911 Assist May Not Work If
•Your cellular phone or 911 Assisthardware sustains damage in a crash.

911 Assist Privacy Notice
When you switch on 911 Assist, it maydisclose to emergency services that yourvehicle has been in a crash involving thedeployment of an airbag or activation of thefuel pump shut-off. Certain versions orupdates to 911 Assist may also be capableof electronically or verbally disclosing to 911operators your vehicle location or otherdetails about your vehicle or crash to assist911 operators to provide the most appropriateemergency services. If you do not want todisclose this information, do not switch thefeature on.
Safety Information

Your primary responsibility is the safeoperation of your vehicle. •For your safety, some SYNC 3 functionsare speed-dependent. Their use is limitedto when your vehicle is traveling atspeeds under 3 mph (5 km/h). Make surethat you review your device's manualbefore using it with SYNC 3.

Updating Your System
You can choose to download the updateonto a USB drive or use Wi-Fi to deliverautomatic updates.

To use the USB update you need to log intoyour owner account and visit the SYNCsoftware update page.

You will need an empty USB drive. Pleasecheck the website for minimumrequirements. Once you have inserted theUSB drive into your computer, choose to startthe download. Follow the instructionsprovided to download the files to the USBdrive.
The installation of most files occurs in thebackground, and does not interrupt your useof the system. Navigation updates cannot beinstalled in the background, because the filesare too large.

AM/FM Radio
Tuning a Station
You can use the tune or seek controls on theradio bezel to select a station.
To tune a station using the touchscreen,select:

Direct Tune
A pop up appears, allowing you to type inthe frequency of a station. You can only entera valid station for the source you arecurrently listening to.
You can press the backspace button todelete the previously entered number.
Once you have entered the station's callnumbers, you can select:

Presets
To set a new preset, tune to the station andthen press and hold one of the memorypreset buttons. The audio mutes briefly whilethe system saves the station and thenreturns.
There are two preset banks available for AMand three banks for FM. To access additionalpresets, tap the preset button. The indicatoron the preset button shows which bank ofpresets you are currently viewing.
SiriusXM® Satellite Radio (If Activated)
Note: This feature may not be available inall markets and requires an activesubscription.
SiriusXM satellite radio is asubscription-based satellite radio service thatbroadcasts a variety of music, sports, news,weather, traffic and entertainmentprogramming. SiriusXM Traffic and Travel Link is availableon vehicles equipped with navigation andonly in select markets. You must activate andsubscribe to receive SiriusXM Traffic andTravel Link information. It helps you locatethe best gas prices, find movie listings, getcurrent traffic alerts, view the weather map,get accurate ski conditions and see currentsports scores. See Apps (page 507).
The system calculates a reasonable efficientroute based on available speed limits, traffic,and road conditions. You may know a localshort cut that is more efficient at a given timethan the route provided by SYNC 3, but youshould expect a slight difference in minutesor miles with the SYNC 3 route.

The system enables voice, steering wheel,and touch screen control of SYNC 3 AppLinkenabled smartphone apps. When an app isrunning through AppLink, you can controlmain features of the app through voicecommands and steering wheel controls. Find Mobile Apps
Enabling SYNC 3 Mobile Apps
In order to enable mobile apps, SYNC 3requires user consent to send and receiveapp authorization information and updatesusing the data plan associated with theconnected device.
The connected device sends data to Ford inthe United States. The information isencrypted and includes your VIN, SYNC 3module number, odometer, usage statisticsand debugging information. We retain thisdata for only as long as necessary to providethis service, troubleshoot, and improveproducts and services and to offer youproducts and services that may interest youwhere allowed by law.
Note:You must enable mobile apps for eachconnected device the first time you select amobile app using the system.
Note:Ford reserves the right to limitfunctionality or deactivate mobile apps atany time.
Note:Standard data rates apply. Ford is notresponsible for any additional charges youmay receive from your service provider,when your vehicle sends or receives datathrough the connected device. This includesany additional charges incurred due todriving in areas when roaming out of a homenetwork.
You can enable and disable apps throughsettings. See Settings (page 510).
App Permissions
The system organizes the app permissionsinto groups. You can grant these grouppermissions individually. You can change apermission group status any time when notdriving, by using the settings menu. While inthe settings menu, you can also see the dataincluded in each group.
When you launch an app using SYNC 3, thesystem may ask you to grant certainpermissions, for example Vehicle information,Driving characteristics, GPS and Speed,and/or Push notifications. You can enable allgroups or none of them during the initial apppermissions prompts. The settings menuoffers individual group permission control.
Note:You are only prompted to grantpermissions the first time you use an appwith SYNC 3.
Note:If you disable group permissions, appswill still be enabled to work with SYNC 3unless you deactivate All Apps in the settingsmenu.
