General Information
WARNING
Failure to follow these guidelines couldresult in an increased risk of loss ofvehicle control, injury or death.
Note:Do not use the kit if you have severelydamaged a tire. Only seal punctures locatedwithin the tire tread with the kit.
Do not attempt to repair punctures largerthan ¼ inch (6 millimeters) or damage to thetire's sidewall. The tire may not completelyseal.
Loss of air pressure may adversely affect tireperformance. For this reason:
Note:Do not drive the vehicle above 50 mph(80 km/h).
Note:Do not drive further than 120 mi(200 km). Drive only to the closest authorizedFord dealer or tire repair shop to have yourtire inspected.
•Drive carefully and avoid abrupt steeringmaneuvers.
•Periodically monitor tire inflation pressurein the affected tire; if the tire is losingpressure, have the vehicle towed.
•Read the information in the Tips for Useof the Kit section to make sure safeoperation of the kit and your vehicle.
Tips for Use of the Kit
To ensure safe operation of the kit:
•Read all instructions and cautions fully.
•Before operating the kit, make sure yourvehicle is safely off the road and awayfrom moving traffic. Switch on the hazardlights.

7. Turn dial (A) clockwise to the sealantposition. Switch the kit on by pressingthe on/off button (B).
8. Inflate the tire to the pressure listed onthe tire label located on the driver's dooror the door jamb area. The initial airpressure gauge reading may indicate avalue higher than the label pressurewhile you pump the sealing compoundinto the tire. This is normal and shouldbe no reason for concern. The pressuregauge reading will indicate the tireinflation pressure after about 30 secondsof operation. You should check the finaltire pressure with the compressor turnedOFF in order to get an accurate pressurereading.
9.When the tire reaches the recommendedtire pressure, switch off the kit, unplugthe power cable, and disconnect thehose from the tire valve. Re-install thevalve cap on the tire valve and return thekit to the stowage area.
10. Immediately and cautiously, drive thevehicle 4 mi (6 km) to distribute thesealant evenly inside the tire. Do notexceed 50 mph (80 km/h).
11. After 4 mi (6 km), stop and check thetire pressure. See Second Stage:Checking Tire Pressure.
Note:If you experience any unusualvibration, ride disturbance or noise whiledriving, reduce your speed until you cansafely pull off to the side of the road to callfor roadside assistance. Note: Do notproceed to the second stage of thisoperation.

Second Stage: Checking Tire Pressure
Note:If you are proceeding from the FirstStage: Re-inflating the Tire with SealingCompound and Air section and have injectedsealant in the tire and the pressure is below20 psi (1.4 bar), continue to the next step.
WARNING
The power plug may get hot after useand should be handled carefully whenunplugging.
Check the air pressure of your tires asfollows:
1.Remove the valve cap from the tire valve.
2. Firmly screw the air compressor hoseonto the valve stem by turning clockwise.
3. Push and turn the dial clockwise to theair position.
4.If required, switch on the compressor andadjust the tire to the recommendedinflation pressure shown on the tire labellocated on the driver's door or door jambarea. You should check the tire pressurewith the compressor turned OFF in orderto get an accurate pressure reading.
5.Unplug the hoses, re-install the valve capon the tire and return the kit to thestowage area.
What to Do After the Tire has BeenSealed
After using the kit to seal your tire, you willneed to replace the sealant canister. Youcan obtain sealant canisters and spare partsat an authorized Ford dealer. You candispose of empty sealant canisters at home.However, you should dispose of canistersstill containing liquid sealant through yourlocal authorized Ford dealer or tire dealer,or in accordance with local waste disposalregulation.
Note:After you use the sealing compound,the maximum vehicle speed is 50 mph(80 km/h) and the maximum driving distanceis 120 mi (200 km). You should inspect thesealed tire immediately.
You can check the tire pressure any timewithin the 120 mi (200 km) by performing thesteps listed previously in the Second Stage:Checking Tire Pressure procedure.

3. Snap the back cover back into place.
4.Wrap the dual purpose hose (black tube)around the channel on the bottom of thehousing/casing.
5.Wrap the power cord around the housingand stow the accessory power plug intoits storage area.
Note:If you experience any difficulties withthe removal or installation of the sealantcanister, consult an authorized Ford dealerfor assistance.
Make sure you check the sealantcompound’s use-by date regularly. Theuse-by date is on a label located on thesealant canister, which you can see throughthe rectangular viewing window on thebottom of the kit. You should replace thesealant canister after four years of non-use.
TIRE CARE
Important Information About Low-Profile Tires
If your vehicle is equipped with265/40R21 tires, they are low-profiletires. These tires and wheels aredesigned to give your vehicle a sportappearance. With low-profile tires, youmay notice an increase in road noiseand faster tire wear, depending on roadconditions and driving styles. Due totheir design, low-profile tires and wheelsare more prone to road damage frompotholes, rough or unpaved roads, carwash rails and curb contact thanstandard tires and wheels.
Note:Your vehicle's warranty does not
cover these types of damages. Extracaution should be taken when operatingon rough roads to avoid impacts thatcould cause wheel and tire damage.

WARNINGS
Do not spin the wheels at over34 mph (55 km/h). The tires mayfail and injure a passenger or bystander.
Driving habits have a great deal to dowith your tire mileage and safety.
*Observe posted speed limits
*Avoid fast starts, stops and turns
*Avoid potholes and objects on the road
*Do not run over curbs or hit the tireagainst a curb when parking
Highway Hazards
No matter how carefully you drivethere’s always the possibility that youmay eventually have a flat tire on thehighway. Drive slowly to the closest safearea out of traffic. This may furtherdamage the flat tire, but your safety ismore important.
If you feel a sudden vibration or ridedisturbance while driving, or you suspectyour tire or vehicle has been damaged,immediately reduce your speed. Drivewith caution until you can safely pull offthe road. Stop and inspect the tires fordamage. If you cannot detect a cause,have the vehicle towed to the nearestrepair facility or tire dealer to have thevehicle inspected.
Tire and Wheel Alignment
A bad jolt from hitting a curb or potholecan cause the front end of your vehicleto become misaligned or cause damageto your tires. If your vehicle seems topull to one side when you’re driving, thewheels may be out of alignment. Havean authorized dealer check the wheelalignment periodically.
Wheel misalignment in the front or therear can cause uneven and rapidtreadwear of your tires and should becorrected by an authorized dealer.Front-wheel drive vehicles and thosewith an independent rear suspensionmay require alignment of all four wheels.
The tires should also be balancedperiodically. An unbalanced tire andwheel assembly may result in irregulartire wear.
Tire Rotation
Note:If your tires show uneven wearask an authorized dealer to check forand correct any wheel misalignment,tire imbalance or mechanical probleminvolved before tire rotation.
Note:Your vehicle may be equippedwith a dissimilar spare wheel and tireassembly. A dissimilar spare wheel andtire assembly is defined as a sparewheel and tire assembly that is differentin brand, size or appearance from theroad tires and wheels. If you have adissimilar spare wheel and tire assemblyit is intended for temporary use only andshould not be used in a tire rotation.
Note:After having your tires rotated,inflation pressure must be checked andadjusted to the vehicle requirements.

Have a flat serviced by an authorized dealerin order to prevent damage to the tirepressure monitoring system sensors. SeeTire Pressure Monitoring System (page 369).Replace the spare tire with a road tire assoon as possible. During repairing orreplacing of the flat tire, have an authorizeddealer inspect the tire pressure monitoringsystem sensor for damage.
Dissimilar Spare Wheel and TireAssembly Information
WARNING
Failure to follow these guidelines couldresult in an increased risk of loss ofvehicle control, injury or death.
If you have a dissimilar spare wheel and tire,then it is intended for temporary use only.This means that if you need to use it, youshould replace it as soon as possible with aroad wheel and tire assembly that is thesame size and type as the road tires andwheels that were originally provided by Ford.If the dissimilar spare tire or wheel isdamaged, it should be replaced rather thanrepaired.
A dissimilar spare wheel and tire assemblyis defined as a spare wheel and tire assemblythat is different in brand, size or appearancefrom the road tires and wheels and can beone of three types:
1. T-type mini-spare: This spare tire beginswith the letter T for tire size and may haveTemporary Use Only molded in the sidewall.
2. Full-size dissimilar spare with label onwheel: This spare tire has a label on thewheel that states: THIS WHEEL AND TIREASSEMBLY FOR TEMPORARY USE ONLY.
When driving with one of the dissimilar sparetires listed above, do not:
•Exceed 50 mph (80 km/h).
•Load the vehicle beyond maximumvehicle load rating listed on the SafetyCompliance Label.
•Tow a trailer.
•Use snow chains on the end of thevehicle with the dissimilar spare tire.
•Use more than one dissimilar spare tireat a time.
•Use commercial car washing equipment.
•Try to repair the dissimilar spare tire.
Use of one of the dissimilar spare tires listedabove at any one wheel location can lead toimpairment of the following:
•Handling, stability and brakingperformance.
•Comfort and noise.
•Ground clearance and parking at curbs.
•Winter weather driving capability.
•Wet weather driving capability.
•All-wheel driving capability (if applicable).
3. Full-size dissimilar spare without labelon wheel

When driving with the full-size dissimilarspare wheel and tire assembly, do not:
•Exceed 70 mph (113 km/h).
•Use more than one dissimilar sparewheel and tire assembly at a time.
•Use commercial car washing equipment.
•Use snow chains on the end of thevehicle with the dissimilar spare wheeland tire assembly.
The usage of a full-size dissimilar sparewheel and tire assembly can lead toimpairment of the following:
•Handling, stability and brakingperformance.
•Comfort and noise.
•Ground clearance and parking at curbs.
•Winter weather driving capability.
•Wet weather driving capability.
•All-wheel driving capability.
When driving with the full-size dissimilarspare wheel and tire assembly additionalcaution should be given to:
•Towing a trailer.
•Driving vehicles equipped with a camperbody.
•Driving vehicles with a load on the cargorack.
Drive cautiously when using a full-sizedissimilar spare wheel and tire assembly andseek service as soon as possible.
Tire Change Procedure
WARNINGS
When one of the front wheels is off theground, the transmission alone will notprevent the vehicle from moving or slippingoff the jack, even if the transmission is in park(P).
WARNINGS
To help prevent your vehicle frommoving when changing a wheel, shiftthe transmission into park (P), set the parkingbrake and use an appropriate block or wheelchock to secure the wheel diagonallyopposite to the wheel being changed. Forexample, when changing the front left wheel,place an appropriate block or wheel chockon the right rear wheel.
No person should place any portion oftheir body under a vehicle that issupported by a jack.
Do not attempt to change a tire on theside of the vehicle close to movingtraffic. Pull far enough off the road to avoidthe danger of being hit when operating thejack or changing the wheel.
Always use the jack provided asoriginal equipment with your vehicle.If using a jack other than the one provided,make sure the jack capacity is adequate forthe vehicle weight, including any vehiclecargo or modifications. If you are unsure ifthe jack capacity is adequate, contact theauthorized dealer.

11.Replace the flat tire with the spare tire,making sure the valve stem is facingoutward. Reinstall the lug nuts until thewheel is snug against the hub. Do notfully tighten the lug nuts until the wheelhas been lowered.
12. Lower the wheel by turning the jackhandle counterclockwise.
13. Remove the jack and fully tighten thelug nuts in the order shown. SeeTechnical Specifications (page 379).
14. Fold up the wrench/jack handle andre-attach to the jack. Re-positionjack/wrench assembly into the originalvehicle position and secure with theplastic wing nut. Make sure the jack isfastened securely before you drive.
15. Unblock the wheel.
Stowing the flat tire
You cannot store the full-sized road wheelin the temporary spare tire well.
1. Find the flat tire retainer strap tuckedinside the jack channel. Lower thecarpeted load floor.
2.Stow the flat tire in the cargo area on theload floor with the wheel facing up.Secure the flat tire with the retainer strapby following the next steps.
3. Locate the rear left side and right sidecargo tie-down rings. Push the loop endof the retainer strap through one cargotie-down ring. Thread the non-loop endthrough the loop.
4. Weave the retainer strap through thewheel openings.
5.Locate the cargo tie-down in the oppositerear corner of the cargo area. Thread theretainer strap though the tie-down andpull tight.

Note:Do not use any irregularly shapeddiscs or discs with a scratch protection filmattached.
