System Limitations
WARNING: The collision warningsystem’s brake support can only helpreduce the speed at which a collisionoccurs if the driver applies the vehicle’sbrakes. The brake pedal must be pressedjust like any typical braking situation.
Due to the nature of radar technology, theremay be certain instances where vehicles donot provide a collision warning. Theseinclude:
•Stationary vehicles or vehicles movingbelow 6 mph (10 km/h).
•Pedestrians or objects in the roadway.
•Oncoming vehicles in the same lane.
•Severe weather conditions (see blockedsensor section).
•Debris build-up on the grille near theheadlamps (see blocked sensor section).
•Small distance to vehicle ahead.
•Steering wheel and pedal movementsare large (very active driving style).
If the front end of the vehicle is hit ordamaged, the radar sensing zone may bealtered causing missed or false collisionwarnings. See your authorized dealer to haveyour collision warning radar checked forproper coverage and operation.
DRIVE CONTROL (If Equipped)
Lincoln Drive Control
Lincoln Drive Control delivers the Lincolndriving experience through a suite ofsophisticated electronic vehicle systems.These systems continuously monitor yourdriving inputs and the road conditions tooptimize ride comfort, steering, handling,powertrain response and sound. You canpreset your preferences for these systemswithin the information display. Lincoln DriveControl will respond to your preferencesbased on what gear position you select. Thisprovides a single location to control multiplesystems performance settings.
Lincoln Drive Control consists of thefollowing systems:
•Adaptive suspension dynamically adjuststhe shock absorbers stiffness in real timeto match the road surface and driverinputs. This system continuously monitorsyour vehicle’s motion, suspensionposition, load, speed, road conditionsand steering to adjust the suspensiondamping for optimal vehicle control.
•Electronically power-assisted steeringadjusts steering effort and feel based onyour vehicle speed and your inputs.
•Active noise control utilizes your vehicleelectronics to enhance the acousticexperience.
•Electronic stability control and tractioncontrol maintain your vehicle control inadverse conditions or high performancedriving.
•Electronic throttle control enhances thepowertrain response to your inputs.

Driving Aids

Only use oils certified for gasoline enginesby the American Petroleum Institute (API). An oil with this trademark symbol conformsto the current engine and emission systemprotection standards and fuel economyrequirements of the International LubricantsSpecification Advisory Committee (ILSAC).
To top up the engine oil level do thefollowing:
1. Clean the area surrounding the engineoil filler cap before you remove it.
2. Remove the engine oil filler cap. SeeUnder Hood Overview (page 284). Turnit counterclockwise and remove it.
3. Add engine oil that meets ourspecifications. See Capacities andSpecifications (page 355). You may haveto use a funnel to pour the engine oil intothe opening.
4. Recheck the oil level.
5. If the oil level is correct, replace thedipstick and make sure it is fully seated.
6. Replace the engine oil filler cap. Turn itclockwise until you feel a strongresistance.
Note: Do not add oil further than themaximum mark. Oil levels above themaximum mark may cause engine damage.
Note:Make sure you install the oil filler capcorrectly.
Note:Soak up any spillage with anabsorbent cloth immediately.
OIL CHANGE INDICATOR RESET
Use the information display controls on thesteering wheel to reset the oil changeindicator.
From the main menu scroll to:

12. Lower the wheel by turning the jackhandle counterclockwise.
13. Remove the jack and fully tighten thelug nuts in the order shown. SeeTechnical Specifications (page 340).
14. Install the wheel cover.
Stowing the flat tire
If you are stowing the flat tire, remove theL-shaped bolt from the external pocket ofthe felt bag. With the third row seat in theraised position, stand the flat tire in the rearof the vehicle with the tire’s valve stem facingthe rear of the vehicle. Fasten the flat tire tothe vehicle by inserting the L-shaped boltthrough one of the lug bolt holes in thewheel. Turn it clockwise into the threadedhole in the vehicle until the tire is secured.
If you are stowing the temporary spare tire,place the tire over the jack and secure it withthe large wing nut.
Stowing the jack
1. Fully collapse the jack, fold the lugwrench socket into the handle and placethe jack and wrench into the felt bag asshown. Place the extension bolt orL-shaped bolt into the external pocket ofthe felt bag. Position the jack as shownto make sure that the locating holes inthe jack base can be placed on thelocating tabs of the jack mountingbracket in the spare tire tub.
2.Securely close the wrench compartmentand the jack bag using the Velcro™ straps.
3. Place the jack kit on the angled bracketin the spare tire tub, using the locatingtabs to position the jack correctly.

Privacy Information
When you connect a cellular phone to SYNC3, the system creates a profile within yourvehicle that links to that cellular phone. Thisprofile helps in offering you more cellularfeatures and operating more efficiently.Among other things, this profile may containdata about your cellular phone book, textmessages (read and unread), and call history,including history of calls when your cellphone was not connected to the system. Inaddition, if you connect a media device, thesystem creates and retains an index of
supported media content. The system alsorecords a short diagnostic log ofapproximately 10 minutes of all recent systemactivity. The log profile and other system datamay be used to improve the system and helpdiagnose any problems that may occur.
The cellular profile, media device index, anddiagnostic log remain in your vehicle unlessyou delete them and are generally accessibleonly in your vehicle when the cellular phoneor media player is connected.
If you no longer plan to use the system oryour vehicle, we recommend you perform aMaster Reset to erase all stored information.You can find more information about theMaster Reset in General Settings. SeeSettings (page 436). System data cannot beaccessed without special equipment andaccess to your vehicle's SYNC 3 module. TheLincoln Motor Company does not access thesystem data for any purpose other than asdescribed absent consent, a court order, orwhere required by law enforcement, othergovernment authorities, or other third partiesacting with lawful authority. Other partiesmay seek to access the informationindependently of The Lincoln MotorCompany.
