When driving

■If the engine does not start
The engine immobilizer system may not have been deactivated. (→P. 1 1 5 )
Contact any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and
equipped professional immediately.
■Steering lock
After turning the “ENGINE START STOP” switch off and opening and closing the
doors, the steering wheel will be locked due to the steering lock function. Operat-
ing the “ENGINE START STOP” switch again automatically cancels the steering
lock.
■When the steering lock cannot be released
■Steering lock motor overheating prevention
To prevent the steering lock motor from overheating, the motor may be suspended
if the engine is turned on and off repeatedly in a short period of time. In this case,
refrain from operating the engine. After about 2 seconds, the steering lock motor
will resume functioning.
■When the “ENGINE START STOP” switch indicator flashes in amber
The system may be malfunctioning. Have the vehicle inspected by any authorized
Lexus dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped professional,
immediately.
■If the electronic key battery is depleted
→P. 5 0 1The green indicator light on the “ENGINE
START STOP” switch will flash and a mes-
sage will be shown on the multi-information
display. Press the “ENGINE START STOP”
switch again while turning the steering wheel
left and right.

CAUTION
■When starting the engine
Always start the engine while sitting in the driver's seat. Do not depress the acceler-
ator pedal while starting the engine under any circumstances.
Doing so may cause an accident resulting in death or serious injury.
■Caution while driving
If the vehicle begins to slide due to engine failure or other circumstances, do not
lock or open the doors until the vehicle reaches a safe and complete stop. Activa-
tion of the steering lock in this circumstance may lead to an accident, resulting in
death or serious injury.
■Stopping the engine in an emergency
If you want to stop the engine in an emergency while driving the vehicle, press and
hold the “ENGINE START STOP” switch for more than 2 seconds, or press it
briefly 3 times or more in succession. (→P. 6 0 3 )
However, do not touch the “ENGINE START STOP” switch while driving except in
an emergency. Turning the engine off while driving will not cause loss of steering or
braking control, but the power assist to these systems will be lost. This will make it
more difficult to steer and brake, so you should pull over and stop the vehicle as
soon as it is safe to do so.

■Electronic features control can be turned on/off when
The “ENGINE START STOP” switch is in IGNITION ON mode.
■Conditions for ending electronic features control
In the following situations, the electronic features control will end:
●The menu switch is pressed.
●The dynamic radar cruise control is operated (if equipped).
●Lexus parking assist-sensor starts operating (if equipped).
●No action is performed for some time after the electronic features control
screen is displayed.
●A warning message appears after the electronic features control screen is dis-
played.
■Window close suggestion mode
●In the following situations, the window close suggestion mode will not operate:
• A warning message appears on the multi-information display.
• The window lock switch is on.
• All the windows are closed.
• The window close suggestion mode has been disabled in the customized set-
tings.
• The driver's or front passenger's door is open.
●In the following situations, the window close suggestion mode will end:
• The “ENGINE START STOP” switch is turned to IGNITION ON mode.
• About 20 seconds have passed since the “ENGINE START STOP” switch
was turned off.
• A warning message appears on the multi-information display.
• All the windows are closed.
• The window lock switch is turned on.
• The menu switch is pressed.
• The driver's or front passenger's door is opened.
• The windows were opened or closed by the wireless remote control.

●In the following situations, the window close operation will stop partway:
• The “ENGINE START STOP” switch is turned to IGNITION ON mode.
• The “ENTER” switch was pressed.
• The window lock switch was turned on.
• The jam protection function was activated.
• The windows were opened or closed by the wireless remote control.
If the power window switch of any of the door is operated while in windows close
suggestion mode, the windows close operation of that door will stop partway.
■Eco Driving Indicator
■Outside temperature display
In the following situations, the correct outside temperature may not be displayed, or
the display may take longer than normal to change.
●When stopped, or driving at low speeds (less than 25km/h [16mph])
●When the outside temperature has changed suddenly (at the entrance/exit of a

■Daytime running light system
To make your vehicle more visible to other drivers, the daytime running lights turn
on automatically whenever the engine is started. Daytime running lights are not
designed for use at night.
■Headlight control sensor
■Automatic light off system
●When the light switch is in or : The headlights turn off automatically
if the “ENGINE START STOP” switch is turned to ACCESSORY mode or
turned off.
●When the light switch is in : The headlights and tail lights turn off automati-
cally if the “ENGINE START STOP” switch is turned to ACCESSORY mode or
turned off.
To turn the lights on again, turn the “ENGINE START STOP” switch to IGNITION
ON mode, or turn the light switch off once and then back to or .
■Automatic headlight leveling system (if equipped)
The level of the headlights is automatically adjusted according to the number of
passengers and the loading condition of the vehicle to ensure that the headlights do
not interfere with other road users.
■If the “AFS OFF” indicator flashes (if equipped)
It may indicate a malfunction in the system. Contact any authorized Lexus dealer or
repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped professional.The sensor may not function properly if an
object is placed on the sensor, or anything
that blocks the sensor is affixed to the wind-
shield.
Doing so interferes with the sensor detecting
the level of ambient light and may cause the
automatic headlight system to malfunction.

■Light reminder buzzer
A buzzer sounds when the “ENGINE START STOP” switch is turned off or turned
to ACCESSORY mode and the driver's door is opened while the lights are turned
on.
■Turning on the low beam headlights when the vehicle is parked in dark areas
■Illuminated entry system
If the wireless remote control switch is used to unlock the vehicle when the light
switch is in and the surrounding area is dark, the front position light turns on.
■Customization
Settings (e.g. light sensor sensitivity) can be changed.

NOTICE
■To prevent battery discharge
Do not leave the lights on longer than necessary when the engine is off.
Turn off the engine with the light switch in
or off, and pull the light switch toward
you and release it. The low beam headlights
will turn on for about 30 seconds to light
up the area around the vehicle.
The lights are turned off in the following sit-
uations.
●The “ENGINE START STOP” switch is
turned to IGNITION ON mode.
●The light switch is turned on.
●The light switch is pulled toward you
and then released.

■Raindrop sensor
●If the wiper switch is turned to the position while the “ENGINE START
STOP” switch is in IGNITION ON mode, the wipers will operate once to show
that AUTO mode is activated.
●When the sensor sensitivity ring is turned toward high while in AUTO mode, the
wipers will operate once to indicate that the sensor sensitivity is enhanced.
●If the temperature of the raindrop sensor is 90°C (194°F) or higher, or -15°C
(5°F) or lower, automatic operation may not occur. In this case, operate the wip-
ers in any mode other than AUTO.
■If no windshield washer fluid sprays
Check that the washer nozzles are not blocked if there is washer fluid in the wind-
shield washer fluid reservoir.
CAUTION
■Caution regarding the use of windshield wipers in AUTO mode
The windshield wipers may operate unexpectedly if the sensor is touched or the
windshield is subject to vibration in AUTO mode. Take care that your fingers etc. do
not become caught in the windshield wipers.
■Caution regarding the use of washer fluid
When it is cold, do not use the washer fluid until the windshield becomes warm. The
fluid may freeze on the windshield and cause low visibility. This may lead to an acci-
dent, resulting in death or serious injury.
●The raindrop sensor judges the amount
of raindrops.
An optical sensor is adopted. It may not
operate properly when sunlight from the
rising or setting of the sun intermittently
strikes the windshield, or if bugs etc. are
present on the windshield.

NOTICE
■When the windshield is dry
Do not use the wipers, as they may damage the windshield.
■When the washer fluid tank is empty
Damage to the washer fluid pump may be caused if the lever is pulled toward you
and held continually.
■When a nozzle becomes blocked
In this case, contact any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or another duly quali-
fied and equipped professional.
Do not try to clear it with a pin or other object. The nozzle will be damaged.
