GENERAL INFORMATION
WARNING
Driving while distracted can result inloss of vehicle control, crash and injury.We strongly recommend that you useextreme caution when using any device thatmay take your focus off the road. Yourprimary responsibility is the safe operationof your vehicle. We recommend against theuse of any hand-held device while drivingand encourage the use of voice-operatedsystems when possible. Make sure you areaware of all applicable local laws that mayaffect the use of electronic devices whiledriving.
You can control various systems on yourvehicle using the information display controlson the steering wheel. The informationdisplay shows the corresponding information.
Information Display Controls
•Press the up and down arrow buttons toscroll through and highlight the optionswithin a menu.
•Press the right arrow button to enter asub-menu.
•Press the left arrow button to exit a menu.
•Press and hold the left arrow button atany time to return to the main menudisplay (escape button).
•Press the OK button to choose andconfirm settings or messages.
This icon gives you the ability toswitch a feature on or off. A checkin the box indicates the feature isenabled, and unchecked indicates thefeature is disabled.
Main menu
From the main menu bar on the left side ofthe information display, you can choose fromthe following categories:
•Trip 1 & 2
•Fuel Economy
•Driver Assist
•Settings
Scroll up or down to highlight one of thecategories and then press the right arrowkey or OK to enter into that category. Pressthe left arrow key as needed to exit back tothe main menu.

Note:Do not remove ice from the mirrorswith a scraper or adjust the mirror glasswhen it is frozen in place.
Note:Do not clean the mirror housing orglass with harsh abrasives, fuel or otherpetroleum-based cleaning products.
Windshield Wiper De-icer (If Equipped)
When you switch the heated rear windowon, the windshield wiper de-icer turns on.
CABIN AIR FILTER
Your vehicle is equipped with a cabin airfilter, which gives you and your passengersthe following benefits:
•It improves your driving comfort byreducing particle and odor concentration.
•It improves the interior compartmentcleanliness.
•It protects the climate controlcomponents from particle deposits.
You can locate the cabin air filter behind theglove box.
Note:Make sure you have a cabin air filterinstalled at all times. This prevents foreignobjects from entering the system. Runningthe system without a filter in place couldresult in degradation or damage to thesystem.
Replace the filter at regular intervals.
For additional cabin air filter information, orto replace the filter, see a qualifiedtechnician.
REMOTE START
The system adjusts the interior temperaturedepending on your chosen settings duringremote start.
You cannot adjust the climate control settingduring remote start operation. When youswitch the ignition on, the climate controlsystem returns to the previous settings. Youcan now make adjustments.
Some features may remain on if they turn onduring remote start:
•Driver heated seat.
•Driver ventilated seat.
•Heated steering wheel.
•Heated mirrors.
•Heated rear window.
•Windshield wiper de-icer.
Note:If the passenger heated or ventilatedseats are on when you switch the vehicleoff, they default to the driver setting whenyou switch the vehicle on.
You can adjust the default remote startsettings using the information displaycontrols. See Information Displays (page111).
Automatic Settings
In hot weather, the system sets to 72°F(22°C). The ventilated seats set to high (ifavailable, and if you select AUTO in theinformation display).
In moderate weather, the system heats orcools (based on pre-selected settings). Therear defroster, heated mirrors and heated orventilated seats do not turn on.

Climate Control

Within 20 seconds of switching the engineoff, press the brake pedal and press thebutton. After 20 seconds have expired, youcan no longer restart the engine without thekey present inside your vehicle.
Once the engine has started, it remainsrunning until you press the button, even ifthe system does not detect a valid key. If youopen and close a door while the engine isrunning, the system searches for a valid key.You cannot restart the engine if the systemdoes not detect a valid key within 20seconds.
Failure to Start
If you cannot start the engine after threeattempts, wait 10 seconds and follow thisprocedure:
1. Fully press the brake pedal.
2. Fully press the accelerator pedal andhold it there.
3. Start the engine.
Note: You can crank the engine for a totalof 60 seconds without the engine startingbefore the starting system temporarilydisables. The 60 seconds does not have tobe all at once. For example, if you crank theengine three times for 20 seconds each time,without the engine starting, you reached the60-second time limit. A message appearsin the information display alerting you thatyou exceeded the cranking time. Youcannot attempt to start the engine for atleast 15 minutes.
Note: After 15 minutes, you are limited to a15-second engine cranking time. You needto wait 60 minutes before you can crank theengine for 60 seconds again.
Automatic Engine Shutdown
If your vehicle is equipped with a keylessignition, it has a feature that automaticallyshuts down the engine if it has been idlingfor an extended period. The ignition alsoturns off in order to save battery power.Before the engine shuts down, a messageappears in the information display showinga timer counting down from 30 seconds. If
you do not intervene within 30 seconds, theengine shuts down. Another messageappears in the information display to informyou that the engine has shut down in orderto save fuel. Start your vehicle as younormally do.
Automatic Engine Shutdown Override
Note:You cannot permanently switch off theautomatic engine shutdown feature. Whenyou switch it off temporarily, it turns on atthe next ignition cycle.
You can stop the engine shutdown, or resetthe timer, at any point before the 30-secondcountdown has expired by doing any of thefollowing:

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
WARNINGS
Do not overfill the fuel tank. Thepressure in an overfilled tank maycause leakage and lead to fuel spray andfire.
The fuel system may be underpressure. If you hear a hissing soundnear the fuel filler inlet, do not refuel until thesound stops. Otherwise, fuel may spray out,which could cause serious personal injury.
Fuels can cause serious injury or deathif misused or mishandled.
Fuel may contain benzene, which is acancer-causing agent.
When refueling always shut the engineoff and never allow sparks or openflames near the fuel tank filler valve. Neversmoke or use a cell phone while refueling.Fuel vapor is extremely hazardous undercertain conditions. Avoid inhaling excessfumes.
Follow these guidelines when refueling:
•Extinguish all smoking materials and anyopen flames before refueling yourvehicle.
•Always switch the engine off beforerefueling.
•Automotive fuels can be harmful or fatalif swallowed. Fuel is highly toxic and ifswallowed can cause death or permanentinjury. If fuel is swallowed immediatelycall a physician, even if no symptoms areimmediately apparent. The toxic effectsof fuel may not be apparent for hours.
•Avoid inhaling fuel vapors. Inhaling fuelvapor can lead to eye and respiratorytract irritation. In severe cases, excessiveor prolonged breathing of fuel vapor cancause serious illness and permanentinjury.
•Avoid getting fuel in your eyes. If yousplash fuel in your eyes, immediatelyremove contact lenses (if worn), flush withwater for 15 minutes and seek medicalattention. Failure to seek proper medicalattention could lead to permanent injury.
•Fuels can be harmful if absorbed throughthe skin. If you splash fuel on your skin,clothing or both, promptly removecontaminated clothing and thoroughlywash your skin with soap and water.Repeated or prolonged skin contactcauses skin irritation.
•Be particularly careful if you are takingAntabuse or other forms of Disulfiram forthe treatment of alcoholism. Breathingfuel vapors could cause an adversereaction, serious personal injury orsickness. Immediately call a physician ifyou experience any adverse reactions.
FUEL QUALITY
Choosing the Right Fuel

We recommend regular unleaded gasolinewith a minimum pump (R+M)/2 octane ratingof 87. Some stations offer fuels posted asregular with an octane rating below 87,particularly in high altitude areas. We do notrecommend fuels with an octane ratingbelow 87. To provide improved performance,we recommend premium fuel for severe dutyusage such as trailer tow.
Do not use any fuel other than thoserecommended because they could lead toengine damage that may not be covered bythe vehicle Warranty.
Note:Use of any fuel other than thoserecommended can impair the emissioncontrol system and cause a loss of vehicleperformance.
Do not use:
•Diesel fuel.
•Fuels containing kerosene or paraffin.
•Fuel containing more than 15% ethanolor E85 fuel.
•Fuels containing methanol.
•Fuels containing metallic-based additives,including manganese-based compounds.
•Fuels containing the octane boosteradditive, methylcyclopentadienylmanganese tricarbonyl (MMT).
•Leaded fuel (using leaded fuel isprohibited by law).
The use of fuels with metallic compoundssuch as methylcyclopentadienyl manganesetricarbonyl (commonly known as MMT), whichis a manganese-based fuel additive, willimpair engine performance and affect theemission control system.
Do not be concerned if the enginesometimes knocks lightly. However, if theengine knocks heavily while using fuel withthe recommended octane rating, contact anauthorized dealer to prevent any enginedamage.
FUEL FILLER FUNNEL LOCATION
The fuel filler funnel is under the luggagecompartment floor covering.RUNNING OUT OF FUEL
Running out of fuel can cause damage notcovered by the vehicle Warranty.

If your vehicle runs out of fuel:
•Add a minimum of 1.3 gal (5 L) of fuel torestart the engine.
•You may need to switch the ignition fromoff to on several times after refueling toallow the fuel system to pump the fuelfrom the tank to the engine. Whenrestarting, cranking time takes a fewseconds longer than normal.
Note:If your vehicle is on a steep slope,more fuel may be required.
Filling a Portable Fuel Container
WARNING
Flow of fuel through a fuel pump nozzlecan produce static electricity. This cancause a fire if you are filling an ungroundedfuel container.
Use the following guidelines to avoidelectrostatic charge build-up, which canproduce a spark, when filling an ungroundedfuel container:
•Only use an approved fuel container totransfer fuel to your vehicle. Place thecontainer on the ground when filling it.
•Do not fill a fuel container when it isinside your vehicle (including the cargoarea).
•Keep the fuel pump nozzle in contactwith the fuel container when filling it.
•Do not use a device that holds the fuelpump nozzle lever in the fill position.
Adding Fuel From a Portable FuelContainer
WARNINGS
Do not insert the nozzle of a fuelcontainer or an aftermarket funnel intothe fuel filler neck. This may damage the fuelsystem filler neck or its seal and cause fuelto run onto the ground.
WARNINGS
Do not try to pry open or push openthe capless fuel system with foreignobjects. This could damage the fuel systemand its seal and cause injury to you or others.
Do not dispose of fuel in the householdrefuse or the public sewage system.Use an authorized waste disposal facility.
When refueling the vehicle fuel tank from afuel container, use the fuel filler funnelincluded with your vehicle. See Fuel FillerFunnel Location (page 169).
Note:Do not use aftermarket funnels as theymay not work with the capless fuel systemand can damage it.
When refueling the vehicle fuel tank from afuel container, do the following:
1. Fully open the fuel filler door.
2. Fully insert the fuel filler funnel into thefuel filler inlet.

3. Add fuel to your vehicle from the fuelcontainer.
4. Remove the fuel filler funnel.
5. Fully close the fuel filler door.
6. Clean the fuel filler funnel and place itback in your vehicle or correctly disposeof it.
Note:Extra funnels can be purchased froman authorized dealer if you choose todispose of the funnel.
REFUELING
WARNINGS

WARNINGS
Stop refueling when the fuel pumpnozzle automatically shuts off for thefirst time. Failure to follow this will fill theexpansion space in the fuel tank and couldlead to fuel overflowing.
Wait at least 10 seconds beforeremoving the fuel pump nozzle to allowany residual fuel to drain into the fuel tank.
Do not try to pry open or push openthe capless fuel system with foreignobjects. This could damage the fuel systemand its seal and cause injury to you or others.
Note:Your vehicle does not have a fuel fillercap.
