Status Bar
Displays distance to empty (DTE), time andoutside air temperature. Next to DTE, thefuel gauge fill color changes to yellow in lowfuel conditions. You can switch off the statusbar in the HUD settings menu.
Speedometer Display Area
Displays current vehicle speed, speed limit(if available in the map database) and yourtransmission gear selection.
Configuring The Head Up Display
You can control the system's options throughthe information display by using the HUD,OK and arrow buttons on the right-hand sideof your steering wheel. See GeneralInformation (page 120). You can adjust thedisplay according to your height to makeviewing the content easier. You can alsoadjust what content displays and thebrightness of the content. The system'soptions appear in the instrument clusterwhile the updates happen in the HUD.
Note:If HUD On is unchecked, other optionsof the system are hidden.
Note:The HUD menu automatically closesafter a certain period of inactivity.
Note:The HUD image brightnessautomatically adjusts to the brightness ofthe ambient environment. You have theability to adjust the brightness furtheraccording to your preference.
Note:In some instances, sunlight can causesome reflections in and around the HUDimage.

Maintaining Your Head Up Display
•Do not place objects onto the transparentcover, as they may block you from seeingportions of the image. These objectscould also damage the cover and affectthe quality of the projected image.
•The system uses a special windshielddesigned to provide the optimum imagequality. You must replace the windshieldin a vehicle with this system with acertified original equipmentmanufactured (OEM) head up displaywindshield. Replacing this system'swindshield with a non-head up displaywindshield causes a double image ordistorted image. Have an authorizeddealer or authorized repair facility replacethe windshield.
•Light conditions such as oncomingheadlamps, sunrise, sunset or reflectionsoff of wet road surfaces can affect thedriver's ability to see the HUD image.
•Clean the windshield often for optimalHUD performance. See Cleaning theWindows and Wiper Blades (page 381).

SITTING IN THE CORRECT
POSITION
WARNING: Sitting improperly, out ofposition or with the seatback reclined toofar can take weight off the seat cushionand affect the decision of the passengersensing system, resulting in serious injuryor death in the event of a crash. Always situpright against your seat back, with yourfeet on the floor.
WARNING: Do not recline theseatback too far as this can cause theoccupant to slide under the seatbelt,resulting in serious injury in the event of acollision.
WARNING: Do not place objectshigher than the top of the seat backrest.Failure to follow this instruction could resultin personal injury or death in the event ofa sudden stop or crash.
When you use them properly, the seat, headrestraint, seatbelt and airbags will provideoptimum protection in the event of a crash.
We recommend that you follow theseguidelines:
•Sit in an upright position with the base ofyour spine as far back as possible.
•Do not recline the seat backrest so thatyour torso is more than 30° from theupright position.
•Adjust the head restraint so that the topof it is level with the top of your head andas far forward as possible. Make sure thatyou remain comfortable.
•Keep sufficient distance betweenyourself and the steering wheel. Werecommend a minimum of 10 in (25 cm)between your breastbone and the airbagcover.
•Hold the steering wheel with your armsslightly bent.
•Bend your legs slightly so that you canpress the pedals fully.
•Position the shoulder strap of the seatbeltover the center of your shoulder andposition the lap strap tightly across yourhips.
Make sure that your driving position iscomfortable and that you can maintain fullcontrol of your vehicle.

Rear Seats
WARNING: Persons who are unableto feel pain to the skin because ofadvanced age, chronic illness, diabetes,spinal cord injury, medication, alcohol use,exhaustion, or other physical conditions,must exercise care when using the seatheater. The seat heater may cause burnseven at low temperatures, especially ifused for long periods of time. Do not placeanything on the seat that insulates againstheat, such as a blanket or cushion,because this may cause the seat heater tooverheat. Do not puncture the seat withpins, needles, or other pointed objectsbecause this may damage the heatingelement which may cause the seat heaterto overheat. An overheated seat maycause serious personal injury.

The heated seat module resets at everyignition run cycle. While the ignition is on,press the high or low heated seat switch toenable heating mode. When activated, theywill turn off automatically when you turn theengine off.

Heated Seats

•Spill liquid on the front seats. This maycause the air vent holes to becomeblocked and not work properly.
•Place cargo or objects under the seats.They may block the air intake causingthe air vents to not work properly.
The ventilated seats only function when theengine is running.
Press this symbol to cycle through thevarious ventilation settings and off. Moreindicator lights indicate higher fan speeds.
If the engine falls below 350 RPM while theventilated seats are on, the feature turnsitself off. You need to reactivate it.
Note:To improve comfort, use the ventilatedseats along with the vehicle’s airconditioning system.

HomeLink Wireless Control System
WARNING: Make sure that thegarage door and security device are freefrom obstruction when you areprogramming. Do not program the systemwith the vehicle in the garage.
WARNING: Do not use the systemwith any garage door opener that does nothave the safety stop and reverse featureas required by U.S. Federal SafetyStandards (this includes any garage dooropener manufactured before April 1, 1982).A garage door opener which cannot detectan object, signaling the door to stop andreverse, does not meet current federalsafety standards. Using a garage dooropener without these features increasesthe risk of serious injury or death.
Note:Make sure you keep the originalremote control transmitter for use in othervehicles as well as for future systemprogramming.
Note:We recommend that upon the sale orlease termination of your vehicle, you erasethe programmed function buttons for securityreasons. See Erasing the Function ButtonCodes later in this section.
Note:You can program a maximum of threedevices. To change or replace any of thethree devices after it has been initiallyprogrammed, you must first erase the currentsettings. See Erasing the Function ButtonCodes.
The universal garage door opener replacesthe common hand-held garage door openerwith a three-button transmitter integratedinto the driver’s sun visor.
The system includes two primary features, agarage door opener and a platform forremote activation of devices within the home.You can program garage doors as well asentry gate operators, security systems, entrydoor locks and home or office lighting.

In-Vehicle Programming
This process is to program your in-vehicleHomeLink function button with yourhand-held transmitter.
Note:The programming steps below assumeyou will be programming HomeLink that wasnot previously programmed. If yourHomeLink was previously programmed, youmay need to erase your HomeLink buttons.See Erasing the Function Button Codes.

Note:Put a new battery in the hand-heldtransmitter. This helps ensure quickertraining and accurate transmission of theradio-frequency signal.
1. With your vehicle parked outside of thegarage, switch your ignition to the onposition, but do not start your vehicle.
2. Press and release the function buttonthat you would like to program.
3. Hold your hand-held garage doortransmitter 1–3 in (2–8 cm) away from theHomeLink button you want to program.
4.Press and hold the hand-held transmitterbutton you want to program whilewatching the indicator light on HomeLink.Continue to hold the hand-held buttonuntil the HomeLink indicator light flashesrapidly or is continuously on.
Note:You may need to use a differentmethod if you live in Canada or havedifficulties programming your gate operatoror garage door opener. See Gate Operator/ Canadian Programming.
5.Press and hold the HomeLink button youprogrammed for two seconds, thenrelease. You may need to do this twiceto activate the door. If your garage doordoes not operate, watch the HomeLinkindicator light.
If the indicator light stays on, theprogramming is complete. Your deviceshould activate when the HomeLink buttonis pressed and released.
If the indicator light flashes rapidly, press andhold for two seconds and release theprogrammed HomeLink button. Repeat the"press/hold/release" sequence up to threetimes to complete the programming process.If your device still does not operate, you mustprogram your garage door. SeeProgramming Your Garage Door OpenerMotor.
