Introduction
GWARNING
If youoperate informationsystems and
communication equipmentintegratedin the
vehiclewhile driving, you will be distracted
from traffic conditions. You could also lose
control of thevehicle. There isariskofan
accident.
Only operate theequipmentwhen the traffic
situation permits. If you are not sure that this
is possible, park the vehicle paying attention
to traffic conditions and operate the
equipment when the vehicle is stationary.
When telephoning, you must observe the
legal requirements for the countryinwhich
you are currently driving.
XSwitch on the mobile phone (see the
separate operating instructions).
XSwitch on COMAND (see the separate

XEstablishaBluetooth®connection to

GWARNING
If you deactivate ESP®,ESP®no longer
stabilizes the vehicle. There is an increased
risk of skidding and an accident.
Only deactivate ESP®in the situations
described in the following.
It may be best to deactivate ESP®in the
following situations:
Rwhen using snow chains
Rin deep snow
Ron sand or gravel
Activating/deactivating ESP®on AMG
vehicles (Ypage70).
For further information about ESP®,see
(Ypage68).
XStart the engine.
XPress the \nor button on the
steering wheeltoselect theDriveAssist
menu.
XPress the or button to select
ESP.
XPress the button.
The current selection is displayed.
XTo activate/deactivate:press the

ESP®is deactivated if the warning lamp
in the instrument cluster lights up
continuously when the engine is running.
If the warning lamp and the

Activating/deactivating PRE-SAFE®
Brake
PRE-SAFE®Brake is only available in vehicles
with DISTRONIC PLUS.

The current selection is displayed.
XTo activate/deactivate:press the

When PRE-SAFE®Brake is deactivated, the

You can determine whether the multifunction
displaypermanently shows your speed or the
outside temperature.

You will see the selected settingOutside

Lights
Setting the brightness of the instrument
cluster lighting and switches
The lighting in the instrumentcluster,inthe
displays and the controls in the vehicle
interior can be adjusted using the
Brightness Display/Switches:function.
XPress the \nor button on the
steeringwheel to selecttheSett.menu.
XPress the or button to select the
Lightssubmenu.
XPress to confirm.
XPress the or button to select the
Brightness Display/Switches:
function.
You will see the selected setting.
XPress to confirm.
XPress the or button to adjust the
brightness to any level fromLevel 1to
Level 5(bright).

If the light switch is set to \r, or
,the brightness is dependent upon
the brightness of the ambient light.
iThe light sensor in the instrumentcluster
automatically controls the brightnessof
the multifunction display.
In daylight, the displays in the instrument
cluster are not illuminated.

off
iThis function is not available in Canada.

Setting the ambient lighting color

Activating/deactivating surround
lighting and exterior lighting delayed
switch-off
XPress the \nor button on the
steeringwheel to select theSett.menu.
XPress the or button to select the
Lightssubmenu.
XPress to confirm.
XPress or to select the
Surround Lightingfunction.
When theSurround Lightingfunction is
activated, the light cone and the area
around the vehicle are displayedinred in
the multifunction display.
XPress the button to save the setting.
Deactivating delayed switch-off of the
exterior lighting temporarily:
XBefore leaving the vehicle, turn the
SmartKey to position0in the ignition lock.
XTurn the SmartKey to position2in the
ignition lock.
The exterior lighting delayed switch-off is
deactivated.
Delayed switch-off of the exterior lighting is
reactivated the next time you start the
engine.
If you have activated theSurround
Lightingfunction and the light switch is set
to \r,the following functions are activated
when it is dark:
RSurround lighting:the exterior lighting
remains lit for 40 seconds after unlocking
with the SmartKey. If you start the engine,
the surround lighting is switched off and
the automatic headlamp mode is activated
(Ypage 117).
RExterior lighting delayed switch-off:the
exterior lighting remains lit for 60seconds
after the engine is switched off. If you close
all the doors and the trunklid, the exterior
lighting goes off after5seconds.

lighting delayed switch-off
If you activate theInterior Lighting
Delayfunction,the interior lighting remains
on for 20seconds after you remove the
SmartKey from the ignition lock.

Delayfunction.
When theInterior Lighting Delay
function is activated, the vehicle interior is

Activating/deactivating the automatic
door locking mechanism
XPress the \nor button on the
steering wheel to select theSett.menu.
XPress or to select theVehicle
submenu.
XPress to confirm.
XPress or to select theAuto.
Door Locksfunction.
When theAutomaticDoorLockfunction
is activated, the vehicle doors are displayed
in red in the multifunction display.
XPress the button to save the setting.
If you activate theAutomatic Door Lock
function,the vehicle is centrally locked above
aspeed of around9mph (15 km/h).

Activating/deactivating the acoustic
locking verification signal
If you switch on theAcousticLockfunction,
an acoustic signal sounds when you lock the
vehicle.
XPress the \nor button on the
steering wheel to select theSett.menu.
XPress or to select theVehicle
submenu.
XPress to confirm.
XPress the or button to select the
Acoustic Lockfunction.
If theAcousticLockfunction is activated,
the symbol in the multifunction
displaylights up red.
XPress the button to save the setting.
Activating/deactivating the radar sensor
system
XPress the \nor button on the
steering wheel to select theSett.menu.
XPress or to select theVehicle
submenu.
XPress to confirm.
XPress the or button to select
Radar Sensor (See Oper. Manual):.
You will see the selected setting:Enabled
orDisabled.

Convenience
Activating/deactivatingtheEASY-
ENTRY/EXIT feature
GWARNING
When theEASY-ENTRY/EXIT feature adjusts
thesteering wheel,you and other vehicle
occupants–particularly children–could
become trapped. There isarisk of injury.
While the EASY-ENTRY/EXIT feature is
making adjustments, make sure that no one
has any body parts in the sweep of the
steering wheel.
If somebody becomes trapped:
Rpress one of the memory function position
buttons, or
Rmove the switch for steering wheel
adjustmentinthe opposite direction to that
in which the steering wheel is moving.
The adjustment process is stopped.
XPress the \nor button on the
steering wheel to select theSettings
menu.
XPress the or button to select the
Conveniencesubmenu.
XPress to confirm.
XPress the or button to select the
Easy Entry/Exit:function.
If theEasy Entry/Exitfunction is
activated, the vehicle steering wheel is
displayed in red in the multifunction
display.
XPress the button to save the setting.

Switching the belt adjustment on/off
XPress the \nor button on the
steering wheel to select theSett.menu.
XPress the or button to select the
Conveniencesubmenu.
XPress to confirm.

Belt Adjustmentfunction.
When theBelt Adjustmentfunction is
activated, the vehicle seat belt is displayed
in red in the multifunction display.
XPress the button to save the setting.

Switching the fold-in mirrors with the
locking featureon/off
This function is only available on vehicles with
the memory function (Ypage 112).
When you activate theAuto. Mirror
Foldingfunction, the exterior mirrors are
folded in when the vehicle is locked. If you
unlock the vehicle and then openadoor, the
exterior mirrors fold out again.
XPress the \nor button on the
steering wheel to select theSett.menu.
XPress the or button to select the
Conveniencesubmenu.
XPress to confirm.
XPress or to select theAuto.
Mirror Foldingfunction.
If theAuto. Mirror Foldingfunction is
activated, the vehicle's exterior mirror is
displayed in red in the multifunction
display.

To fold the exterior mirrors in or out
If you have switched on theAuto. Mirror
Foldingfunction and you fold in the exterior
mirrors by pressing button ,the exterior

You can then only fold out the exterior mirrors
using button .
Restoringthe factory settings

TheReset All Settings?message
appears.
XPress the or button to select
NoorYes.
XPress to confirm the selection.
If you have selectedYes,the multifunction
display showsaconfirmation message.
For safety reasons, theDaytime Running
Lightsfunction in theLightssubmenu is
only reset if the vehicleisstationary.

The RACETIMER is only intended for useona
closed race circuit. Do not usethe function
on public roads.
Youcan startthe RACETIMER when the
engine is running or if the SmartKey is in
position2in the ignition lock.
XPress \nor on the steering wheel
to select theAMGmenu.
XPress the button repeatedlyuntilthe
RACETIMER is shown.
XTo start:press the button to startthe
RACETIMER.
Displaying the intermediate time
XPress the \nor button to select
Interm. Time.
XPress to confirm.
The intermediate time is displayed for five
seconds.

Fastest laptime (best lap)

XPress to confirmNew Lap.
iIt is possible to storeamaximum of
sixteen laps. The 16th lapcan only be
completed withFinish Lap.
Stoppingthe RACETIMER
XPress the button on the steering
wheel.

The RACETIMER interrupts timing when you
stop the vehicleand turn the SmartKey to
position1in the ignition lock. If youturn the
SmartKey to position2or3and then press
to confirmStart,timing is continued.
Resetting the current lap
XStop the RACETIMER.
XPress the \nor button to select
ResetLap.
XPress to reset the laptime to "0".
