Instrument cluster
You will find a full ov
erview of the instru-
ment cluster in the "At a glance" sect ion
( = page 12).
1 Reset button
The displ ays in the instrument cluster are
ac tivated when you:
! open a door
! switch on the ignition
! press the reset button
! switch on the lights
You can modify the instrument cluster dis-
play settings, e.g. the language selection,
using the operating system ( =pa ge 108). 6
Make sure that the standard displ ayis
shown in the mu lti-function display
(= page 112).
6 Press and hold the reset button 1
until the trip me ter is reset. You can adjust the brightness of th
einstru-
ment lighting using reset button 1.
i The instrument lighti ngautomatically
adjusts itself to the brightness of the ambient
light. Brighter

Turn reset button 1clockwise.
The instrument lighting becomes
brighter. Dimmer

Turn the reset but tonan ti-clockwise.

You can call up malfunctions which have
occurred in the malfunction memory
menu. The message in the display depends
on whether malfunctions have occurred or
not.
6 Press the èorÿ button repeat-
edly until you see the correspond ing
malfunction memory message in the
display. No malfunction messages
If no malfunctions have occurred, the mes-
sageNo
malfunctionappea rsin the dis-
play. Malfunctions occurred
If malfunctions have
occurred, you will see
the number of malfunctions in the display:
1 Number of malfunctions
6 Press the korj button.
You can scroll through the malfunction
messages in order. The possible mal-
function messages are described in
th e" Practical advice" sec tion
( = pa ge 280).
If ma lfunctions have occurre dduring your
journey, you wi llsee the number of mal-
functions displayed again in the display
when your journey iscomplete (turn the
key to position 0in the ignition lock ,or
remove it).
6 Press the reset button on the left in the
instrument cluster repeatedly until you
have seen all the malfunction mes-
sages. i
If you tur nthe key back toposition 1or 2in
th ei gnition lock, you will clear the malfunction
me mo ry.Should any malfunctions occur again,
the ywill be displayed again.
In the
Sett ings...menu, there are two
functions:
! The
Toreset: Press reset buttonfor
3 seconds
function, which you can use
to reset all the set tings to the factory
settin gs
! A collection of submenus which you
can use to make indi vidual settings for
your vehicle
6 Press the èorÿ button repeat-
edly until you see the
Settings ...
menu in the displ ay. Malfunction memory

Risk of accident The operating system only records malfunc-
tions and warnings
from certain systems.
For this reason, make sure th atyour veh icle
is safe to use. Otherwise, you could endan-

You can return the functions of all the sub-
menus to the factory settings.
6
Press the reset button on the left in the
instrument cluster for approximately
three seconds.
You will see the request inthe displ ay
to press the reset button once more to
confi rm.
6 Press the reset button again.
All the submenu functions are restored
to their factory settings.
i If you do not pre ssthe reset button a second
time to co nfirm ,the ch angedsetting s remain
set. You will see theSettings...menu again

The submenus are arranged in a hierarchy.
You can scroll down by pressing the ç

You can move to the individual functions
wi thin the submenus by pressing the k
or j buttons.
You can make the settings as before using
the æ orç buttons. Resetting the subme
nufunctions
You can return the functions ineach sub-
me nu to the factory settings.
6 Select a function from a submenu.
6 Press the reset but ton on the left in the
instrument cluster for approximately
three seconds.
You will see the request in the display
to press the reset button once more to
confirm.
6 Pres s the reset button again.
All the submenu functions are restored
to thei rfact ory settings again.
i If you do not press the reset button a second
time to confirm, the changed settings remain
set. You will see the
Settings...menu again
after approximate lyfive seconds.

If you have set constant headlamp
mode and the light switch is at 0, the
following light up automatically when
the engine is running:
! Side lamps and dipped-beam head-
lamps
! Licen ceplate lighting
i If you turn the light switch toanoth erposi-
tion, the appropriate light switches on.
If you reset the settings in theLightingmenu
to the factory settings ( =
page 12 2)while you
are driving, this set ting will not be reset for
safet yreasons.
You will see th efollowi ngmessage in the dis-
play:
Cannot be completely reset to
factory settings whiledriving!
Setting the surround lighti ng
If you switch on the surround lighting, the
following light up in the dark after you have
unlocked the vehicle using the remote con-
trol:
! The side lam ps
! The tail lamps
! The licence plate lighting
! The front foglamps
The surround lighting switches off when
you open the driver's door. The surround
lighting is switched off automatically after
40 seconds.
6 Move the bar to the
Ligh tingsubmenu
using theæ orç button.
6 Press the jork button repeat-
edly until you see the

Set exterior lighting delayed switch-off
You can set whether and for how long you
wish the exterior lighting to remain on in
the dark after closing the doors by using
the
Headla mps delayed switch-offfunc-
tion
. When you have set the delayed
switch-off and have switched off the
eng ine, the following light up:
! The side lamps
! The tail lamps
! The licence plate lighting
! The front fog lamps

station every time you operate the radio or
wh ether it should select a station which
has already been stored ( =pa ge 113).

Set automatic locking
You can use this function to activate or
deactivate the automatic central locking. If
the automatic locking is activated, your
vehicle will lock centrally from a speed of
about 15 km /h. For further information,
see Automatic lockin g(

accept a call at anytime provided
your telephone is ready to receive calls.

You have accepted the call. You will

Dialling a number from the telephone book
You may select and dial a number from the
telephone book at any time provided your
telephone is ready to receive calls.

phone book stored on the SIM card or
