Todeactivate:pressthe7button ontheSmartKeytwice inquick succession.The batterycheck lamp ofthe SmartKeyflashes twice brieflyand lights up once.
Toactivate:press any button onthe Smart‐Key.
Whenthevehicle isstarted withthe Smart‐Key inthestowage compartment ofthe cen‐ter console,the SmartKeyfunctions areautomaticallyactivated (page145).
Removing/inserting the emergencykey
Toremove:pressrelease button1.Emergencykey2is pushed out slightly.
Pull out emergencykey2until it engages inthe intermediate position.
You can usethe intermediate position ofemergencykey2toattachthe SmartKeytoakeyring.
Pressrelease button1again and fullyremoveemergencykey2.
Toinsert:pressrelease button1.
Insert emergencykey2tothe intermediateposition or fully until it engages.
Replacing the SmartKeybattery

Combustion engines emit poisonousexhaustgases such as carbon monoxide. Exhaustgases can enterthevehicle interior ifthetrunk lid is open whenthe engine isrunning,especially ifthevehicle is in motion.
Always switch offthe engine beforeopeningthe trunk lid.
Never drive withthe trunk lid open.
NOTEDamagetothe trunk lidbyobsta‐cles abovethevehicle
The trunk lid swings upwards when it isopened.
Therefore, make surethatthere is suffi‐cient clearance abovethe trunk lid.
You havethefollowing optionsfor openingthe trunk lid:

Tointerruptautomatic operation:press orpullthebbutton again.
Whenthevehicle is switched off,the side win‐dowscan continue being operated.
The function isavailablefor aroundfiveminutesor until a front door is opened.
Automaticreversing function ofthe side win‐dowsIf an object blocksa side windowduringtheclosing process,the side window opens againautomatically.The automaticreversing functionis only an aid and is not a substituteforyourattentiveness.
When closing, make surethat no body partsare inthe closing area.

Releasethe button immediately ifsomebody becomes trapped.

Thefollowing functions are performed:
RThevehicle is unlocked.
RThe side windowsare opened.
RThe sliding sunroof is opened.
RThe panoramic sliding sunroof is opened.
RThe seatventilation ofthe driver's seat isswitched on.
Iftheroller sunblinds ofthe panoramic slidingsunroof are closed,theroller sunblinds areopenedfirst.
Tointerruptconvenience opening:releasethe6button.

Automatic lowering functionVehicles with a panoramic sliding sunroof:Ifthe sliding sunroof israised attherear, it isautomatically lowered slightly at higher speeds.Atlow speeds, it israised again automatically.

Ifyouexceedthe maximumroof load,thedrivingcharacteristics, aswell asthesteer‐ing and brakingcharacteristics, will begreatlyimpaired.
Always comply withthe maximumroofload and adjustyour drivingstyle.
