Axle and PTU maintenance: The PowerTransfer Unit (PTU) and rear axle (AWD only)in your vehicle does not require any normalscheduled maintenance. The PTU lubricantmay be more likely to require a fluid changeif the vehicle has extended periods ofextreme or severe duty cycle driving.Changing or checking the PTU lubricant isnot necessary unless the unit has beensubmerged in water, shows sign of leakage.Contact your authorized dealer for service.
California fuel filter replacement: If youregister your vehicle in California, theCalifornia Air Resources Board hasdetermined that the failure to perform thismaintenance item does not nullify theemission warranty or limit recall liabilitybefore the completion of your vehicle'suseful life. We however, urge you to have allrecommended maintenance servicesperformed at the specified intervals and torecord all vehicle service.
Engine air filter and cabin air filterreplacement: The life of the engine air filterand cabin air filter is dependent on exposureto dusty and dirty conditions. Vehiclesoperated in these conditions require frequentinspection and replacement of the engineair filter and cabin air filter.

PERCHLORATE
Certain components in your vehicle such asairbag modules, seatbelt pretensioners andremote control batteries may containperchlorate material. Special handling mayapply for service or vehicle end of lifedisposal.

RECOMMENDATION
We have built your vehicle to the higheststandards using quality parts. Werecommend that you demand the use ofgenuine Ford and Motorcraft parts wheneveryour vehicle requires scheduledmaintenance or repair. You can clearlyidentify genuine Ford and Motorcraft partsby looking for the Ford, FoMoCo orMotorcraft branding on the parts or theirpackaging.
Scheduled Maintenance andMechanical Repairs
One of the best ways for you to make surethat your vehicle provides years of serviceis to have it maintained in line with ourrecommendations using parts that conformto the specifications detailed in this Owner’sManual.
Genuine Ford and Motorcraft parts meet orexceed these specifications.
Collision Repairs
We hope that you never experience acollision, but accidents happen sometimes.
Genuine Ford replacement collision partsmeet our stringent requirements for fit, finish,structural integrity, corrosion protection anddent resistance. During vehicle developmentwe validate that these parts deliver theintended level of protection as a wholesystem. A great way to know for sure youare getting this level of protection is to usegenuine Ford replacement collision parts.
Warranty on Replacement Parts
Genuine Ford and Motorcraft replacementparts are the only replacement parts thatbenefit from a Ford Warranty.
The Ford Warranty may not cover damagecaused to your vehicle as a result of failednon-Ford parts.

We will use reasonable endeavors to providethe SUNA Traffic Channel 24 hours a day,365 days a year. The SUNA Traffic Channelmay occasionally be unavailable for technicalreasons or for planned maintenance. We willtry to perform maintenance at times whencongestion is light. We reserve the right towithdraw SUNA Products and/or Services atany time.
Also, we cannot assure the uninterruptedreception of the SUNA Traffic ChannelRDS-TMC signal at any particular location.
6. Limitation of Liability
Neither Intelematics (nor its suppliers or themanufacturer of your device (the“Suppliers”)) shall be liable to you or to anythird party for any damages either direct,indirect, incidental, consequential orotherwise arising out of the use of or inabilityto use SUNA Products and/or Services evenif Intelematics or a Supplier has been advisedof the possibility of such damages. EMISSION LAW
WARNING: Do not remove or alterthe original equipment floor covering orinsulation between it and the metal floorof the vehicle. The floor covering andinsulation protect occupants of the vehiclefrom the engine and exhaust system heat
and noise. On vehicles with no originalequipment floor covering insulation, do notcarry passengers in a manner that permitsprolonged skin contact with the metal floor.Failure to follow these instructions mayresult in fire or personal injury.
U.S. federal laws and certain state lawsprohibit removing or rendering inoperativeemission control system components. Similarfederal or provincial laws may apply inCanada. We do not approve of any vehiclemodification without first determiningapplicable laws.
Tampering with emissions controlsystems including related sensorsor the Diesel Exhaust Fluid systemcan result in reduced engine power and theillumination of the service engine soon light.

Tampering With a Noise ControlSystem
Federal laws prohibit the following acts:
•Removal or rendering inoperative by anyperson other than for purposes ofmaintenance.
•Repair or replacement of any device orelement of the design incorporated intoa new vehicle for the purpose of noisecontrol prior to its sale or delivery to theultimate purchaser or while it is in use.
•The use of the vehicle after any personremoves or renders inoperative anydevice or element of the design.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agencymay presume to constitute tampering asfollows:
•Removal of hood blanket, fender apronabsorbers, fender apron barriers,underbody noise shields or acousticallyabsorptive material.
•Tampering or rendering inoperative theengine speed governor, to allow enginespeed to exceed manufacturerspecifications.
If the engine does not start, runs rough,experiences a decrease in engineperformance, experiences excess fuelconsumption or produces excessive exhaustsmoke, check for the following:
•A plugged or disconnected air inletsystem hose.
•A plugged engine air filter element.
•Water in the fuel filter and waterseparator.
•A clogged fuel filter.
•Contaminated fuel.
•Air in the fuel system, due to looseconnections.
•An open or pinched sensor hose.
•Incorrect engine oil level.
•Incorrect fuel for climatic conditions.
•Incorrect engine oil viscosity for climacticconditions.
Note:Some vehicles have a lifetime fuel filterthat is integrated with the fuel tank. Regularmaintenance or replacement is not needed.
Note:If these checks do not help you correctthe concern, have your vehicle checked assoon as possible.
Noise Emissions Warranty, ProhibitedTampering Acts and Maintenance
On January 1, 1978, Federal regulationbecame effective governing the noiseemission on trucks over 10,000 lb (4,536 kg)Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR). Thepreceding statements concerning prohibitedtampering acts and maintenance, and thenoise warranty found in the Warranty Guide,are applicable to complete chassis cabs over10,000 lb (4,536 kg) GVWR.

CALIFORNIA EMISSION CONTROLWARRANTY STATEMENT
YOUR WARRANTY RIGHTS ANDOBLIGATIONS
The California Air Resources Board and FordMotor Company are pleased to explain theemission control system warranty on your(year) vehicle. In California, new motorvehicles must be designated, built andequipped to meet the State's stringent
anti-smog standards. Ford Motor Companymust warrant the emission control system onyour vehicle for the periods of time listedbelow provided there has been no abuse,neglect or improper maintenance of yourvehicle.
Your emission control system may includeparts such as the carburetor or fuel-injectionsystem, the ignition system, catalyticconverter and engine computer. Alsoincluded may be hoses, belts, connectorsand other emission-related assemblies.Where a warrantable condition exists, FordMotor Company will repair your vehicle atno cost to you including diagnosis, parts andlabor.
MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTYCOVERAGE:
(For 1990 and subsequent model passengercars, light-duty trucks, and medium-dutyvehicles.)
- For 3 years or 50,000 miles (whicheveroccurs first);
1) If your vehicle fails a Smog Checkinspection, all necessary repairs andadjustments will be made by Ford MotorCompany to ensure that your emissioncontrol system PERFORMANCE WARRANTY.
2) If any emission-related part on your vehicleis defective, the part will be repaired orreplaced by Ford Motor Company. This isyour short-term emission control systemDEFECTS WARRANTY.
- For 7 years or 70,000 miles (whicheveroccurs first);
1) If an emission-related part listed in thiswarranty booklet specially noted withcoverage for 7 years or 70,000 miles isdefective, the part will be repaired orreplaced by Ford Motor Company. This isyour long-term emission control systemDEFECTS WARRANTY.

OWNER'S WARRANTY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- As the vehicle owner, you are responsiblefor the performance of the requiredmaintenance listed in your owner's manual.Ford Motor Company recommends that youretain all receipts covering maintenance onyour vehicle, but Ford Motor Companycannot deny warranty solely for the lack ofreceipts or for your failure to ensure theperformance of all scheduled maintenance.
- You are responsible for presenting yourvehicle to a Ford or Lincoln dealer as soonas a problem exists. The warranty repairsshould be completed in a reasonable amountof time, not to exceed 30 days.
- As the vehicle owner, you should also beaware that Ford Motor Company may denyyou warranty coverage if your vehicle or apart has failed due to abuse, neglect,improper maintenance or unapprovedmodifications.
