Change the rest position of the windshie ld wipers to the service position using
the wiper lever and then lift a windshield wiper. ( P. 270)
While pressing and holding the
wiper blade lock release button,
remove the wiper blade.
When performing this operation, make
sure to hold the hook portion of the
wiper arm securely.
While disengaging the cap lock,
using a tool such as a flathead
screwdriver if necessary, remove the
wiper insert.
Hold the cap on the end of the wiper
insert when removing the wiper insert.
(The cap is integrated into the wiper
insert.)
If using a screwdriver, make sure to wrap
its tip with tape to protect the wiper
blade.
Install a new wiper insert.
Make sure to push the wiper insert firmly until the cap lock is engaged.
After installation, check that th e cap lock is locked securely.
Install the wiper blade to the wiper arm.
Make sure to push the wiper blade until it is locked.
When performing this operation, make sure to hold the hook portion of the wiper arm
securely.
After installation, check that the wiper blade is locked securely.

●Flathead screwdriver
●Lithium battery CR2032
Take out the mechanical key.
Remove the cover.
To prevent damage to the key, cover the
tip of the flathead screwdriver with a
tape.
Remove the depleted battery.
When removing the cover, the elec-
tronic key module may stick to the cover
and the battery may not be visible. In this
case, remove the el ectronic key module
in order to remove the battery.
Insert a new battery with the “+” termi-
nal facing up.
Electronic key battery
Replace the battery with a new one if it is depleted.

Turn the power switch off.
Open the fuse box cover.
■Engine compartment
Push the tab in and lift the lid off.
■Driver’s side instrument panel
Remove the lid.
Checking and replacing fuses
If any of the electrical components do not operate, a fuse may have blown. If
this happens, check and repl ace the fuses as necessary.

Make sure the vehicle has a full tank of gasoline and the area around the
headlight is not deformed.
Park the vehicle on level ground.
Sit in the driver’s seat.
Bounce the vehicle several times.

Using a Phillips-head screwdriver,
turn bolt A in either direction.
Remember the turning direction and the
number of turns.
Turn bolt B the same number of turns
and in the same direction as step .
If the headlight cannot be adjusted using
this procedure, take the vehicle to your
Lexus dealer to adjust the headlight aim.

■Front side marker lights (vehicle s with single-beam headlights)
To ensure enough space to per-
form work, turn the steering
wheel to rotate the front wheel
away from the bulb to be
replaced.
Remove the 3 fender liner clips.
Turn the steering wheel to the left
when replacing the right side light
bulb, and turn the steering wheel to
the right when replacing the left side
light bulb.
When removing a fender liner clip,
use a flathead screwdriver to pry the
center portion out and then remove
the whole clip.
Pull back the fender liner until the
connector is visible.
Partially remove the fender liner
and turn the bulb base counter-
clockwise and remove it.

■Front turn signal lights (vehic les with single-beam headlights)
To ensure enough space to per-
form work, turn the steering
wheel to rotate the front wheel
away from the bulb to be
replaced.
Remove the 3 fender liner clips.
Turn the steering wheel to the left
when replacing the right side light
bulb, and turn the steering wheel to
the right when replacing the left side
light bulb.

■Rear turn signal lights (vehic les with single-beam headlights)
Open the back door and apply
protective tape to the vehicle
body around the taillight.
Use masking tape, etc. Do not use
duct tape, as it may leave residue or
damage the paint when removed.
Using a flathead screwdriver,
remove the cover.
To prevent scratching the vehicle,
wrap the tip of the flathead screw-
driver with a cloth, etc.
Remove the 2 screws.

■Back-up lightsOpen the back door and remove
the cover.
Using a flathead screwdriver, remove
the cover.
To prevent scratching to the vehicle,
wrap the tip of the flathead screw-
driver with a cloth, etc.
Turn the bulb base counterclock-
wise and remove it.
Remove the light bulb.
Install a new light bulb and then
install the bulb base to the light
unit by inserting it and turning it
clockwise.
After installing th e bulb base, wiggle
it lightly to make sure it is securely
installed and turn on the back-up
lights to visually check that there is no
light leaking from between the bulb
base and light unit.

Press the switch.
All the turn signal lights will flash. To turn
them off, press the switch once again.
■Emergency flashers
If the emergency flashers are used for a long
time while the hybrid system is not operat-
ing (while the “READY” indicator is not illu minated), the 12-volt battery may discharge.
Emergency flashers
The emergency flashers are used to warn other drivers when the vehicle has
to be stopped on the road due to a breakdown, etc.
