to replace your vehicle Owner’s Guide
which contains more detailed information
concerning the features of your vehicle, as
well as important safety warnings designed to
help reduce the risk of injury to you and your
passengers. Please read your entire Owner’s
Guide carefully as you begin learning about your new vehicle and refer to the appropriate
sections when questions arise. All information
contained in this Quick Reference Guide was
accurate at the time of duplication. We reserve
the right to change features, operation and/
or functionality of any vehicle specification
at any time. Your Lincoln dealer is the best
source for the most current information. For detailed operating and safety information,
please refer to your Owner’s Guide.

HomeLink® Wireless
Control System (if equipped)
Located on the
driver’s visor,
the HomeLink®
Wireless
Control
System is a convenient way to
replace up to three hand-held
transmitters with a single
built-in device. This system
learns the radio frequency
codes of most transmitters
to operate garage doors,
entry gates, security systems,
entry door locks, and home
or office lighting. Refer
to your Owner’s Guide for
more information, including
programming instructions.
Panoramic Vista Roof™
with Dual Power Sunshades
(if equipped)
To open the
Vista Roof™:
Firmly press
and release the
rear control.
The panoramic roof will open
to the “comfort” position.
Firmly press and release the
control again to fully open.
To stop the one-touch open
feature press any control
again.
To close the Vista Roof™:
Press and release the front
control until the glass panel
stops at the “express close”
position. Firmly press and hold
the control again to fully close.
To vent the Vista Roof™: From
the closed position, press and
release the TILT control. To vent
the panoramic roof from any
position, press and hold the
TILT control. To close, press and
hold the front control.
To operate power
sunshades: Press the OPEN or
CLOSE portion of the control
to operate the sunshades. The
front and rear shades open
simultaneously.
Keyless Entry Keypad
The keyless
entry keypad
located on the
driver’s door
allows you to
lock or unlock the doors, open
the trunk, or recall the driver’s
seat and mirror positions
saved in memory. Refer to
your Owner’s Guide for further
information.
Integrated Keyhead
Transmitter (IKT) and
Remote Entry System
Features
Your vehicle
comes
equipped with
two specially
programmed
Integrated Keyhead Transmitters
(IKTs). IKTs are both a
programmed ignition key
and a remote keyless entry
transmitter. Handle the IKT
carefully when starting the car
to avoid accidentally pressing
any of the remote entry buttons.
Press once to unlock the
driver’s door. The interior lamps
will illuminate.
Press
twice to unlock all
the doors.
Press
once to lock all
the doors and activate the
perimeter alarm system.
Press
twice to confirm
all the doors and liftgate are
closed. The horn will chirp and the turn signal lamps will flash
once if all the doors and the
liftgate are closed.
Press
to activate the panic
alarm. The horn will sound
and the turn lamps will flash.
Press and release
again or
turn the key in the ignition to
deactivate the panic alarm.
Press
twice within three
seconds to activate the car
finder. The horn will chirp
and the turn lamps will flash.
It is recommended that this
method be used to locate your
vehicle, rather than using the
panic alarm.
Press
twice to open the
power liftgate (if equipped).
Ensure that you keep the IKT
adhesive security label in a safe
place for future reference.
Replacement Integrated
Keyhead Transmitters are
only available through
an authorized dealer.
Center Console Storage
The utility
compartment
has a clamshell
tray and
removable
divider for flexible storage
of MP3 players, CDs or
handbags.
Global Open Front Windows
and Vista Roof™
You can open your front
windows and vent the
Vista Roof™ (if equipped)
simultaneously using
your Integrated Keyhead
Transmitter (IKT ). Press and
hold
until the two front
windows and panoramic roof
begin to open. If any other
remote entry transmitter
control is pressed during
the opening operation, both
windows and the panoramic
roof will stop opening.
Adaptive Headlamps
(if equipped)
The headlamp beams move
in the same direction as
the steering wheel, which
provides more visibility
when driving around curves.
The system has a power-up
movement check feature.
When the vehicle is started,
the lamps track left to right,
then back to center to alert
the driver that the system is
working properly.
Memory Feature
The memory feature enables
the vehicle to “remember”
your driver’s seat and exterior
mirrors position. To set,
position the driver’s seat and
exterior mirrors where you
want them. Press SET on the
driver’s door panel. Within
five seconds, press the 1 or 2
control on the driver’s door
panel to associate with the
Driver 1 or Driver 2 position.
Press the SET button again.
Within five seconds, press
any control on the Integrated
Keyhead Transmitter (IKT )
and then press 1 or 2 on the
driver’s door panel to save
the settings under Driver 1
or Driver 2. When you press
on the IKT to get into the
vehicle, the seat and mirrors
will automatically adjust to
your desired positions.
SecuriLock™
The SecuriLock™ passive
anti-theft system is an engine
immobilization system. This system is

designed to help prevent the
engine from being started
unless a coded Integrated
Keyhead Transmitter (IKT )
programmed to your vehicle
is used. Using the wrong
type of coded key may lead
to a “no start” condition. The
anti-theft indicator
in the
instrument cluster will flash
to indicate the SecuriLock™
system is functioning as a
theft deterrent when the
ignition is turned off.
Autolock/Autounlock
Autolock automatically locks
all vehicle doors when all the
doors are closed, the ignition
is in the RUN position, you
shift into any gear that puts
the vehicle into motion,
and the vehicle is moving
above 12 mph (20 km/h).
Autounlock automatically
unlocks all the doors when
the vehicle has been traveling
above 12 mph (20 km/h),
comes to a complete stop,
and the driver door is opened
within 10 minutes of the
ignition being turned to
off or accessory. Note: For
instructions on disabling
autolock, please refer to your
Owner’s Guide or see your
authorized dealer.
Rear Cargo Management
System (if equipped)
The cargo management
system consists of storage
compartments located in the
floor of the rear cargo area. To
open, lift the handle. To close,
lower the lid.
Reverse Sensing System
(if equipped)
The RSS detects obstacles up
to 6 feet (2 meters) from the rear bumper with a decreased
coverage area at the outer
corners of the bumper. As you
move closer to the obstacle,
the rate of the tone increases.
When the obstacle is less than
10 inches (25 cm) away, the
tone will sound continuously.
If the RSS detects a stationary
or receding object further
than 10 inches (25 cm) from
the side of the vehicle, the
tone will sound for only
three seconds. Once the
system detects an object
approaching, the tone will
sound again.
Power Liftgate (if equipped)
To open the power liftgate,
push the button on the
instrument panel, press
remote entry transmitter (IKT )
control twice, or push
the button located above the
liftgate outside handle. For
the best performance allow
the power system to open
the liftgate after pushing the
control. Manually pushing
or pulling the liftgate may
activate the systems obstacle
detection feature and stop
the power system. Do not
open the liftgate in a garage
or other enclosed area with a low ceiling.
To close the
liftgate, press
and release the
control located
in the left rear quarter panel.
Keep clear of the liftgate
when operating the rear
switch. The liftgate can be
reversed with a second press
on a control button or remote
entry transmitter and can be
manually closed at any time.
1 2nd Row Fold Flat Seatback
To fold down the rear seat, pull up on
the lever on the outboard side of the
seat cushion and let the seatback rotate
downward into the load floor position. To
return to the upright position, rotate the
seatback upward until the seatback latches.
The seatback will click when it is locked
into position.
2nd Row Seat Recline
To adjust the second row seatback to the
desired position, while seated, pull the
release lever up and push the seatback
rearward.
2 2nd Row EasyFold™ Seatback Release
The control buttons are located on the
left-hand rear quarter trim panel
(accessible from the liftgate area). Press
and hold the control to lower the seat.
The top portion lowers the right (40%)
seatback, and the bottom portion lowers
the left (60%) seatback.
3 Front Heated and Cooled Seats
To activate these functions, press the
buttons located on the climate control
panel. Press
once for full heat or
once for full cool (three lights), twice for
medium heat or medium cool (two lights)
and a third time for low heat or low cool
(one light).
4 Rear Heated Seats (if equipped)
The rear seat heat controls are located
on the rear door panels. To operate the
heated seats, push the top of the control for
maximum heat, bottom of the control for
minimum heat. Push again to deactivate.
Fuel Type and Tank Capacity
Your front-wheel drive
vehicle’s fuel tank can
accommodate 19.2 gallons
(72.7 L) of gasoline;

all-wheel drive vehicles can
accommodate 20.8 gallons
(78.7 L). Your vehicle is
designed to use unleaded
gasoline with an (R+M)/2
octane rating of 87. Using
gasoline with a lower
octane rating may degrade
performance.
Location of Spare Tire
and Tools
The spare tire and jack are
located in the cargo area
below the carpeted floor
panel. The lug nut wrench
is contained in the tool bag.

the Roadside Emergencies
chapter in your Owner’s Guide.
Fuses
If the vehicle’s electrical
components are not
operating, a fuse may have
blown. The fuse panel is
located below the instrument
panel on the driver’s side;
remove the cover to view
the fuses. Additional fuses
are located in the power
distribution box in the
engine compartment. For
more information regarding
changing fuses, refer to the
Roadside Emergencies chapter
of your Owner’s Guide.
Tire Pressure
Monitoring System
This system monitors tire
pressure on all road tires and
provides the driver with a
yellow warning light when
one or more of your tires is
significantly under-inflated. The Message center provides
additional warning messages.
The TPMS warning light will
reset itself (turn off ) after the
tires are set to specification
and the vehicle is driven above
20 mph (32 km / h) for at least
2 minutes. Note: Outside
temperature affects tire
pressure. Please refer to

your Owner’s Guide.
Tire Pressure
Your vehicle’s tire pressure
specifications are found
on the vehicle’s Safety
Compliance Certification
Label or Tire Label located
on the driver’s door jamb.
Check your tires for proper air
pressure monthly; check the
air pressure in your
spare tire every six months.
Always use an accurate tire
pressure gauge. Check the
tire pressure when tires are
cold, after the vehicle has
been parked for at least three
hours or has been driven
less than three miles. (As you
drive, the temperature in the
tire warms up, increasing the
tire pressure.) Improperly
inflated tires can affect
vehicle handling and can
fail suddenly, resulting in
a possible loss of vehicle
control. Refer to the Tires,
Wheels and Loading chapter
in the Owner’s Guide for
further information.
Fuel Pump Shut-Off Switch
The fuel pump shut-off switch
stops the electric fuel pump
from sending fuel to your
engine when your vehicle has
sustained a substantial jolt.
The switch is located behind
the panel on the left side
of the cargo area. For more
information regarding the fuel pump shut-off switch, refer
to the Roadside Emergencies
chapter of your Owner’s
Guide.
Rear Window Buffeting
When one or both of the
rear windows are open, the
vehicle may demonstrate a
wind throb or buffeting noise;
this noise is common among
a wide range of vehicles and
can be eliminated by simply
lowering a front window
approximately two to three
inches.
Roadside Assistance
During your Lincoln MKX’s
limited warranty period, the
assurance and support of a
24-hour emergency roadside
assistance program is
included. Roadside assistance
includes such services as fuel
delivery, tire changes, jump
starts, winch outs, help when
you are locked out of your
vehicle, and towing.
Complete your roadside
assistance identification
card and keep it handy (such
as in your wallet) for quick
reference. This identification
card is located in your Owner’s
Information portfolio. To
receive roadside assistance in
the United States, call (800)
521-4140. In Canada, call

(800) 665-2006.

13 TEXT/SCAN
In radio mode, when
listening to a RBDS-
equipped station, press
and hold for a brief
sampling of radio stations.
In CD/MP3 mode, press
and release to view the
track title, artist name or
disc title. Press and hold
for a brief sampling of all
tracks on the current disc.
14 SEEK
Press to access the
previous/next strong
station or CD track.
15 SHUFFLE
Press to play all tracks on
the current CD/MP3 disc in
random order.
SATELLITE RADIO
CONTROLS (if equipped):
16 AUX
Press repeatedly to cycle
through FES/DVD (if
equipped), SAT1, SAT2,
SAT3 (satellite radio mode
if equipped) or LINE IN
(auxiliary audio mode).
Press AM/FM to return to
radio mode.
Press MENU when satellite
radio mode is active to
access. Press OK to enter
into the satellite radio
menu. Press
/ to cycle
through the following
options: Category, Save
Song, Delete Song, Delete
All Songs and Enable
Alerts/Disable Alerts. Satellite radio is available
only with a valid SIRIUS
radio subscription. Check
with your authorized
dealer for availability.
17 ON/OFF/VOLUME
Press to turn ON/OFF.
Turn to increase/decrease
volume. If the volume is
set above a certain level
and the ignition is turned
off, the volume will come
back on at a “nominal”
listening level when the
ignition switch is turned
back on.
18 LOAD
Press to load a CD/MP3.
Press Load and a memory
preset to load a specific
slot. Press and hold to auto
load up to six CD/MP3s.
19 PLAY/PAUSE
In CD/MP3 mode, press to
pause the playing media.
CDX PAUSE will appear in
the display. Press again
to return to the playing
media.
OK: Use in various menu
selections. Your vehicle
may be equipped with
SYNC which has special
phone and media features.
For further information,
refer to the SYNC
supplement.
20 MENU
The following is a list
of some of the Menu
features. Press repeatedly
to cycle through:
Autoset – Allows you to
set the strongest local
radio stations without
losing your original stored
stations in AM/FM1/FM2.
Use the
/ buttons
to turn on/off. When the
six strongest stations are
filled, the station stored in
preset 1 will begin playing. If there are less than six
strong stations, the system
will store the last one in
the remaining presets.
Occupancy mode – Use
the
/ buttons to
select and optimize sound
for ALL SEATS, DRIVERS
SEAT or REAR SEATS.
Speed sensitive
volume – Radio volume
automatically changes
slightly with vehicle
speed to compensate
for road and wind noise.
Recommended level is 1-3.
Level 7 is the maximum
setting.
Compression – Brings
soft and loud CD passages
together for a more
consistent listening level
when in CD mode. Press
MENU until compression
status is displayed. Press
/ to turn the feature
on/off.
RBDS (Radio Broadcast
Data System) – In FM
mode, this feature allows
you to search for certain
categories of music or
announcements. For more
information, refer to your
Owner’s Guide.
21 TUNE
Turn to go up/down
the frequency band in
individual increments, or
to advance to the next/
previous MP3 folder.
Your vehicle may be
equipped with SYNC
which has special phone
features. Refer to the SYNC
supplement for further
information. If your vehicle
is not equipped with
SYNC, the display will read
NO PHONE.
1 Headlamps, Fog Lamps and
Panel Dimmer Control
Turn the control
one position to the
right
to turn on
the parking lamps,
instrument panel
lamps, license plate lamps and
tail lamps. Turn the control to the
second position on the right

to turn on the headlamps. Turn
the control one position to the
left
to activate the autolamp
feature, which automatically turns
the exterior lamps on and off,
based on available daylight. The
system also keeps the lights on
for a short time after the ignition
switch is turned to the LOCK (OFF)
position. If the windshield wipers
are turned on for a fixed period of
time, the exterior lamps will turn
on with headlamp control in the
autolamp position.
Pull the control out to activate the
fog lamps. The fog lamp indicator
light will illuminate. The fog
lamps will not operate when the
control is turned off (O) or when
the high beams are on. Use the
panel dimmer control to adjust
the level of brightness on the
instrument panel during parking
lamp and headlamp operation.
Move the control to the full
upright position, past the detent,
to turn on the interior lamps.
2 Steering Wheel Controls
Your steering
wheel controls
allow you to
set and adjust
vehicle speed,
as well as make
adjustments
in your audio
system.
To set the speed control, press
and release ON. Accelerate to the
desired speed. Press and release
SET +. The speed control indicator
light
will illuminate in the
cluster. Remove your foot from
the accelerator. Once set, press
and release - SET + to decrease or increase the speed in small
increments. Or, press and hold
until you reach the desired speed.
To disengage speed control
but not erase the previous set
speed, press the brake pedal. To
disengage and erase the speed,
press OFF or turn off the ignition.
Press – VOL + to decrease/
increase audio volume.
Press MEDIA to select AM, FM1,
FM2 or CD.
Press
to access the
previous/next preset radio station
or CD track.
3 Tilt/Telescopic
Steering Wheel Lever
Pull the lever
down to unlock
the steering
column. Move the
steering wheel
to the desired position. While
holding the steering wheel in
place, pull the lever up to lock the
steering column.
4 Auxiliary Power Points
Your vehicle is
equipped with four
auxiliary power
points. One on the
instrument panel,
one in the center console utility
compartment, one on the back
of the center console and a rear
auxiliary power point located on
the left rear quarter panel. Do
not use power points over the
capacity of 12VDC/180W.
5 Message Center
The message
center displays
important vehicle
information
through a constant
monitoring of vehicle systems.
Also provides vehicle system
checks and will notify you of
potential vehicle problems with
a display of system warnings.
Press INFO to scroll through the
following displays: Odometer,
Trip Odometer A or B, Distance
to Empty, Average Fuel Economy, Average Speed, Compass and Trip
elapsed time 1 or 2. Press RESET

to select and reset functions
shown in the Info and Setup
Menu. Press SETUP to scroll
through: System Check, Units
(English/Metric), Language, Easy
entry/Exit seat (if equipped),
Autolamp, Autolock, Autounlock,
Power Liftgate (if equipped) and
Reverse Sensing System (Park
Assist) (if equipped). For further
information, please refer to your
Owner’s Guide.
6 Transmission Malfunction/
Reduced Power Light

This light illuminates when a power
train or an AWD malfunction has
been detected. Contact an
authorized dealer as soon
as possible.
7 AdvanceTrac® with Roll
Stability Control™ (RSC) Light
This icon illuminates when
the AdvanceTrac® with RSC
system is active. If the light
remains on, a malfunction has
been detected. Have the system
serviced immediately by an
authorized dealer.
8 Service Engine Soon Light
The Service Engine Soon light
illuminates when the engine is
started. If it remains illuminated,
the On Board Diagnostics System
(OBD-II) has detected a malfunction.
If the light is blinking, engine
misfire is occurring which could
damage the vehicle’s catalytic
converter. Drive in a moderate
fashion (avoid heavy acceleration
and deceleration) and have your
vehicle serviced immediately by an
authorized dealer.
9 Airbag Readiness Light
If this light fails to illuminate
after startup, continues to flash
or remains on, a malfunction has
been detected. Have the system
serviced immediately by your authorized
dealer. A chime will sound if a malfunction
in the supplemental restraint system is
detected.
10 ABS Warning Light
If the Anti-lock Brake System light remains
illuminated or continues to flash after
startup, a malfunction has been detected.
Have the system serviced immediately by
your authorized dealer. Normal braking will
still be functional unless the brake warning
light is also illuminated.
11 Check Fuel Cap Light
This light illuminates when the fuel
cap may not be properly installed. If
you continue to drive with this light
illuminated, the Service Engine Soon light
may come on.
12 Brake System Warning Light
This light illuminates briefly to ensure the
system is functional. If the light remains
illuminated after releasing the parking
brake, this indicates a low brake fluid level
or a brake system malfunction. Have the
brake system inspected immediately by an
authorized dealer.
Auxiliary Input Jack
Your vehicle is equipped
with an Auxiliary Input Jack
located inside the console
bin. This allows you to plug
and play auxiliary audio
devices, including MP3 players. Press AUX
repeatedly on your audio system to access.
When LINE IN appears in the display, plug
in your auxiliary audio device. For more
detailed information, please refer to your
Owner’s Guide.
Power Outside Mirrors
Rotate the control clockwise
or counterclockwise to adjust
the right or left mirror. Move
the control in the direction
you wish to tilt the mirror.
Return the control to the center position to
lock the mirrors in place.
1 Auto
Press to activate automatic
temperature control. The
system will automatically
determine fan speed, airflow
location, A/C (on or off ) and
outside or recirculated air based
on your temperature selection.
2 Driver Temperature
Controls
Press to increase/decrease the
temperature on the driver side
of the vehicle in dual zone or
the temperature of both the
driver and passenger sides in
single zone.
3 OFF
Outside air is shut out and the
fan will not operate.
4 A/C
Press to activate/deactivate
air conditioning. For a MAX
A/C setting, press A/C,

and set the temperature to
60ºF (16ºC) and the highest
blower setting.
5 Driver/Passenger
Cooled Seats
Press to activate. Press once
for full cool (three lights),
twice for medium cool (two
lights) and a third time (one
light) for low cool. Press again
to deactivate (no lights).
6 Driver/Passenger
Heated Seats
Press to activate. Press once
for full heat (three lights),
twice for medium heat (two
lights) and a third time (one
light) for low heat. Press again
to deactivate (no lights).
7 EXT
Press to display the outside air
temperature. Press again to
return to interior temperature.
8 Manual Override Controls
Allows you to manually
determine where airflow
is directed (floor vents,
instrument panel vents,
rear seat floor vents or a
combination of all). To return
to fully automatic control,
press AUTO.
9 Recirculation Control
Press to recirculate cabin air.
Recirculated air may reduce
the amount of time to cool
down the interior of the vehicle
and may also help reduce
undesired odors from reaching
the interior of the vehicle.

10 Dual
(Single/dual temperature
control): Allows the driver
to have full control of the
cabin temperature settings
(single zone) or allows the
passenger to have control of
their individual temperature
settings (dual zone control).
Press to turn on dual zone
mode; press again to return
to single zone.
11 Rear Window Defroster
Press to clear the rear window
of thin ice and fog. Press again
to deactivate. The defroster
will turn off automatically after
10 minutes.
12 Defrost
Distributes outside air through
the windshield defroster and
vents to clear fog or thin ice
from the windshield.
THX® II (if equipped)
The THX II certified premium
audio system creates optimal
acoustic quality for all seating
positions and road conditions.
