390 Technical data
Genuine Mercedes-Benz parts
The "Technical data" section contains all
the necessary technical data for your vehi-
cle. Some of the values given are provi-
sional and, in some cases, calculated
values. Final
values were not available
when this manual was printed.
i The technical data was determined in ac-
co rdance with EU Directives. All data applies to
the vehicle's standard equipment. The data may
therefore differ for vehicles with optional equip-
me nt. You may obtain further information from a
Me rcede s-Be nz Service Cen tre.
You will find information ab out your vehicle's
noise level in th evehicle 'sdoc umen tation.
Mercedes-Benz tests genuine parts and
con version parts and accessories whi ch
have been speci fically approved for your
veh icle in terms of their reliability, safety
and suitab ility.
Despite ongoing market research,
Mercedes-Benz is unable to guarantee oth-
er parts. Mercedes-Benz therefore accepts
no responsi bility for the use of such parts
in Mercedes-Benz vehicles, even if they
have been independently or officially ap-
proved. In Germany and other countries, certain
parts are only officially approv
edfor instal-
lation or modification work ifthey comply
with legal requirements. All genuine
Mercedes-Benz parts satisfy these
regul ations.
Make sure thatreplacement parts are suit-
able for you rvehicle. In many countries,
parts that constitute a modification tothe
vehicle could invalidate the vehicle's gen-
eral operating permit. This isthe case if:
! ther e is achan gein the vehicle type ap-
proved in the general operating permit
! road users could be endangered
! exhaust emissions or noise levels are
adversely affected
The use of parts wh ich have not been offi-
cially approve dcan jeopardise the safety
of your vehicle.
Mercedes-Benz therefore recommends
that you use genuine Mercedes-Benz parts
and conversion parts and accessories
whi chhave been approved for your vehi-
cle. You can obtain genuine Merce
des-Benz
parts and appro ved conversion parts and
accessories from any Merced es-Benz
Service Centre. Here you will receive ad-
vi ce about technical modifications, and the
parts will be pro fessionally fitted.
Always quote the vehicle identification
number and the engine number when or-
dering genuine parts. You will find these
numbers onthe vehicle data card in the
"Service Booklet" or on your vehicle's iden-
tification plates ( =pa ge 393). Genuine Mercedes
-Benz parts H
Environmental note DaimlerChrysler also supplies reconditioned
assemblies and parts which are of the same
quality as new parts. These parts have the
same warranty as new parts. 209en_d2.boo Seite

! Only have th eengine electronics and asso-
ciated parts, such as control units, sensors or
connec tor leads, serviced at a qualified spe cial-
is tworkshop. Otherwise, vehicle parts may wear
more quickly and the vehicle warranty and gen-
eral operating permit may be invalidated. Electrical and electronic equipment can
jeopardise the operational safety of your
vehicle. If equipment of th iskind is retrofit-
te d, it must be typ eappro vedand must
bear the emark .The emark can be ob-
tained from the equipment manufacturer
or an authorised testing authority.
If you wish to install telephones or two-way
radios in the vehicle, you must obtain for-
mal approval. Mercedes-Benz approves
the installation of mobile telephones and
two-w ayradios provide dthat they are in-
stalled professionally and a low-reflection
exterior aerial is used.
The transmission output of the telephone
or two-way radio must not exceed the max-
imum transmission outputs specif ied on
the next page. Vehicle electronics
