Openingthestowagespace underthe trunkfloor
NOTEDamagetothe handle inthe trunkfloor
Ifthe handle inthe trunk is left protruding,the handle may be damaged.
Unhingethe handle beforeyou closethe trunk lid and pressthe handleclosed again.
Pull handle1up and hook it into driprail2.
Attachingtheroof carrier
\nWARNINGRisk of injuryifthe maximumroof load isexceeded
Whenyou loadtheroof,the center of gravityofthevehiclerises andthe usual drivingcharacteristics aswell asthesteering andbrakingcharacteristicschange. During cor‐nering,thevehicle tilts morestrongly andmayreact more sluggishlytosteering move‐ments.
Ifyouexceedthe maximumroof load,thedrivingcharacteristics, aswell asthesteer‐ing and brakingcharacteristics, will begreatlyimpaired.
Always comply withthe maximumroofload and adjustyour drivingstyle.

NOTEVehicle damage from non-approvedroofracks
Thevehicle could be damagedbyroofrackswhich havenot beentested and approvedbyMercedes-Benz.
Only useroofrackstested andapprovedbyMercedes-Benz.
Depending onthevehicle equipment,ensurethat whentheroofrackis instal‐led:RThe sliding sunroof can be fullyraised.
RThe trunk lid can be fully opened.
Positionthe load ontheroofrackinsuch awaythatthevehicle will not sus‐tain damageeven when it is in motion.
NOTEDamagetothe sliding sunroofwhen aroofrackis installed
The sliding sunroof may be damagedbytheroofrackifyou attempttoopen it whentheroofrackis installed.
Do not openthe sliding sunroof whentheroofrackis installed.
In ordertoallowventilation ofthevehicleinterior,you canraisethe sliding sunroof.
NOTEDamagetothe covers
The coversmay be damaged and scratchedwhen being opened.
Do not use metallic or hard objects.
Carefullyfold covers1upwards inthedirection ofthe arrow.
Securetheroofracktothe anchorage pointsunder covers1.
Comply withtheroofrackmanufacturer'sinstallation instructions.
Securethe load ontheroofrack.

Cup holder
Installingthe cup holder in orremoving itfrom the center console (automatic trans‐mission)
\nWARNING‑ Risk of accident or injurywhen usingthe cup holder whilethevehicle is moving
The cup holder cannot secure containerswhilethevehicle is moving.
Ifyou use a cup holder whilethevehicle ismoving,the container may beflung aroundand liquids may be spilled. Thevehicle occu‐pants may come into contact withthe liquidand if it is hot,theycould be scalded.Yo ucould be distracted from traffic conditionsandyou may lose control ofthevehicle.
Only usethe cup holder whenthevehi‐cle isstationary.
Only usethe cup holderfor containersoftheright size.
Closethe container, particularlyiftheliquid is hot.
Toremove:slide catch2forwards and pullout cup holder1.
Toinstall:insert cup holder1and slideback catch2.
The cup holderrubber mat can beremovedfor cleaning, e.g. using clean, lukewarmwater.

Ashtray and cigarettelighter
Usingthe ashtrayinthe front center console
NOTEDamagetothestowage compart‐ment underthe ashtray
Thestowage compartment underthe ashtrayis not heatresistant and could be damaged ifyouresta lit cigaretteon it.
Make surethatthe ashtrayis fullyengaged.
Toopen:push up cover2ofthe ashtrayonitsright or left side.
Toremovethe insert:press insert1upwards slightly and pull it out upwards.
Tore-installthe insert:press insert1intothe holder until it engages.
Usingtherear passenger compartment ash‐tray
Toopen:pull cover2outbyitstop handleedge.
Toremovethe insert:pushribbing3fromthe left side and pull insert1upwards andout.
Toinstallthe insert:install insert1fromaboveand press down intothe holder until itengages.
Usingthe cigarettelighter
\nWARNING‑ Risk offireand injury fromhot cigarettelighter
You can burnyourself ifyoutouchthe hotheating element orthe socket ofthe ciga‐rette lighter.
In addition,flammable materials may igniteif:
Ryou dropthe hot cigarettelighter
Rachild holdsthe hot cigarettelightertoobjects,forexample
Always holdthe cigarettelighterbytheknob.
Always make surethatthe cigarettelighter is out ofreach ofchildren.
Never leavechildren unattended inthevehicle.

Press in cigarettelighter1.The cigarettelighter will pop out automati‐cally whenthe heating element isred-hot.
Sockets
Using the12V socketintherear passengercompartment
Requirements:ROnly connect devices uptoa maximum of180watts (15 A).
Pull cover2outbyitstop handle edge.
Removeblind plug1fromthe socket andinsertthe plug ofthe device.
Usingthe12V socketinthe front passengerfootwell
Requirements:ROnly connect devices uptoa maximum of180 W (15 A).
Lift up socket cap1.
Makesurethat no cables arerunningthrough or secured inthe airbag deploymentarea when usingthe socket. Observethenotes on airbag protection when doingthis(→page 40).

Ifyou do not adequatelystowobjects inthevehicle interior,theycould slip or betossedaround andtherebystrikevehicle occupants.In addition, cup holders, openstowagespaces and mobile phone brackets cannotalwaysrestrainthe objectstheycontain intheevent of an accident.
There is arisk of injury,particularly intheevent of sudden braking or a suddenchangein direction.
Alwaysstowobjects in such awaythattheycannot betossed about inthese orsimilar situations.
Always make surethat objects do notproject fromstowage spaces, parcelnets orstowage nets.
Closethe lockablestowage spacesbeforestarting a journey.
Alwaysstowand secure objectsthatare heavy, hard, pointed, sharp-edged,fragile ortoo large inthe trunk.

RThecharging function and wireless connec‐tion ofthe mobile phonetothevehicle'sexterior antenna are onlyavailable ifthe igni‐tion is switched on.
RSmall mobile phones may not be abletobecharged inevery position ofthe mobilephonestowage compartment.
RLargemobile phones which do notrestflat inthe mobile phonestowage compartment maynot be abletobecharged or connected withthevehicle'sexterior antenna.
RThe mobile phone may heat up duringthecharging process. The mobile phone can becooled inthe mobile phonestowage com‐partment whenthe air conditioning system isswitched on. The cooling output inthemobile phonestowage compartment is high‐est whenthe controller intheglove box isclosed.
RToensure more efficientcharging and con‐nection withthevehicle'sexterior antenna,removethe protective cover fromthe mobilephone.
RWhencharging,the mat should be used ifpossible.
Wirelesscharging ofthe mobile phone
Requirements:RThe mobile phone is suitablefor wirelesscharging (Qi-compatible mobile phone).Yo ucanfind a listof Qi-compatible mobilephones at:

Placethe mobile phone as closetothe cen‐ter of mat1as possible withthe displayfacing upwards.Whenthecharging symbol is shown inthemultimedia system,the mobile phone isbeingcharged.

The mat can beremovedfor cleaning, e.g.using clean, lukewarmwater.

Ifyou switchoffthe ignition while driving,safety functions arerestricted or no longeravailable. This may affectthe powersteeringsystem andthe brakeforce boosting,forexample.
You willthen needtouse considerably moreforcetosteer and brake.
Do not switch offthe ignition while driv‐ing.
\nDANGERRisk offatal injuries duetoexhaustgases
Combustion engines emit poisonousexhaustgases such as carbon monoxide. Inhalingtheseexhaustgases is hazardoustohealthand can leadtopoisoning.
Never leavethe enginerunning in anenclosed space without sufficientventi‐lation.

Engaging neutral NDepressthe brake pedal and pushtheDIRECT SELECT lever up or downtothefirstpoint ofresistance.The transmission position displayshows\\inthe multifunction display.
Subsequentlyreleasingthe brake pedal willallowyoutomovethevehicle freely,e.g.topushit ortow itaway.
Proceed asfollowsifyouwantthe automatictransmissiontoremain in neutral\\\\even ifthe ignition is switched off:
Startthevehicle.
Depressthe brake pedal and engage neutral\\.
Releasethe brake pedal.
Switchthe ignition off.
Ifyouthenexitthevehicle leavingtheSmartKeyinthevehicle,the automatic trans‐missionremains in neutral\\.
Engaging park position PObservethe notes on parkingthevehicle(→page156).
Depressthe brake pedal untilthevehicle isstationary.
Whenthevehicle isstationary,press button].Parkposition is only engaged whenthe trans‐mission position display]is shown inthemultifunction display.If no transmission posi‐tion display]appears, securethevehicletoprevent it fromrollingaway.
