Cornering lightfunction
The cornering light function improves the
illumination of the road overawideanglein
the direction you are turning, enabling better
visibility in tight bends, for example. It can
only be activated whenthe low-beam
headlamps are switched on.
Active:
Rif you are driving at speeds below 25 mph
(40 km/h)and switch on the turn signal or
turn the steering wheel
Rif you are driving at speeds between
25 mph(40km/h)and 45 mph(70km/h)
and turn the steering wheel
Not active:if you are driving at speeds above
25 mph (40 km/h) or switch off the turn
signalorturn the steering wheel to the
straight-ahead position.
The cornering lamp may remain lit forashort
time, but is automatically switched off after
no more than three minutes.
Active light function

Adaptive Highbeam Assist
Important safety notes
GWARNING
Adaptive Highbeam Assist does not recognize
road users:
Rwho have no lights, e.g. pedestrians
Rwho have poor lighting, e.g. cyclists
Rwhose lighting is blocked, e.g. byabarrier
In very rare cases, Adaptive Highbeam Assist
may fail too recognize other road users that
have lights, or may recognize them too late.
In this or similar situations, the automatic
high-beam headlamps will not be deactivated
or activated regardless. There isarisk of an
accident.
Always carefully observe the traffic conditions
and switch off the high-beam headlamps in
good time.

You can use this function to set the
headlamps to change betweenlow beam and
high beam automatically. The system
recognizes vehicles with their lights on, either
approaching from the opposite direction or
traveling in front of your vehicle, and
consequently switches the headlamps from
high beam to low beam.
The system automatically adapts the low-
beam headlamp range depending on the
distance to the other vehicle. Once the
system no longer detectsany other vehicles,
it reactivates the high-beam headlamps.
The system's optical sensor is located behind
the windshield near the overhead control
panel.

vehicle and other road users.
If you are driving at speeds above
approximately 35 mph (55 km/h) and no
other road users have been detected:
The high-beam headlamps are switched on
automatically. The indicator lamp in
the instrument cluster also lights up.
If you are driving at speeds below
approximately 30 mph (45 km/h) or other
road users have been detected or the roads
are adequately lit:
The high-beam headlamps are switched off
automatically. The indicator lamp in
the instrument cluster goes out. The
indicator lamp in the multifunction display
remains lit.

Night View Assist Plus
Important safety notes
Night View Assist Plus is only an aid and is not
asubstitute for attentive driving. Do not rely
on the Night View Assist Plus display. You are
responsible for the distance to the vehicle in
front, for vehicle speed and for braking in
good time. Drive carefully and always adapt
your driving style to suit the prevailing road
and traffic conditions.
The system may be impaired or may not
function if:
Rthere is poor visibility, e.g. due to snow,
rain, fog or spray
Rthe windshield is dirty, fogged up or
covered, for instance byasticker, in the
vicinityofthe camera
Ron bends, on uphill gradients or downhill
gradients
Pedestrian recognition may be impaired or
inoperative if:
Rpedestrians are partially or entirely
obscured by objects, e.g. parked vehicles
Rthe silhouette of the pedestrian in the Night
View Assist Plus display is incompleteor
interrupted, e.g. by powerful light
reflections
Rpedestrians do not contrast adequately
from the background
Rpedestrians are not in an upright position,
e.g. sitting, squatting or lying
In addition to the illumination provided by the
normal headlamps, Night View Assist Plus
uses infrared light to illuminate the road.
Night View Assist Plus camera picks up
the infrared light and displaysamonochrome
image in COMAND. The image displayed in
COMAND corresponds toaroad lit up by high-
beam headlamps. This enables you to see the
road's course and any obstacles in good time.
If pedestrian recognition is activated,
pedestrians recognized by the system are

highlighted in the Night View Assist Plus
display.
Light from the headlamps of oncoming
vehicles does not affect the Night View Assist
Plus displayinthe multifunction display. This
is also the case if you cannot switch on the
high-beam headlamps due to oncoming
traffic.
iInfrared light is not visible to the human
eye and therefore does not glare. Night
View Assist Plus can therefore remain
switched on even if there is oncoming
traffic.
Activating Night View Assist Plus
Activation conditions
You can only activate Night View Assist Plus
if:
Rthe SmartKey is in position2in the ignition
lock.
Rit is dark.
Rthe light switch is in the \ror
position.
Rreverse gear has not been engaged.
Activating Night View Assist Plus
XMake sure that COMAND is switched on.
XPress button .
The Night View Assist Plus displayappears
in the COMAND display.
You can read about how to adjust the
brightness of the COMAND displayinthe
COMAND operating instructions.
iThe infrared headlamps only switch on
when the vehicle is being driven at speeds
of approximately6mph (10 km/h). This
means that you do not have the full visual
range while the vehicle is stationary and
cannot check whether Night View Assist
Plus is working.
