•Do not leave playing devices in yourvehicle during extreme conditions as itcould cause them damage. See yourdevice's user guide for furtherinformation.
•For your safety, some SYNC 3 functionsare speed-dependent. Their use is limitedto when your vehicle is traveling atspeeds under 3 mph (5 km/h). Make surethat you review your device's manualbefore using it with SYNC 3.
Speed-restricted Features
Some features of this system may be toodifficult to use while your vehicle is movingso they are restricted from use unless yourvehicle is stationary.
•Screens crowded with information, suchas Points of Interest reviews and ratings,SiriusXM Travel Link sports information,or ski condition search areas.
•Any action that requires you to use akeyboard is restricted, such as enteringa navigation destination or editinginformation.
•All lists are limited so the user can viewfewer entries (such as phone contacts orrecent phone call entries).

You can direct air through any combinationof these air vents.
Setting the Blower Motor Speed
Touch up or down to increase ordecrease the volume of air thatcirculates in your vehicle.
Setting the Temperature
Touch up or down on the left-handtemperature control to set the left-handtemperature.
Note:This control also adjusts the right-handside temperature when you switch off dualzone mode.
Touch up or down on the right-handtemperature control to set the right-handtemperature.
Switching Auto Mode On and Off
Touch the button to switch onautomatic operation, then set thetemperature.
The system adjusts the blower motor speed,air distribution, air conditioning operation,and outside or recirculated air to reach andmaintain the temperature you have set.
Switching the Air Conditioning On andOff
A pop-up appears on the screento display the air conditioningoptions.
MAX A/C: Touch the button to activate andmaximize cooling. The driver and passengertemperatures are set to LO, recirculated airflows through the instrument panel vents, airconditioning automatically turns on and thefan automatically adjusts to the highestspeed.
A/C: Touch to switch the air conditioning onor off. Use A/C with recirculated air toimprove cooling performance and efficiency.
Note:In certain conditions, such asmaximum defrost, the air conditioningcompressor may continue to operate eventhough you switch off the air conditioning.

Switching the Climate Controlled SeatsOn and Off
Touch the button to cycle throughthe various climate controlled seatsettings and off.
Switching Dual Zone Mode On and Off
Touch the button to switch ontemperature control for theright-hand side of the vehicle.

Switching the Heated Rear Window Onand Off
Touch the button to clear the rearwindow of thin ice and fog.
Switching the Heated Seats On and Off
Touch the button to cycle throughthe various heat settings and off.
Switching the Heated Steering WheelOn and Off
Touch the button.
Switching Maximum Air ConditioningOn and Off
Touch the button for maximumcooling.
Recirculated air flows through the instrumentpanel air vents, air conditioning turns on andthe blower motor adjusts to the highestspeed.
Switching Maximum Defrost On andOff
Touch the button for maximumdefrosting.
Air flows through the windshield air vents,and the blower motor adjusts to the highestspeed.
You can also use this setting to defog andclear the windshield of a thin covering of ice.
Note:To prevent window fogging, youcannot select recirculated air whenmaximum defrost is on.
Note:The heated rear window also turns onwhen you select maximum defrost.
Switching Recirculated Air On and Off
Touch the button to switchbetween outside air andrecirculated air.
The air currently in the passengercompartment recirculates. This may reducethe time needed to cool the interior, whenused with A/C, and reduce unwanted odorsfrom entering your vehicle.
Note:Recirculated air may turn off, orprevent you from switching on, in all air flowmodes except MAX A/C to reduce the riskof fogging. Recirculation may also turn onand off in various air distribution controlcombinations during hot weather to improvecooling efficiency.
Switching the Ventilated Seats On andOff
Touch the button to cycle throughthe various ventilated seat settingsand off.
Accessing Rear Climate Controls
Touch the button to accessadditional controls for the rearclimate system.

Check Every Six Months
Safety belts and seat latches for wear and function.
Safety warning lamps (brake, ABS, airbag and safety belt) for operation.
Washer spray and wiper operation. Clean or replace blades as necessary.

SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE
If you operate your vehicle primarily in anyof the following conditions, you need toperform extra maintenance as indicated. Ifyou operate your vehicle occasionally underany of these conditions, it is not necessaryto perform the extra maintenance. Forspecific recommendations, see yourdealership service advisor or technician.
Perform the services shown in the followingtables when specified or within 3,000 mi(4,800 km) of the message appearing in theinformation display prompting you to changeyour oil.
•Example 1: The message comes on at28,750 mi (46,270 km). Perform the30,000 mi (48,000 km) automatictransmission fluid replacement.
•Example 2: The message has not comeon, but the odometer reads 30,000 mi(48,000 km) (for example, the IntelligentOil-Life Monitor was reset at 25,000 mi(40,000 km). Perform the engine air filterreplacement.

Exceptions
There are several exceptions to the NormalSchedule:
Axle and PTU Maintenance
The Power Transfer Unit (PTU) and rear axle(AWD only) in your vehicle does not requireany normal scheduled maintenance unlessthe vehicle has experienced extendedperiods of extreme/severe duty cycle drivingor the PTU and/or the rear axle has beensubmerged in water. Checking the PTU andrear axle fluid is not necessary unless theunit shows signs of leakage. Contact anauthorized dealer for service.
California Fuel Filter Replacement
If you register your vehicle in California, theCalifornia Air Resources Board hasdetermined that the failure to perform thismaintenance item does not nullify theemission warranty or limit recall liabilitybefore the completion of your vehicle'suseful life. Ford Motor Company, however,urges you to have all recommendedmaintenance services performed at thespecified intervals and to record all vehicleservice.
Hot Climate Oil Change Intervals
Vehicles operating in the Middle East, NorthAfrica, Sub-Saharan Africa or locations withsimilar climates using an American PetroleumInstitute (API) Certified for Gasoline Engines(Certification mark) oil of SM or SN quality,the normal oil change interval is 3,000 mi(5,000 km).
If the available API SM or SN oils are notavailable, then the oil change interval is2,000 mi (3,000 km).

Engine Air Filter and Cabin Air FilterReplacement
The life of the engine air filter and cabin airfilter is dependent on exposure to dusty and
dirty conditions. Vehicles operated in theseconditions require frequent inspection andreplacement of the engine air filter and cabinair filter.
