Vehicle exterior Items Check points
Doors • Do the doors operate smoothly?
Engine hood • Does the engine hood lock system
work properly?
Fluid leaks • There should not be any signs of
fluid leakage after the vehicle has
been parked.
Ti r e s • Is the tire inflation pressure cor-
rect?
• The tires should not be damaged or
excessively worn.
• Have the tires been rotated
according to the maintenance
schedule?
• The wheel nuts should not be loose.
Windshield wipers • The wiper blades should not show
any signs of cracking, splitting,
wear, contamination or deforma-
tion.
• The wiper blades should clear the
windshield without streaking or
skipping.

If the hybrid system is operating
Turn the hybrid system off and ensure that there is adequate ventilation before per-
forming maintenance checks.

If the electronic key do es not operate properly
Locking and unlocking the side doors and key linked functions
Use the mechanical key ( P. 5 2 )
in order to perform the following
operations (driver’s door only):
Locks all the doors
Closes the windows and moon
roof (turn and hold)
Unlocks the door Turning the key rearward unlocks
the driver's door. Turning the key
once again unlocks the other
doors.
Opens the windows and moon
roof (turn and hold)If communication between the electron ic key and vehicle is interrupted
( P. 62) or the electronic key cannot be used because the battery is
depleted, the smart access system with push-button start and wireless
remote control cannot be used. In such cases, the doors can be opened and
the hybrid system can be started by following the procedure below.

Starting the hybrid system when the 12-volt battery is discharged
The hybrid system cannot be started by push-starting.■
To prevent 12-volt battery discharge ●
Turn off the headlights and the audio sy stem while the hybrid system is off.●
Turn off any unnecessary electrical compon ents when the vehicle is running at a
low speed for an extended period, such as in heavy traffic.■
When the 12-volt battery is removed or discharged ●
The power back door must be initialized.

The hybrid system may not start. (

Make sure that the key is not inside th e vehicle when recharging or replacing
the 12-volt battery. The key may be locked in the vehicle if the alarm is activated.
( P. 1 2 8 ) Start the engine of the second vehicle. Increase the engine
speed slightly and maintain that level for approximately 5 min-
utes to recharge the 12-volt battery of your vehicle.
Open and close any of the doors of your vehicle with the
“POWER” switch off.
Maintain the engine sp eed of the second ve hicle and start the
hybrid system of your vehicle by turning the “POWER” switch
to ON mode.
Make sure the “READY” indicat or comes on. If the indicator
does not come on, contact your Lexus dealer.
Once the hybrid system has st arted, remove the jumper cables
in the exact reverse order from which they were connected.
Once the hybrid system starts, have the vehicle inspected at your
Lexus dealer as soon as possible. STEP 4
