Automatic driving lights functionThe parking lights, low beam and daytimerun‐ning lamps are switched on automaticallydepending onthe ignitionstatus andthe ambi‐ent light.
\nWARNINGRisk of accident whenthe lowbeam is switched off in poor visibility
Whenthe light switch is settoX,the lowbeam may not be switched on automaticallyifthere isfog, snow orother causes of poorvisibility such as spray.
In such cases, turnthe light switchtoX.

The ignition is switched off again if one ofthefollowing conditions is met:
RYou do notstartthevehicle within15minutes andthe transmission is in posi‐tion]orthe electric parking brake isapplied.

Startingthevehicle withthestart/stop but‐ton

Shiftthe transmissiontoposition]or\\.
Depressthe brake pedal and press button1once.
Ifthevehicle does notstart:switch off non-essential consumers and press button1once.
Ifthevehiclestill does notstart andthePlace the Key in the Marked Space SeeOperator's Manualdisplay message alsoappears inthe multifunction display:startthevehicle in emergency operation mode.

Always installthefloor mats securelyand as prescribed in ordertoensurethatthere is always sufficientroomforthe pedals.
Do not use loosefloor mats and do notplacefloor mats ontop of one another.

Ifyou switchoffthe ignition while driving,safety functions arerestricted or no longeravailable. This may affectthe powersteeringsystem andthe brakeforce boosting,forexample.
You willthen needtouse considerably moreforcetosteer and brake.
Do not switch offthe ignition while driv‐ing.

Vehicles with a 48 V on-board electrical sys‐tem (EQ Boosttechnology)
The engine is switched off automatically inthefollowing situations if allvehicle conditionsforan automatic enginestop are met:
RYou brakethevehicletoastandstill in trans‐mission position[or\\.
RYou depressthe brake pedal when travelingat a low speed.
Ifyou switchonthe HOLD function or select adifferent transmission positionthan^,theengine will automaticallystop inthefollowingsituations:
RYoustop behind avehiclethat is pullingaway.
RYoustop at astop sign whenthere is novehi‐cle in front ofyou.
RYou turnthesteering wheel hard at a lowspeed.
The engine isrestarted automatically if:
RYoureleasethe brake pedal in transmissionposition[whenthe HOLD function is notactive and one ofthefollowing conditions aremet:
-Drive programAor;is not selec‐ted.
-Drive programAor;is selectedbutthe does notstarttomove.
-Drive programAor;is selected,thevehicle is moving at a speed of morethat15mph (20 km/h) and Glide mode isnot activated.
RYou engagetransmission position[or^.
RYoureleasethe brake pedal,thevehicle isnot inglide mode and itstartstomoveon agentle downhill gradient at a speed below2mph (3 km/h).
RYou depressthe accelerator pedal.
RAn automatic enginestart is necessary.
