Turns the brake hold system on
The brake hold standby indicator
(green) comes on. While the system is holding the brake, the brake hold oper-ated indicator (yellow) comes on.
■Brake hold system operating conditions
The brake hold system cannot be turn ed on in the following conditions:
●The driver’s door is not closed.
●The driver is not wearing the seat belt.
If any of the conditions above are detected when the brake hold system is enabled, the
system will turn off and the brake hold standby indicator light will go off. In addition, if any of the conditions are detected while the sy stem is holding the brake, a warning buzzer will sound and a message will be shown on th e multi-information display. The parking
brake will then be set automatically.
■Brake hold function
●If the brake pedal is left released for a pe riod of about 3 minutes after the system has
started holding the brake, th e parking brake will be set automatically. In this case, a warning buzzer sounds and a message is shown on the multi-information display.
●To turn the system off while the system is holding the brake, firmly depress the brake
pedal and press the button again.
●The brake hold function may not hold the vehicle when the vehicle is on a steep incline. In this situation, it may be necessary for the driver to apply the brakes. A warning
buzzer will sound and the multi-information disp lay will inform the driver of this situa- tion. If a warning message is shown on the multi-information display, read the message and follow the instructions.
Brake Hold
The brake hold system keeps the brake a pplied when the shift lever is in D, M
or N with the system on and the brake pedal has been depressed to stop the
vehicle. The system releases the brake when the accelerator pedal is
depressed with the shift lever in D or M to allow smooth start off.

This mode employs a radar sensor to detect the presence of vehicles up to
approximately 100 m (328 ft.) ahead, determines the current vehicle-to-vehicle
following distance, and operates to maintain a suitable following distance from
the vehicle ahead.
Note that vehicle-to-vehicle distance will close in when traveling on long downhill slopes.
Example of constant speed cruising
When there are no vehicles ahead
The vehicle travels at the speed set by the driver. The desired vehicle-to-vehicle dis- tance can also be set by operating the vehicle-to-vehicle distance button.
Example of deceleration cruising and follow-up cruising
When a preceding vehicle driving slower than the set speed appears
When a vehicle is detected running ahead of you, the system automatically deceler- ates your vehicle. When a greater reductio n in vehicle speed is necessary, the system applies the brakes (the stop lights will come on at this time). The system will respond to
changes in the speed of the vehicle ahead in order to maintain the vehicle-to-vehicle distance set by the driver. Approach wa rning warns you when the system cannot decelerate sufficiently to prevent your vehicle from closing in on the vehicle ahead.
When the vehicle ahead of you stops, your ve hicle will also stop (vehicle is stopped by system control). After the vehicle ahead starts off, pushing the cruise control lever upor depressing the accelerator peda l will resume follow-up cruising.
Example of acceleration
When there are no longer any preceding vehicles driving slower than the set
speed
The system accelerates until the set speed is reached. The system then returns to con-
stant speed cruising.

Pressing the button changes the vehi-
cle-to-vehicle distance as follows:
Long
Medium
Short
The vehicle-to-vehicle distance is set automatically to long mode when theengine switch is turned to IGNITION
ON mode.
If a vehicle is running ahead of you, the preceding vehicle mark will also be displayed.
Select a distance from the table below. Note that the distances shown corre-
spond to a vehicle speed of 80 km/h (50 mph). Vehicle-to-vehicle distance
increases/decreases in accordance with vehicle speed. When the vehicle is
stopped by system control, the vehicle- to-vehicle distance will be about 3 m
(10 ft.) to 5 m (16 ft.) regardless of the vehicle-to-vehicle distance setting.
After the vehicle ahead of you starts off,
push the lever up.
Your vehicle will also resume follow-up
cruising if the accelerator pedal is

■Registering air conditioning settings to electronic keys (vehicles with driving position
memory)
●Unlocking the vehicle using an electronic ke y and turning the engine switch to IGNI- TION ON mode will recall that key’s registered air conditioning settings.
●When the engine switch is turned off, the current air conditioning settings will automat- ically be registered to the electronic key that was used to unlock the vehicle.
●The system may not operate correctly if more than one electronic key is in the vicinity or
if the smart entry & start system is used to unlock a passenger door.
●The doors that can recall the air conditioni ng setting when unlocked using the smart entry & start system can be changed.* For details, contact any authorized Lexus dealer
or repairer, or another duly qu alified and equipped professional.
*: The doors that can recall the driving position memory are changed at the same time.
■Using automatic mode
Fan speed is adjusted automatically according to the temperature setting and the ambi-
ent conditions. Therefore, the fan may stop for a while until wa rm or cool air is ready to flow immediately after the “AUTO” button is pressed or “AUTO” is selected.
■Operation of S-FLOW mode
In automatic mode, S-FLOW mode will be turned off if a rear door has been opened and
closed. To activate S-FLOW mode again, press .
■Automatic mode for air intake control (if equipped)
In automatic mode, the system detects exhaust gas and other pollutants and automati-
cally switches between outside air and recirculated air modes.
When the dehumidification function is off, and the fan is operating, turning automatic mode on will activate the dehumidification function.
■Fogging up of the windows
●The windows will easily fog up when the humidi ty in the vehicle is high. Selecting “A/C” will dehumidify the air from the outlets and defog the windshield effectively.
●If you turn “A/C” off, the windows may fog up more easily.
●The windows may fog up if the recirculated air mode is used.
