Selecting the switch-on time
You can select up to three swi tch-on times
with the
Auxiliary heating function.
However, only one switch-on time may be
activated at any one time. You can set the
exact switch-on time using the other func-
tions in the
Heatersubmenu.
If you have selected a switch-on time, the
yellow indicator lamp lights up in the auxil-
iary heating switch ( =pa ge 176). You
can set the tem perature using:
! Thermatic automatic air cond itioning

pa ge 154)
! Thermotronic* intelligent air condition-
ing ( =page 164)
You can switch off the auxiliary heating
using the remote control.
The auxil iary he ating switches off aut omat-
ically after 50 minutes. You can have this
time changed. To do this, consult your
nearest Mercedes-Benz Service Centre.

Auxil iary heating /ventilation*
The auxiliary heating heats or ventilates
the vehicle interior to the temperature that
you have set using the temperature con-
trol.
You can set up to three sw itch-on times
using the operating system, one of whi ch
can be preselected ( =pa ge 126).
You can switch the auxiliary heating /
ve ntilation on and off immediately using:
! the sw itch on the centre console
(= page 176)
! the remote control ( =page 176)
In order to call up the Heater submenu in
the operating system directly:
6 Make sure that the ignition is set to 1
or 2.
6 Briefly press the auxiliary heating /
ventilation swi tch (
=pag e176). The auxiliary heating switches off automat-
ically after 50 minutes. You can have this
time changed. To have this done, please
visit a qua lified specialist workshop, e.g. a
Mercedes-Benz Service Centre.
i The fuel tankmu st be at least a quarter full
to ensur eth at the auxiliary heating can operate. i
The auxiliary heatin g/ventilation automati-
cally adjusts to variat ions inthe outside temper-
ature and changes in wea ther. It is therefore
poss ible for the auxiliary heating to switch from
ventilation mode to heating mode or from heat-
ing mode to ventilation mode.
6 It is preferable to set the air condition-
ing to U.
i The auxi liary heating /ventilation can be
switched on ev en if theair conditioning isset to
manual. However, optim umcomfort wil lonlybe
achiev edif the air conditioning is set to U.
6 Set the interior temperature to the
desired value.
The auxiliary heating /ventilation
adjusts to the temperature set.
i Itis recommended that you set the temper-

ha ust fumes are produced when the auxil-
iary heating is inoperation. For this reason,
switch off the auxiliary hea ting in confined
spaces which do not have an extraction sys-
tem, e.g. a gara ge.
Operating the auxiliary heating at filling sta-
tions or when refuelling your vehicle isprohib-
ited. For this reason, switch off the auxiliary

centre console
The sw itch is located on the right-hand
side of the lower section of the centre con-
sole.
1 Auxiliary heatin g/ventilation
2 Red or blue indicator lamp
3 Yellow indicator lamp
The indicator lamps in the switch may light
up in blue, red or yellow. If the ignition is set to
1or 2:
6 Press and hold button 1form ore than
two secon ds.
The red or blue indicator lamp in the
switch lights up. The auxiliary heating /
ventilation is switch edon.
If there is no key in the ignition lock or the
ignition is set to 0:
6 Briefly press button 1.
The red or blu eindicator lamp in the
switch lights up. The auxiliary heating /
ventilation is switch edon.
i The blu eindicator lamp lights upafter two
seconds if you have swit ched over to auxiliary
ventilation. Remote control
The remote control has a max
imum range
of approximatel y300 m. The range may be
re duc edby:
! sources of radio interference
! solidobjects between the remote con-
trol and the vehicle
! the remote control being in an unfa-
vourable position in relation to the
vehicle
! transmitting inan enclosed space
i Optimum range can be achieved by holding
the remote control vertically whe ntransmitting.
One remote control is supplied as part of the
vehicle's equipment. However, a second remote
control canbeused for eac hvehicle. For furt her
infor mation, please consult aqualified spe cialist

Open-air Resetting the sliding
/tilting sunroof
The slidin g/tilting sunroof mus tbe reset
if:
! the battery was disconnected or dis-
charged
! the sliding /tilti ng sunroof was closed
manual ly(emergency operation)

! the sliding /tilti ng sunroof can only be
opened with a jerk
! there was a mal function
6 Switch on the ignition.
6 Press the switch ( =pa ge 181) in the
direction of arrow 3unti lthe sliding /
tilting sunroof is fully raised at the rear. 6
Keep the switch pressed for approxi-
mately one secon dafter the sunroof is
raised.
6 Check that the slidin g/tilting sunroof
can (automatically) be fully opened
aga in (
=pa ge 180).
If you cannot (aut omatically) open the
sliding /tilti ng sunroof fully:
6 Reset the slidin g/tilting sunroof.
In warm weather, you may wish to ventilate
the vehicle before driv ing off. To do this,
the remote control can be used to simulta-
neously open:
! the slidin g/tilting sunroof* and
! the side windows

dows and the slidin g/tilting sunroof*
when you lock the vehicle.
6Point the tip of the remote control at
the driver's door handle.
6 Press the ‹button to lock the vehi-
cle and keep it pressed until the side
windows and sli ding /tilting sunroof*
are fully closed.
6 Make sure that all the side windows
and the slidin g/tilting sunroof* are

Features
The remote control integrated in the rear-
vi ew mirror allows you to operate up to
three different door and gate systems.
You can program the transmitter buttons.
i The garage door opener is only available for
certain countries. Observe the legal require-
ment sinall cou ntrie sc oncerned.
Some garage door ope ning systems cannot be
operated using the remote control. You may
ob tain more detailed information from a
Mercedes-Benz Service Centre. Remote contro

If the garage door syst emworks with a roll-
ing code , youmust synchronise the remote con-
trol in the rear-view mirror with the garage door
syste m'sreceiver after you have programm ed
th ei ntegrated remote control.
You will find further information inthe operati ng
instructions for the garage door opening system,
e.g. the sections on "Sy nchronising the transmit-
ter" or "Regis tering a new transmitter". Opening
/closing the garage door
Once programmed, the integrated remote
control assumes the function of the garage
do or syste m's remote control. Please read
the Operating Instructions for the garage
doo rsystem.
6 Switch on the ignition.
6 Press the transmitter button in the
rear-view mirro rwhich you have pro-
grammed to operate this garage door.
Garage door system with a fixed code:
Indicator lamp 1lights up continu-
ously. Garage door system with a rolling code:
Indicator lamp
1flashes briefly and
then lights up for approximately two
seconds. This is repeated for up to
20 seconds.
i The transm itter transmits a signal for as long
as thetran sm itter button is pres sed.After ama x-
imum of 20 seconds the transmission is stopped
and indicator lamp 1flash es. Press the tra ns-
mitter button again if necessary. Cl

6 Switch on the ignition.

Operation
Refuell ing
The fuel filler flap is located to the rear on
the right-hand side. The fuel filler flap is
locked and unlocked automatically with
the remote control when you lock or un-
lock the vehicle. 1
To open the fuel fil ler flap
2 To insert the fuel filler cap in holder
6 Remove the key from the ignition lock.
6 Open the fuel filler flap. To do this,
press on fuel filler flap 1in the direc-
tion of the arrow.
The fuel filler flap folds out.
6 Turn the fuel filler cap anti-clockwise
and remove it. 6
Place the fuel filler cap in the holder on
the ins ide of fuel filler flap 2.
6 Only fill the tank until the pump nozzle
switches off.
6 Replace the fuel filler cap. Close it by
turning it clockwise.
The fuel filler cap engages audibly.
6 Close the fuel filler flap. The catch en-
gages.
i You will generally find inform ation about the
petrol grade onthe filling pump. If not, ask the
fill ing station attendant.
CLK 200 Kompressor, CLK 240, CLK 320,
CLK 500:
Premium unleaded petrol with a minimum
octane rating of 95 RO N/85 MON.
i As a very temporary meas ure, you may
also use regular un leaded petrol, 91 RON /
82.5 MON. This may reduce power and increase
petrol consumption. Avoid the use of full throttle. Refuelling

Risk ofinjury Fuel is highly flammable. Fire, naked flames
and smoking are prohibited when fuel is be-
ing handled.
Switch off the auxiliary
heating when refuel-
ling.
Do not allow fuel tocome into contact with
sk in or clothing. Your health maybe dam-
aged if:
! you spill fuel onto your skin
