CAUTION
The parking sensor detection range has limitations. For example, obstructions
closing in from the side and objects short in height may not be detected. Always
con firm the safety around the vehicle visually when driving.
For details, refer to the parking sens or obstruction detection indication and
warning sound.

 Do not turn the steering wheel any mo re until the vehicle has passed the
obstruction, even if the obstruction is no t visible on the side view image. If the
steering wheel is turned even more, the ve hicle may contact the obstruction if it is
turned sharply.
NOTE
Because there might be a diff erence between the image displayed on the screen
and the actual conditions, always check th e safety of the surrounding area using
the mirrors and directly with your eyes when driving.
Even though the object displayed on the screen, such as a road curb or a division
line of a parking space, and the vehicle parallel guide lines appear parallel, they
may not actually be parallel.

Use the top view/rear view to assist in checking the safety of the surrounding area
when accelerating from a stop, parking, or stopping the vehicle.

The front of the vehicle swings out wide when turning the steering wheel while
reversing. Maintain su fficient distance between the vehicle and an obstruction.

NOTE
Because there might be a di fference between the image displayed on the screen,
such as indicated in the following , and the actual conditions when parking, always
check the safety at the rear of the vehicle and the surrounding area directly with
your eyes.
Even though the back end of the parking space (or garage) displayed on the
screen and distance guide lines appear parallel, they may not actually be
parallel.
When parking in a space with a division line on only one side of the parking
space, even though the division line and the vehicle width guide line appear
parallel, they may not actually be parallel.
The following shows an example of vehicle parking with the steering wheel turned
to the left while backing up the vehicle. When backing into a parking space from
the opposite direction, the steering operation is reversed.

1. Check under the hood area to
make certain all filler caps are in
place and all loose items (e.g.
tools, oil containers, etc.) have
been removed.
2. Lift the hood, grasp the padded area on the support rod, and secure
the support rod in the clip. Verify
that the support rod is secured in
the clip before closing the hood.

3. Lower the hood slowly to a heightof about 20 cm (7.9 in) above its
closed position and then let it drop.
CAUTION
When closing the hood, do not push it
excessively such as by applying your
weight. Otherwise, the hood could be
deformed.

Replace the tire when this happens.
1. New tread
2. Worn tread
3. Tread wear indicator

You should replace the tire before the
band crosses the entire tread.
NOTE
Tires degrade over time, even when
they are not being used on the road. It
is recommended that tires generally be
replaced when they are 6 years or
older. Heat caused by hot climates or
frequent high loading conditions can
accelerate the aging process. The
period in which the tire was
manufactured (both week and year) is
indicated by a 4-digit number.

▼Replacing a Wheel
WARNING
Always use wheels of the correct size
on your vehicle:
Using a wrong-sized wheel is
dangerous. Braking and handling could
be
aff ected, leading to loss of control
and an accident.
CAUTION
A wrong-sized wheel may adversely
a ff ect:
 Tire fit
 Wheel and bearing life
 Ground clearance
 Snow-chain clearance
 Speedometer calibration
 Headlight aim
 Bumper height

NOTE
When replacing a wheel, make sure
the new one is the same as the
original factory wheel in diameter,
rim width, and
offset (inset/outset).

Proper tire balancing provides the best
riding comfort and helps reduce tread
wear. Out-of-balance tires can cause
vibration and uneven wear, such as
cupping and flat spots.

“215” is the nominal width of the tire
in millimeters. This three-digit number
gives the width in millimeters of the
tire from sidewall edge to sidewall
edge. In general, the larger the
number, the wider the tire.

“65” is the aspect ratio. This two-digit
number indicates the tire's ratio of
height to width.
R
“R” is the tire construction symbol. R
indicates “Radial ply construction”.

“15” is the wheel rim diameter in
inches.

The grades represent the tire's ability
to stop on wet pavement as measured
under controlled conditions on
specified government test surfaces of
asphalt and concrete. A tire marked C
may have poor traction performance.
Temperature: The temperature grades
are A (the highest), B and C,
representing the tire's resistance to the
generation of heat and its ability to
dissipate heat when tested under
controlled conditions on a speci fied
indoor laboratory test wheel.
Snow Tires
In some heavy snow areas, local
governments may require true snow
tires, those with very deeply cut tread.
These tires should only be used in pairs
or placed on all four wheels. Make
sure you purchase snow tires that are
the same size and construction type as
the other tires on your vehicle.

Pressure
On the tire label you will find the
recommended tire inflation pressure in
both kPa and psi for the tires installed
as original equipment on the vehicle. It
is very important that the inflation
pressure of the tires on your vehicle is
maintained at the recommended
pressure. You should check the tire
pressure regularly to insure that the
proper in flation pressure is maintained.
Refer to Tires on page 9-5.
NOTE
Tire pressures listed on the vehicle
placard or tire information label
indicate the recommended cold tire
in flation pressure, measured when the
tires are cold, after the vehicle has
been parked for at least 3 hours. As
you drive, the temperature in the tire
warms up, increasing the tire pressure.
