fingers or hands may become jammed in the seat mechanism.
●Make sure to leave enough space around the feet so they do not get stuck.
■Seat adjustment
To reduce the risk of sliding under the lap be lt during a collision, do not recline the seat more than necessary.
If the seat is too reclined, th e lap belt may slide past the hips and apply restraint forces directly to the abdomen, or your neck may contact the shoulder belt, increasing the riskof death or serious injury in the event of an accident.
Adjustments should not be made while driving as the seat may unexpectedly move and cause the driver to lose control of the vehicle.

WARNING
■When folding down the rear seatbacks and when the rear seatbacks are folded
Observe the following precautions. Failure to do so may result in death or serious injury.
●Do not fold down the rear seatbacks while driving.
●Stop the vehicle on level ground, apply the parking brake and shift the shift lever to P.
●Do not allow anyone to sit on a folded rear seatback or in the luggage compartment
while driving.
●Do not allow children to enter the luggage compartment.
■When operating the rear seatback
Observe the following precautions.
Failure to do so may result in death or serious injury.
●Keep other passengers from being hit by the rear seatback.
●Do not put your hands between the seats or near the moving parts, or let any part of
your body get caught.
●Power seat: Do not let children operate the rear seatback. Other passengers may get caught in the seat.
●Power seat: Check that there are no passengers sitting in a seat before folding itdown. Do not let passengers sit in the seat while it is being folded down.
■Seat adjustment

●Make sure that the rear seatback is secure ly locked in position by lightly pushing it back and forth.
●Check that the seat belts are not twisted or caught between or behind in the rear
seatback.

WARNING
■Jam protection function (power seat)
Observe the following precautions.
Failure to do so may result in death or serious injury.
●Never use any part of your body to intent ionally activate the jam protection function.
●The jam protection function may not work if something gets caught just before the
rear seatback is fully folded forward. Be careful not to get fingers or anything else
caught.
●The jam protection function may not work depending on the shape of the object that
is caught. Be careful not to get fingers or anything else caught.
NOTICE
■Stowing the seat belts
The seat belt for the rear center seat, seat belt buckles and armrest must be stowed before you fold down the rear seatbacks. ( P. 576)

■Cancelation procedure
Carry only the key you want to cancel and then close the driver’s door.
If 2 or more keys are in the vehicle, the driving position cannot be canceled
properly.
Turn the engine switch to IGNITION ON mode.
While pressing the “SET” button, press and hold the door lock switch
(either lock or unlock) until the buzzer sounds twice.
If it button could not be canceled, the buzzer sounds continuously for approxi-
mately 3 seconds.
■Recalling the driving position us ing the memory recall function
●Different driving positions can be registered for each electronic key. Therefore, the driving position that is recalled may be different depending on the key being carried.
●If a door other than the driver’s door is unlocked with the smart entry & start system, the
driving position cannot be reca lled. In this case, press the driving position button which has been set.
■Customization
Some functions can be customized. ( P. 740)

Always raise the head restraint one leve l from the stowed position when using.
Pull the head restraint up while pressing the lock release button.
If the head restraint to uches the ceiling, making the removal difficult, change the seat height orangle. ( P. 185, 186)
Align the head restraint with the installation holes and push it down to the lock position.
Press and hold the lock release button when lowering the head restraint.
Make sure that the head restraints are adjusted so that the center of the head restraint is closestto the top of your ears.

■Head restraint precautions
Observe the following precautions regarding the head restraints.
Failure to do so may result in death or serious injury.
●Use the head restraints designed for each respective seat.
●Adjust the head restraints to the correct position at all times.
●After adjusting the head restraints, push down on them and make sure they are locked in position.
●Do not drive with the head restraints removed.

*: If the driver’s seat belt is fastened, the steering wheel can be adjusted regardless of
engine switch mode.
■Automatic adjustment of the steering position (if equipped)
A desired steering position can be entered to memory and recalled automatically by the
driving position memory system. ( P. 195)
■Power easy access system
The steering wheel and driver’s seat (on some models) move in accordance with engine
switch mode and the driver’s seat belt condition. ( P. 195)
■Customization
Some functions can be customized. ( P. 740)

Auto anti-glare inside rear view mirror
Responding to the level of brightness of the headlights of vehicles behind, the
reflected light is automatically reduced.
Changing automatic anti-glare func-
tion mode
ON/OFF
When the automatic anti-glare function is in ON mode, the indicator illuminates.
The function will set to ON mode each time the engine switch is turned toIGNITION ON mode.
Pressing the button turns the function to OFF mode. (The indicator also turnsoff.)
■To prevent sensor error (vehicles with au to anti-glare inside rear view mirror)

■Important points while driving
Observe the following precautions while driving. Failing to do so may result in loss of control of the vehicle and cause an accident, result-
ing in death or serious injury.
●Do not adjust the mirrors while driving.
●Do not drive with the mirrors folded.
●Both the driver and passenger side mirrors must be extended and properly adjusted before driving.
■When a mirror is moving
To avoid personal injury and mirror malfunction, be careful not to get your hand caught by the moving mirror.
■When the mirror defoggers are operating
Do not touch the rear view mirror surfaces, as they can become very hot and burn you.
